"Mad Reid" Jake is a vocalist of a Los Angeles based rock band, Lost Triggers. Though traditionally famed for his startlingly good vocal range in his songs, recent events involving Qliphoth have left some emotional scars, as well as physical ones. Ever since the incident, he has turned away mostly from his traditional line of work and has become a vigilante.

Origins

Before the Q-incident

Not much is known about Jake's life before forming the Lost Triggers. All that is known is that Jake's birthname is actually 'Jackie', and that his father either died or otherwise left Jake behind at a very early age. Living alone with his mother, Elena, Jake was quite apathetic towards his mother's attempts to console him, and he eventually gave up on academics. His stand-out talent in Vocals did not suit him well as far as the school's social scene went, but it was definitely a hit with the local music scene. Jake eventually was convinced to go along with a trio of musicians; Landon, a guitarist (and very bad vocalist), Brent, keyboardist and the groups bass, and Van, the drummer. The four eventually went on to become the Lost Triggers, a power-rock group that soon internationally became famous.

As Jake would put it, the rest was history. After their claim to fame from releasing their first album online, the group decided to set up permanent base in Los Angeles, while also making frequent tours across the US. Though the group went strong for a good 6 years, a terrible accident pulled the group apart during a Lost Triggers performance in Millennium City Shopping Center. Without Warning, a huge rift to the Qliphothic realm opened directly over the stage. In truth, this rift had been planned by DEMON cult members long ago, in order to call the unholy forces of the Kings of Edom. Though Landon and Van were able to escape the pull of the rift, Jake, Brent, and several other audience members standing near the stage were not so fortunate. A grand total of 28 people went missing that day; only one ever returned, 2 years later.

Qliphoth

Though it only took 2 years for Jake to return, he certainly had spent a lot more time in the foreign dimension. The subjects that had been taken through the portal were immediately escorted to the citadel, each to be infused with Qliphothic energy that would either turn them into insane, yet potent demons, or eventually kill them. From Jake's account of the torture, the process was carried over hour-long spans, with a horrifying array of contraptions engineered for nothing but misery. The scars on Jake's body, specifically, were caused by a procedure where a molten blade was driven diagonally through his torso, with the flowing metal leaving the distinct 'branching' pattern on his body.

Many of the subjects gave in easily to the tortures, as their weakened bodies and wills were warped by the dimension's natural energy. Jake, however, was proving to be very resilient to any attempts to indirectly break his will. To the kings, this could only mean one thing; a suitable vessel. Jake was brought into the atrium of the citadel, greeted by the King of Lost Hope. In this junction, he was made a bargain; let the kings flood his being with the most concentrated energies of Qliphoth, turning him into an avatar of the kings, or stay stuck in Qliphoth for eternity.

Mad Reid Jake's "Reflection"
To Jake at the time, this was the only window of escape he could see. Jake obliged, letting himself take the direct brunt of the king's aura. However, instead of accepting the energy into the vessel, it somehow diverted. Instead of transforming Jake into an avatar, the energy simply channeled through him, forming another figure. With a vaguely similar shape and identical face to Jake, as well as being composed of pure Qliphothic energy, the new creature became known simply as Reflection. Jake was, somehow, left physically unharmed and unaltered from the process, much to the dismay of the Kings. Jake was sent back to his cell soon after, but the Kings had more devious plans for Jake's dark Reflection.

Still, in this time period, the Kings saw Jake as an especially unique 'toy'. They allowed the man to wander the Citadel, and particularly encouraged him to vent some of his frustration in futile, gladiator-like battles against the warped remains of other humans. Though Jake obviously never won against the endless onslaught of monsters, he slowly became more and more adept at using knuckledusters and claws to protect himself in combat. It was because of these forced fights that Jake had inadvertently killed the abominable remains of the other 27 people that had been taken in with him - including his keyboardist, Brent.

A few years following in the Qliphoth realm, Jake was taken back out by the Kings in another attempt to break his will; he would behold his Dark Reflection's departure into Jake's world. Not only would this cause paranormal organizations like HERMES to leave Jake for dead, but the reflection would also be greatly capable of using its powers to wreak havoc on the world.

