Tri-Emerald is a psionic superhero from Roosevelt City. Much like other prominent heroes from the area, she is also a member of the Alpha Force, a super-team founded by Chisoku and Bluhman. She was the first new member to be recruited after the team's formation.

Origins

Early Life

Elizabeth 'Beth' Hyral was born to a middle-class family. Her father, Harry, worked as a doctor, while her mother, Linda, mostly worked at home. Upon finding out their child was a mutant, they were initially distraught at the implications such a deformity had, but decided to attempt to deal with the situation by sending Beth to a private school. The Hyrals were one of the first families to have moved into Roosevelt City, hearing the mayor's goals and hopes for the city's development. Elizabeth was sent to the St. Germain private district, within the prestigious Lincoln Quarter of inner Roosevelt City; an area which became famed for its strong security despite the city's later circumstances.

Regardless of what school she had ended up at, Beth ended up being relentlessly ostracized by other students. She learned to eventually ignore the names she was called and, despite her loneliness, excelled at school well into junior high. A new problem began to develop at this age, however; she discovered that she could read minds. Now not only did she have to ignore the stray insults and slang that were thrown at her, but she also had to deal with troubling thoughts. Now, even those who were not openly hostile to her were becoming a nuisance.

In High School, Beth eventually was able to meet a fellow psion. Charles Rosen had no visible deformities to his body like Beth did, but he fully understood her problems. The mutual respect and companionship the two were able to share soon developed into something much deeper than just friendship.

The St. Germain 'Bombing'

There was one small problem that began to arise for Charles, however. Charles had been used to using his psionic abilities to intimately know and understand all he spoke with and become popular among his schoolmates. What Charles had hoped to do was convince other people that Beth was not the freak they had made her out to be, but what occurred instead was that Charles himself was being ostracized. By associating with Beth, he had revealed his psionic gift, and now nobody could properly trust either of them. Charles could not bear it; he needed to take action.

Charles began training Beth how to use her psionic powers to move objects and assault minds, turning their powers to application of deadly force. Conducted in private late at night within the school gym, the pair eventually became formidable fighters, with the proper agility and capabilities to challenge any threats they would face.

On October 2010, St. Germain high was directly assaulted by Charles and Beth. Using their powers, they managed to collapse parts of the school building, severely injuring 438 students and faculty. To silence the voices of those who had wronged him was the ultimate retribution for Charles, but Beth had become appropriately worried about the consequences of the action. Indeed, the district ended up expelling the two students, and they would soon be taken into Juvenile Court by the RCPD. The case was let off easily, however, as no concrete evidence was found that the pair had done the crime. It could very easily been the case that Charles had controlled the mind of the judge to default to an innocent verdict, but regardless, Beth's parents could not believe what she had done, and ended up abandoning her to avoid association with the supposed 'St. Germain Bomber'.

Oppressor; Tri-Emerald's prime nemesis
Charles and Beth had lost everything, now stuck on the streets without anywhere to turn. Without anything else left to lose, Charles proceed to make a move on Beth, who attempted to resist. Charles was a much more powerful psionic than she was, however, and ended up having his way with her before also abandoning her. Charles would go on to eventually become the supervillain Oppressor; leader of the Roosevelt City mutant gang The Evolution. Beth could do nothing but take what she had and wander, using her powers to only fend off people who directly attacked her.

Redemption

Without anyone willing to help her on their own accord, she was forced to do the only thing she could; silently help people and hope they took notice of her kind actions. While she did manage to make temporary friends that offered her shelter and food a few nights at a time, her condition remained miserable, and her telekinetic abilities were beginning to lose power due to malnutrition.

Later, she began to have a series of run-ins with operations of The Alpha Force, who often were seen guarding sensitive publications. Whenever a fight broke out, she would be eager to help, but usually unable to bring up the courage to act. What immortalized her as a hero in the city, however, was her involvement against the attempted murder of Mayor Jason Maus.

A week following Chisoku's dismantling of the Ayus base, Maus made a commemorative speech praising the efforts of their new superhero, and clarifying new policies and issues the unveiling of Ayus' business methods had made necessary. At a most inconvenient time, however, Maus was impaled through the belly by a large iron spike. The new Ayus agent, Stopwatch, had taken aim at the mayor and attempted to assassinate him from afar. Chisoku was easily able to track where the spike had emerged from and proceeded to go for the assassin, but this left Maus critically injured at the head of the crowd.

