After being caught in the electrical discharge from a Mega-Destroid, young Malorie Monroe found herself |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Malorie Monroe lived an exceedingly normal life with her parent's, Jim and Maggie, on the edge of Ann Arbor. Nothing remotely interesting happened beyond the usual Junior High drama most young teenagers face. Unlike most of her friends and classmates, Malorie was a keen follower of the costumed heroes who populated nearby Millennium City. She would often daydream while reading the latest exploits, that she was there fighting alongside them. Yes. Malorie was a Super Hero Fan Girl.
Just before school broke up for summer vacation, Malorie and her classmates were taken on a class outing to nearby Millenium City as part of a project they had been assigned on the recovery of the city following the alien attack. While visiting the museum in Memorial Park, a large robot decided to stage an attack outside. Malorie and several others were trapped inside the building as a battle raged in the courtyard outside. Peering around the door to try and see which of her favourite heroes had turned up to fight the mechanical fiend Malorie was struck by a blast of electricity from the robot and thrown backwards into the museum, landing awkwardly amongst the exhibits. Everything suddenly went from blinding light and deafening noise to darkness and silence.
Malorie's most striking feature is now her white hair, unusual enough but for someone of African American heritage it is particularly startling. Despite the efforts of her mother Maggie to dye it to a more natural shade, Malorie has found that color preparations just won't stay in her hair for any more than a couple of hours at a time. Prior to the attack in Millenium City, Malorie's hair was a more natural shade of brown. In order to hide her identity, Malorie persuaded her mother that she should wear a wig of a more appropriate color so that she wouldn't be target of teasing and bullying at school or around the neighbourhood.
Standing 4’8’’ tall, at a weight of around 90 pounds, Malorie is perhaps a little small for someone her age. Due to her athletic and gymnastic training at school in Ann Arbor, Malorie has a high muscle tone and body strength which combined with her size often puts opponents on the back foot when she comes out fighting. Malorie generally wears relaxed clothing when not fighting crime and is sometimes mistaken for a young boy due to her fondness for baggy attire and sportswear. When Malorie first became Breeze she only had access to what materials and clothes she could find around house and school from which to fashion a costume. She managed to "borrow" an old cape and domino mask from the School's drama department. Initially she was simply going to wear her sports gear but felt it looked little bland. Luckily the cape she had taken was too large for her, so she was able to use the extra cloth she removed from it to make a tunic to wear over her t-shirt and cycle shorts. To keep the tunic from billowing too much she finished the look off with an old yellow belt of her mothers
As a result of the incident with the Mega Destroid, Breeze can generate vast quantities of electricity and channel this in various forms to cause damage to one or more opponents. A side effect of all this excess electricity has shown itself in a sort of inbuilt defibrillator. When rendered unconscious, Breeze autonomic system kicks in and jolts her back into battle readiness.