What the Kings did not predict was the spark of hope that would form; not from any hope of escaping the dimension, but from simply seeing a physical pathway back home. Though held back by a wall of dark energy, Jake stopped at nothing to charge through every barrier to get through the same doorway that his Reflection would. By mere luck and determination, Jake had successfully made it back home - along with his Reflection, but at least people would now know that the real Jake was back and mostly well.

Triumphant Return

For a short period of time, Jake returned to perform with the Lost Triggers. However, now down a keyboardist and with Jake no longer being quite 'all there' when performing his songs, the band decided to break apart after only 2 months. Jake, obviously suffering from severe post-traumatic stress and guilt trips realizing his slaughter of his fans and friend, sought psychiatric help. When attempting to go in for help, however, he was assailed by DEMON yet again, finding out that someone had somehow managed to escape the Q-dimension almost completely unscathed.

Jake, now having become highly resilient to trauma and desensitized to violence, quickly took care of his attackers. It was in this battle, however, that Jake realized that something had burned within him while he attacked. Somehow, some spark of energy from the Q-realm had been kept inside him, and that this could potentially grant him increased power. Further, when he activated this power, his mind could lose focus. Temporarily, he could forget everything that had happened, and let pure instinct kick in and rip whatever that was in his way to shreds. With that power, Jake found that he could find something resembling inner-peace.

And so Jake decided to take up his new act of vigilantism. Still going by his stage name and not formally recognized as a hero by the federal government, Jake has so far proven to be a valuable asset, despite his apparent instabilities.

Prior to the incident, Mad Reid Jake had always been a bit of an adrenaline junkie and hedonist. Not afraid to try new things, push boundaries, and just have a good time, Jake was renowned for his flamboyant style alongside his mastery of vocal control. He was always one to please his fans, and could operate on quite a personal level if a situation required it. He also admitted fairly plainly in an interview that he was bisexual, and was part of the LGBT movement earlier in his life. In general, he was reportedly very fun to be around, and just quite charismatic.

Probably the only thing remaining from that facet of Jake now is a lack of consideration for personal safety. He is nearly silent at most times, almost always seen wearing a thousand-yard stare. While he did try to break this habit very soon after re-emerging from the Q-realm, it ultimately did not work out for him. Despite his seemingly broken will, he is always quick to show up to the site of battle. Any scrap of enthusiasm he had left for singing or vocal performance apparently transferred over to pure carnage, as he has absolutely no qualms with outright killing targets he goes after.

Combat Specifications

Jake's knuckledusters are studded with sharp barbs, and can quickly rend most things that get in the way.
Jake's main claim to fame is his Supernatural Resilience. It is unknown if Jake always had such tolerance for physical punishment, or if it was some sort of cryptic reaction he had to Qliphothic energy, but the fact of the matter is that it is very hard to keep Jake down for long. Some sort of supernatural force, perhaps even the residual energy inside him, keeps his body up and running.

His Personal Training from fighting for the King's amusement makes him not only quite skilled with using claw-like weapons, but has honed his body to work very effectively. Jake, without tapping into his special energies, can run for hours before tiring out, can lift 312 pounds, and can sprint at speeds of up to 22 miles per hour. His personal weapon, honed knuckledusters, are simply leftover parts of metal found within Qliphoth. Despite their apparently shoddy construction, Jake has made some absolutely visceral skewers using them.

Most key to Jake is that he can use his Residual Qliphothic Energy to supercharge himself. Though it causes grievous damage internally to Jake, it greatly boosts his energy reserves, allowing him to exert incredible physical feats for a few seconds. In this state, he can dash at speeds nearing 60 miles per hour and can throw punches that dent steel girders. The energy inside also lets him teleport to locations roughly 800 yards away.

What else there is

  • Was actually made in a challenge to make a male character with a female skeleton. Just to see if I could do it. I swear to god, aside from suspicious shading on the chest, he pretty much looks the part.
    • The weird thing I've found is that he looks more masculine the more feminine he's dressed. If he's dressed like a man, it just makes his body shape look like a woman's. If he's dressed in an ambiguous way, however, it somehow makes all the body-tweaks that make him look less feminine stand out. It's kind of like some weird rubin vase trick. Only with genders and some scarred dude.