Beth had long been using her abilities to heal minor injuries she had gotten from past beatings by schoolmates, but something like this would require a lot more concentration and effort. Regardless, now was not the time to doubt, and she took action, using all her power to close the hole that the 8-inch diameter bolt had made in the mayor. Succeeding after a grueling 6 minutes, she helped the now uninjured mayor up to his feet woozily. With the help from this strange, 3-eyed girl, a city-wide crisis had been averted.

There was no doubt in Alfred Grant's mind that this healer from the woodwork would be a gigantic asset to his up and coming team. After a short interview clearing up Beth's past and her intentions for trying to make amends, she was welcomed into the Alpha Force as Tri-Emerald.

Old enemies

Beth Hyral making a new name for herself via an eye-hiding prosthesis.
At this point, the three-eyed healer had become a spectacle that nearly everyone recognized as Tri-Emerald. However, her willingness to make amends and try to experience a more normal life was also dealt with by the Alpha Force; by giving Tri-Emerald a special prosthesis which hid her third eye from view, she could pass as a non-mutant human being. The only limitation; she lost all access to her psionic power while using it.

For all intents and purposes, Alfred Grant became Tri-Emerald's foster parent, usually allotting her free time to catching up on her remaining education. The new identity allowed Beth to make a lot of new friends, but none were closer than Akira, whom she directly worked alongside on the field and has gotten to know intimately.

However, throughout these years, Oppressor had become much more powerful. He now commanded an army of mutants several thousands strong; almost all deformed in some shape or way in result of their powers, seemingly in devotion to what he believed was Beth's virtue: It was not about that those who had shunned her were right about their distaste for mutants. Instead, it centered around the doctrine that mutants powers, whether they affected appearance or not, were only natural advancements in the human condition, and that the gene pool needed to be cleansed of the 'old humans'.

But once Oppressor gained enough power to read Beth's mind from long distance, he became aware of her new double-life. Instantly, he became jealous; she had managed to regain something that Oppressor had long ago disposed with in the form of social integrity. Not only that, but he had lost his 'lover' to another man!

Instantly, Chisoku became a direct target for Oppressor. Not experienced in the way of resisting psionic influence, Chisoku's mind was slowly broken by the psion, and he was forced to perform the same atrocity that Oppressor himself had done years ago. After the two had broken out from Oppressor's influence, they were forced to take a month off for mental rehabilitation for the intensely scarring experience; a bleak time where the lone AUB and Alfred Grant had to pick up the slack in hunting Oppressor down.

Though the wounds that Oppressor had sowed have long healed, Chisoku and Emerald have become highly apprehensive to their relationship now. It has become a very delicate matter, and though both want to make amends for what they have done, they simply do not know where to start.

A long history of very traumatic events have made Tri-Emerald somewhat emotionally unstable; an instability that can also be compounded by her impressionability from other peoples' emotions via her empathic powers. Despite this, she has been making conscious efforts to improve her condition. She is usually quite good at striking up relevant conversations, and is very good at sharing her feelings. Even though her powers enable her to telepathically communicate, she much prefers verbal speech.

Another strength of Emerald is her organization. She almost always is the member of the team who is able to explain more complicated ideas in simpler terms, and can keep plans straighter than most of the others can. Her attentiveness to the condition of other members helps greatly in her role as a support-unit.

Combat Specifications

Tri-Emerald is not lacking in sheer telekinetic power.
By nature, Tri-Emerald is a defender. Her Empathic Abilities enable her to mend wounds and shield allies with psionic force. These abilities extend to even further implications, having effects such as pushing allies onward to fight harder and give them the determination to overcome otherwise insurmountable odds.

Emerald has access to both Telekinesis and Telepathy, allowing her to share plans silently with her teammates while also informing them of enemy schemes. Though a telepath, Emerald's mind control is extremely limited as an offensive measure. Instead, she prefers to use Telekinetic Projectiles to fend off enemies. Emerald's Telekinesis is powerful enough to pick up 8 tons of weight, allowing her to easily create shields of physical matter and flatten enemies with clutter. When no objects are available, she is still capable of forming Telekinetic Constructs, but they are usually of only simple geometric shapes such as rectangular prisms for shields and pyramids for projectiles.

Her biggest weakness is her completely insignificant physical stature. She can only lift 50 pounds and usually goes down very easily from a good kick if she isn't consciously shielding herself. She does have the ability to use her telekinesis for Flight, but this technique only allows her to get to speeds of up to 21 miles per hour.

Some other things
