Scout, or the 2nd Scout as older heroes call her, is a french Heroine trained in usage of long-ranged weaponry. She is daughter to the 1st Scout, a member of the older E-Team. Scout is currently working with the new E-Team to try and stop the terrorist efforts within Roosevelt City.

Origins

Legacy

From left to right: Avalon, The Gourmand, Deadbolt, and Anata Godard: The 1st Scout
The title of the Scout initially started with Anata Godard, who had humble beginnings with her rural family. Her brother often would take her on hunting trips to help get a handle on her archery skills, which she eventually grew to have a near supernatural skill in. Her claim to fame as a hero came when her village was mysteriously attacked by zombies that had been summoned by The Prince of Corpses, a french necromancer. In a town that had such a weak police force, Anata's efforts were paramount to protecting the city.

Faced with the decision to set out and see if her skills could be put to use anywhere else or to stay behind and help her family, she went out to broaden her horizons. This proved to be a paramount choice that lead to Anata's fame reaching across the French nation, eventually leading her to be noticed by the E-Team's would-be leader, Deadbolt. Anata joined under the title of Scout, joining forces with the rest of the team, including The Gourmand and Avalon. During her time with the E-Team, she became romantically involved with the latter; their relations lasting until the team inevitably was broken apart.

Following Deadbolt's death in the 70's, Anata took the money she had made working with the team and settled down in Rouen. Now that she wasn't regularly with Avalon, she decided to leave that history behind her and get married. She eventually found a husband in Darien Lachance, a comic book artist and fan of the E-Team's adventures. Though somewhat meek, Darien had a deep appreciation of Anata's work as a hero, and they soon grew to be a steady family. Within 2 years, Anata finally had a baby girl: Marie Lachance.

Raising the 2nd Scout

Marie seemingly inherited her father's lack of conviction. While her mother was now a driven and accomplished mentor to her daughter and encouraged her to take up a similar line of work, Marie was scarcely interested in such endeavors. Not only this, but the city of Rouen had been very quiet for the years following Anata's retirement. Even if Marie wanted to become a hero, there really wouldn't be much reason for her to do her job around the current locale. It was at this time that Darien made the decision that (largely in order for Darien to get more inspiration for his comics) the family should move to Paragon City. Indeed, the Rhode Island city was seeing much more action as of late, and thus the family moved out.

Marie thus began her secondary school in the US, and began learning a history of long struggles that had taken place within the country. Marie was moved by these tales, and thus made the decision to change her mind about heroism; to please her parents and aid in the fight against crime in the city, she would take up her mothers' mantle and become Scout II, but only under one condition: They teach her how to fight with something a little less delicate and "wimpy" than bows.

Thus, Scout was trained in usage of live firearms and ambush tactics. She became especially masterful using the Sniper Rifle and setting mine-traps, infiltrating enemy bases and finishing off weakened enemies. On the field, she became famous for her silent tactics and effective means of incapacitating targets for imprisonment. Within the confines of Paragon City, Scout grew to be a well-respected hero in the Founders' Falls region.

Call to arms

Around the time Marie was 20, her mother was contacted by Dr. Voltsz, who was rallying a considerable force inside Roosevelt City in an underground attempt to defuse a Singularity Bomb. Voltsz, of course, had not realized that Anata had retired her job long ago, but was instead willing to offer her daughter up to help instead. Hearing this offer, Marie was initially reluctant to move again, especially since she seemed to be doing perfectly fine within her current venue. Eventually, Anata was able to convince her daughter that the wide variety of heroes within Paragon City had the situation under control, and so the new Scout headed off to New Jersey to help the reformed E-Team.

An important thing to note about Anata is that she had little to no knowledge of the old European supergroup. She had no idea who Dr. Voltsz, Avalon, or Gourmand was, and she certainly was in no mood to find out who these fogies were. She carries out her duties with a considerable begrudging affect, and would feel a lot more comfortable working on her own.

Scout cares very little about issues she isn't well-versed in. If thrown into a situation without a proper briefing detailing the exact reasons why she should try and stop a certain villain's scheme, she will refuse to work. In addition, if she doesn't see a benefit to the immediate consequences to a current mission, she will prove to be abrasive to her colleagues and otherwise uncooperative. In contrast, when given a clear motivation for her actions, whether it be a noble cause that can save lives or even just money, she will be eager to get the task done.

Scout, by nature, isn't very geared towards teamwork. She can get angry if a colleague of her's blows her cover or gets in the way in the most inconsequential of ways. Regardless, she is very much willing to give credit where it is due and treats her peers who do help her out or save her skin with proper respect.

Perhaps even more important to her than her line of work is her appearance. She finds it very important that her makeup and hair are kept in an acceptable state, but once the bars are off on anything pertaining to appearance, she can become outright cruel to enemies, perhaps to the point of inefficiency. Getting her hair singed or her rouge smeared is the fastest way to end up with either you or her dead or badly hurt.

Combat Specifications

The fastest way to get to the field, Scout finds, is by using her grappling hooks and acrobatics.
Scout relies very strongly on her Guns to do upfront combat. To say she's 'loaded' wouldn't be too far off from the truth, as she carries around an Assault Rifle for medium-ranged combat, an SMG for close encounters, Grenades for creating buffers, a Sniper Rifle for ambush, Mines for setting traps, and specialized rounds for causing extra damage. In a typical day, she finds herself using all these tools at least once, but she is by far most skilled with sniping. It's good if she can escape a battle victorious, but even better if the battle is already over by her first shot.

If that wasn't enough, Scout also caries around a Bow for both delicate and emergency operations. Her arrows come in a stunning variety to stop enemies from acting, and a special roped variety, allowing her to latch on to surfaces and climb over obstacles. However, Scout's skill with the bow is fairly rudimentary, standing in direct contrast with her mother's skill with the bow. As such, Scout is only able to use the bow in medium-ranged combat.

Scout can get to the scene using her Cable Gun, which can quickly allow Scout to rappel and swing from building to building. She is also quite athletic, capable of lifting 123 pounds and sprinting at speeds of around 14 miles per hour. She also has skill in driving Motorcycles, but is usually not seen using it within Michigan state due to state limitations.

Otherargh

  • The 13th 40! The original design of scout was indeed the original scout detailed in the 'legacy' section of the page. Thus, she was originally an archery character, but got switched around when I quickly realized that that set was horribly underperforming.
  • She is currently the tallest fully-human female character in the roster.
  • I think she just outdid Barbara Blaster for shortest page. CHRIST I'm getting lazy.[[Category:Human]
