Megadrive is a child-prodigy hero. Usually piloting a moderately compact power armor, the general populous usually isn't aware that this hero is in fact a young boy. Despite his age, Megadrive's armor is suitably powerful enough to fend off most enemies, and though the pilot is a bit naive, he's very quick to pick up on the circumstances.

Origins

Early Life and Discovery

Joshua Turner
Joshua Turner was born to an average family in Ohio. Though the family itself was normal, Josh certainly was anything but. At home, he would constantly be reckless, running about the house too hyperactive for his mother and father to control. In kindergarten, he was especially skilled at escaping the teachers and wandering around the town alone. Eventually, the Turners decided to bring Josh in to a psycho-pathologist to see what could be done. Josh was officially diagnosed with a severe case of ADHD and was put on medications at age 2.

Three years passed, and Joshua was now showing signs of doing very well in school and performing obediently. Consistently praised by the teachers for his fairly bright attitude and creativity, Josh's parents decided it was time that they got their child a reward. Josh's father, Moe, took him out to an electronics store to peruse some of the latest gaming systems, computers, and other gadgets they could perhaps get. Coincidentially, this was also when Josh's medication dose was about to wear off. When it finally did, Josh was still controlled; he was by the Game-demo booths in the store, simultaneously playing two different video games at once, one with each hand. When Moe began asking him about whether it was difficult for him at all and how he felt while doing it, he returned surprisingly articulate answers; as if he was fully paying attention to his father while also flawlessly playing two games at once. Without hesitation, Moe whisked his family back to the psycho-pathologist.

Josh had apparently matured some during his three years, but he was clearly showing signs of boredom and restlessness. Still, he sat relatively still until the doctor was able to conclude what was going on. Eventually, Dr. Isaac Laeron came to the conclusion that Joshua Turner's condition was unique. His hypothesis was that Turner's mind was Hyperthreaded; his mind was scarily well-adapted to multitasking, so much so that his apparent hyperactivity was a side-effect of being unable to multitask at all times of the day. Mr. and Mrs. Turner initially refuted Dr. Laeron's point, but Laeron was enamored in the possibilities such a mental condition could have. When he struck a deal that he would educate Joshua in how to use his gift effectively, while studying his cognition, completely free of charge, the Turners gladly accepted.

Through tests, Dr. Laeron found out about Josh's amphidexterity; he could use any one of his appendages with the same precision as a dominant hand. When rated for intelligence, Josh scored an 180 IQ; a quality that had been rather severely dampened by his medication. The more Laeron educated Josh in how to control his thought process and direct it towards both widespread tasks and focused ones, the more Josh's immense intelligence stood out. By age 7, Josh was roughly as knowledgeable and smart as a 9th grader.

Heroism

Joshua's small form easily fits inside the armor's cockpit, which fills the entire torso, head, and upper legs of the armor.
Laeron eventually decided that he could find an auspicious use for this sort of ability. Calling up UNTIL to tell them about his finding, Laeron was initially deemed a madman for sending a 7-year old into the front-lines against supervillains, and that such use of power by a child would certainly end up in disaster. However, part of Laeron's training to Josh had him morally adjusted for such a line of work, and when the idea of becoming a superhero was directly posed to Josh, he readily accepted. In fact, Josh had been a long-standing fan of superheroics, both fictional and real. If anything, they were one of the few topics that kept Josh's attention, and his obsession over them combined with the opportunity to actually fight alongside them made it simply too hard for Josh to turn the call to heroism down.

Of course, Mr. and Mrs. Turner were quite reluctant to potentially lose their son from these sorts of risks. When Josh made his case, however, the parents were moved by his conviction. Josh was ready to accept the consequences if he were to fail, and further reassured his parents that he was more than capable of taking whatever the opposition might throw at him. Still, the Turners needed time to deliberate whether to send their 7-year old son off to battle.

