Blueprint Man is a 'ultra-fighting android', though he was originally designed to be a internal medicine operation unit. Various factors, including the deaths of his creators, have lead him to his current position and paradigms. He is currently a questionably-heroic vigilante around Millennium City.

Origins

The DXM Series

Blueprint Man was originally part of a larger project by Dr. Theodore Xeres and Dr. Karl Miller. These two scientists, based in Toronto, had come up with various prototypes of high-function robots: robots that would be capable of independent judgement and action based on outside variables and data. The ultimate name of the project, DXM, stood for 'Dr. Xeres Mechs', and was drafted early on when the project's goal was still ambiguous.

Initially, 2 mechs had been designed by Xeres and Miller. This included DXM-001, also known as Adama, who was designed as a housekeeping robot, and DXM-002, designed as a surgeons aide. When the duo were initially unveiled to the public at the robotics expo in Philidelphia, they were met with immediate praise, prompting Xeres and Miller to design 8 more robots. The next robots, ranging from DXM-003 to DXM-010, had functions ranging from metalworking and reforestation, to combat and sports instruction. Had everything gone to plan, the DXM Series would have slowly proceeded towards mass production and financial success.

Of course, this benefit never came due to Miller's tampering with the base AI code of the DXM template. As it turned out, Miller was the one most responsible for the intricate learning AI that made the DXM series so unique, yet it was Xeres, the designer of the anthropomorphic chassis' and articulated servos, who got all the credit and praise. In an act of pettiness, Miller modified the code to perform a specific task: Accept all contact from Miller's computer and obey his orders. Simply by using his computer within his Toronto Apartment, he could control any and all new DXM bots created. In addition to this, he managed to fit hidden weapons on DXM units 003 to 010. Now, every DXM model made since would be a minion for Dr. Miller to use against his former colleague.

Xeres, obviously, had no idea of Miller's intent or his actions. As he had hoped, the new robots were working correctly and were ready to ship to various locations around Canada and northeastern USA. Once the robots had gotten adjusted and settled to their working locales, Miller gave his first signal. Deploying their weapons, the robots wreaked havoc on several fronts, forcing their subordinates to obey their commands or face certain death. Now, Miller commanded an army of 8 robots, each sporting their own troupe of lesser robots, reprogrammed and refashioned for combat, and enslaved workers. Xeres began to get some very stern criticism from the public media, forcing him to take all possible DXM units out of circulation. Of course, all Xeres could manage to get were DXM-001, and 002.

As time went on, Xeres' situation got worse and worse, and he was eventually forced to sell spare parts on his robots to keep out of debt from the various suits that had been pinned on him. By now, Xeres had managed to figure out that Miller was behind all this, given that only an AI error could cause behavior like this, and that he had not come into work to help him in the past few days. In any case, there still wasn't a thing that Dr. Xeres could do to stop the crisis.

The birth of blueprint man

DXM-002, discussing plans to fight back with Dr. Xeres
Not wanting to behold his 'father' facing such strife, DXM-002 suggested that he be refitted to fight against the berserk robots around North America. Xeres initially proved reluctant to do so, but after he realized that DXM-002 had already laid out a masterful blueprint of a special combat chassis he would use, he was inspired, and took immediate action to refurbish his 2nd creation. Even after Xeres had run out of parts to construct 002's armor, Adama volunteered to give up her own sentience and being; permitting Xeres to dismantle her and use her materials to continue. Xeres was mortified that Adama would make such a suggestion, but 002 had few qualms. After all, he would be able to house both his processor, as well as Adama's, effectively doubling his knowledge and preserving Adama's thought process as a subroutine.

The process was carried out, effectively fusing Adama and 002 together. Blueprint Man was born, equipped with his trademark red plating, a plasma cannon arm, and a processing unit capable of great precision and effective combat, alongside Adama's qualities of empathy and organization. Blueprint Man's plan also enabled his cannon arm to be able to install extra hardware and data chips on the fly, effectively enabling him to expand his own capabilities whenever he came across new DXM designs. With every robot he defeated, he would be able to - one way or another - upgrade himself to adapt their own technology as his own weapon. Hence, blueprint man.

Xeres and Blueprint Man waged their transnational war against Miller's robot army. Day by day, Blueprint Man arrived on each locale where a DXM android had been spotted. In his first few battles, Blueprint Man was easily able to best his foes. This ease was due to a design flaw in miller's command model, in which the commands he gave his robots were delayed thanks to the great distance there was between him and the robots he was controlling. In addition, conflicts of control against pre-defined role were also taking place. Internally, each robot that Miller controlled was facing internal distress due to conflicts between procedural commands and hard-coded actions. In direct contrast, Blueprint Man was working without any external influences, and was handily able to outwit and outmaneuver Miller's bots. With each bot he defeated, his powers grew stronger, and his arsenal grew more diverse.

Miller was able to improve his coding, however. By the time Blueprint Man was facing Miller's 8th and final DXM, the agility of the two bots were evenly matched, and even with all of his weaponry, Blueprint Man was barely able to survive the battle. Still, Blueprint Man was now decked out with a grand arsenal of 9 varied weapons. The fiasco surrounding the berserk robots had been resolved, all thanks to Xeres and his robot warrior. Blueprint Man became a national phenomenon.