Meanwhile, Laeron had already given UNTIL the greenlight, commissioning the design of a specialized robot suit that could be controlled via fingerpads and toepads. Built to accomodate a small boy, the suit was also designed with many failsafes in case the armor was compromised; even if the suit was destroyed, the pilot would have a 90% chance of escaping without significant injury. When Laeron came by to deliver the armor to the Turner residence, they finally were convinced. Josh was given permission to go off and join the Superhero movement, and thus Josh was flown off to a boarding-facility within Millennium City; an academy where he would learn UNTIL safety protocol, how to use his armor, and be protected from outside threat when not using his armor. It was a tough time, but Josh knew he was living the life. After his training had been completed, he used his armor for the first time in public, and became known as Megadrive.

Publicly, Megadrive is assumed simply to be an advanced security robot, with sophisticated and sentient AI. Of course, Josh's playful demeanor sometimes puts this at odds with such a description, but virtually everybody still takes the bait. To many, Megadrive is simply a large, friendly, heroic robot that can get the job done. To both citizens and conspicuous villains, there just simply is no Joshua Turner.

Megadrive is highly imaginative, energetic, and quite playful. Even if his jokes and pranks might poke fun at other people, he knows how to be considerate in circumstances where it's required. Though well-learned in how to use his armor and how to properly fight, he still is naive in certain contexts; namely more mature ones. Needless to say, this can leave him in some awkward situations when he asks questions such as "Should I cover my ears?" or "What's light 'come' inflation?"

On the other side of things, Megadrive is also quite impulsive when it comes to some tactics. He can be a bit 'needy' and likes being the center of attention. Most grievous, of course, is his short attention span, and unless he's actively engaged in what is being talked about, he can easily end up nodding-off and doing something entirely unrelated. When he commits himself to an effort or concept, however, his focus is unwavering.

Combat Specifications

The Megadrive's armaments are varied. One mainstay weapon of the armor is the Targeting Pak.
To start, there is simple Joshua Turner. Physically, Josh is nothing special, and has no outstanding physical capabilities. However, his dexterity and intellect are way above average. He is amphi-dextrous; that is, he can use each appendage with the same precision as one would use their dominant hand. Aside from the implications behind his superior balance and other random talents (such as playing a piano with his feet), it plays into the design of his Megadrive Armor.

For his age, Josh is incredibly smart, with an 180 IQ. Of course, this is relative to age, and he's roughly on the same intellectual level as a 23-26 year old. This intelligence is also greatly focused in areas of fast decision making, processing multiple stimuli at once (what Dr. Laeron dubbed as 'Hyperthreading'), and fast learning of motor skills. Again, this all plays into how he learned to operate the Megadrive Armor in one year.

Getting on to the Megadrive Armor itself, this 7-foot tall, 500 pound armor has an extremely unusual control scheme, where the pilot fits into a compartment within the torso and head of the armor. The legs and arms control four separate boards of buttons and levers, which each can independently control their limbs and various weapons systems. Through time, Josh got used to using this unusual scheme and can practically use the armor like an extension of his own body.

The armor is capable of lifting up to 1000 pounds and has a battery life of around 2-3 days if the armor isn't stressed too much. The armor can slowly recharge via solar power, but gets most of it by electrical charging. The armor is strong enough to deflect lower-caliber bullets and can worthily shrug-off heat and other energies, but (especially compared to other power armors) can get fairly easily battered, dismembered, or otherwise broken by physical contact. Thankfully, the Megadrive can generate Shields using its shoulder-mounted shield batteries, which provide very worthy protection against harm.

Megadrive's Arsenal is immense. Each hand has Beam Ports that can shoot concentrated rays of high-wavelength energy. The back is fitted with a Targeting Pak, which comes with targeting lasers, homing rocket-launchers, and machine guns, all of which fold out over the shoulder of the armor. The deadliest part of the armor, however, is mounted on the torso; the easiest part for Josh to aim. The Blaster Battery can collect matter in a tiny compartment in the torso. Using fission, it creates an incredible beam of energy that bursts outward, dealing disastrous damage to anything in its way.

Given the comparative fragility of the armor, it was pragmatically fitted with a Teleportation Device, which can enable the armor to phase short distances in normal circumstances, and also Teleports the armor's "Black Box" (the armored cockpit) back to UNTIL HQ if the armor is compromised. This is a fairly energy-costly method of transport, so for most trips, the Megadrive uses Jets mounted into its feet. After being warmed up, they enable the armor to fly at speeds nearing Mach 1.