Xeres was content to stop here, expecting Miller to come out of hiding and accept defeat, now that he had nothing left to work with. However, Blueprint Man thought otherwise. His gathering of the other DXM bot chips had given him much more information about Miller than Xeres realized. Even if he couldn't directly explain it, Blueprint Man felt an incredible drive to track down Miller and capture him. Assuming that the combat robot knew better, Xeres agreed, letting him go.

Critical error

In truth, Blueprint Man had not come to Miller's base as a result of suspicion, or even intuition. In fact, Blueprint Man himself had not realized he had made the decision to go after Miller. In all the new DXM chips he had taken in, it seemed that Blueprint Man had temporarily lost himself. Dazed and alone in Miller's apartment, the evil doctor came out of hiding to explain himself. He had nothing to fear, because Blueprint Man had been under his control - for a longer period of time than either he or Xeres had realized.

The truth was, ever since Blueprint Man had scanned in the chip for DXM-003, Miller had been able to control at least 1/3rd of his AI, thanks to the coding adjustments he had made. Of course, said control was laggy, thanks to the old system that had been in place on those chips. On the later chips, however, Miller had been actively making upgrades to the software, enabling the chips to more readily access Miller's signals and more easily override the natural code within. As a result, with each passing battle, Blueprint Man had fallen further and further under Miller's grasp. Now, 80% of Blueprint Man's Processing power and weaponry were under Miller's control. He was practically powerless to resist his commands. As a statement to show just how much influence he had over the hapless combat robot, he ordered Blueprint Man to fly back home and personally kill Dr. Xeres using his plasma cannon.

One shot was all it took to down the cybernetics genius. Blueprint Man was distraught by what he had just did... Or at least 20% of him was. For several days, Blueprint Man stayed home, moping over how he had been forced to take the life of his own creator. Meanwhile, Miller had no use for DXM control, since now his main target was dead, and all he could control was a single red robot. It probably would have been best for Miller to have dismantled the system then and there, but he had the notion in the back of his mind that, someday, he could use the system to have Blueprint Man do more of his bidding.

Months had passed. By now, Miller had gone on in life and become a video game designer, completely forgetting that he still had access to his DXM controller. On the other side, Blueprint Man had spent most of his time in solitude around Xeres' abandoned home, turning the place into an elaborate shrine for his father. By now, the other 8 AI-processors within him had proceeded to resume normal operation, now realizing the significance of DXM-002's plight. Plans began to brew up between the AIs, and soon, they reached a unanimous result - avenge Xeres, and kill the one who had betrayed him. With all the rage of 10 individual minds, Blueprint Man began his trek to seek out Miller, and enact bloody retribution.

Blueprint Man's advanced technology enabled him to easily home in on Miller's location. By the time the two parties had met, Miller had been driving himself home from work. When Miller realized he was being tracked by his old robot, he began to panic, realizing that he currently had no control over the assailant that was after him. The chase between jet-powered combat android and a coupe, predictably, didn't last that long. Miller, once a talented, yet spiteful programmer, was now little more than a black crater in the street.

The entire ordeal involving Xeres and Miller seemingly left Blueprint Man scarred. Under Xeres, he once had ambitions to make a name for himself, earning the respect of his father and the rest of humankind for his heroic deeds. Now, he is a mostly-silent vigilante, operating around the Millennium City area. He has seen the worst that humans have to offer, and while he is willing to lend a hand, he remains skeptical, reclusive, and quite prone to lethal force.

Blueprint Man, having taken AI samples from 9 other robots, has a personality that is so polarized by various impulses that it ultimately ends up in a strange, tragic mess. Though DXM-002 itself was reportedly an outgoing and considerate robot, Blueprint Man's current personality is a far-cry, holding most humans in low regard by assuming the worst traits within people. This antagonism towards people also translates into fear; Blueprint Man hates conversation and company, prefering almost always to work alone. Perhaps 9 voices in his head is all the company he needs?

Even if he has what a psychologist might refer to as a robotic version of dissociative identity disorder, Blueprint Man's behavior is extremely consistent. Not only this, but his behavior is also quite well-organized, preferring to approach problems in a procedural, structured way, and seemingly always prepared for a challenge with the right tool. Even if he is not sociable, Blueprint Man shows incredible versatility when it comes to dealing with practical challenges.

Combat Specifications

Blueprint Man's arsenal is not only versatile - it's quite explosive!
Blueprint Man's chassis has comparatively impressive specs, including a battery life of up to 13 days (running normally) and physical power capable of lifting up to 422 pounds. Blueprint Man's cybernetic brain enables him to step out of the way of most slow-moving projectiles, which, combined with his reinforced armoring, serve to make Blueprint Man quite hard to take down.

On the offensive, Blueprint Man's weapon of choice is his old plasma cannon, capaable of charging and firing bolts of force that crash into enemies, usually sending them flying. The Plasma Cannon is quite powerful, but suffers from limited coverage and poor fire rate. For other situations, Blueprint Man can use extra weapons installed in his Adaptor Cannon. This cannon, currently, can switch between 9 different weapons installed within, ranging from a rapid-fire hale of bullets, to an entangling net capsule, to even a bone-shattering sonic bomb. In any situation where he might need a new weapon, all he needs to do is find a new robot or cyborg part, and use his weapon-scanning ability to analyze the part in question and replicate its operation inside the Adaptor cannon.

Blueprint Man cannot run that fast, but his Jet Boosters, installed in his feet, enable him to fly along at speeds nearing 52 miles per hour. A design flaw also causes him to be extremely vulnerable to stout, conical spikes.
