Patches is a voiceless, faceless cyborg with a huge stature and unnatural strength, capable of smashing through walls with his robotic arm. He was a PRIMUS soldier assigned to Project Greenskin, reanimated by Dr. Madman after having died of radiation poisoning. The gas mask he wears has been integrated directly into his respiratory system and cannot be removed without risking his death.

Patches's powers come from his reanimation as a zombie and that radiation makes him stronger.

History

Patches's life leading to his reanimation as a zombie was, at one time, cheerful and promising.

Early Life

Sean Fisher was always a big guy, even since his teen years. Born into a statistically average American family, he had an unshakable sense of duty and honor, and waited until his three younger siblings had moved out of their family home and safely established themselves before he joined PRIMUS.

PRIMUS Career

In PRIMUS, he was a natural leader among his fellow soldiers. While he was assigned to Project Greenskin, he earned a reputation as a guardian angel, after repeatedly carrying injured and irradiated allies back to the base on his shoulders.

Sean was sent with a unit to wipe out a cluster of irradiates who were occupying a group of radioactive pools, known among the men as the Swamp. After engaging, a group of irradiates three times the size of the cluster already there swarmed over the hills and surrounded them. Sean was the last one standing. No one survived.

Dr. Madman

Dr. Madman and his assistant, Dr. Mary Abasolo, looking for experimental materials in the irradiated territories, discovered the PRIMUS unit. They found Sean the most intact, with only his left-side limbs burned away, and carried him away to their secret laboratory.

Sean's left arm and leg were replaced with mechanical ones, and his dead organs rebuilt using cybernetics and rapid-growth cells. The enhanced cells made him grow even more, to a monstrous stature.

He awoke 20 hours later. He couldn't speak and had no memory of his life as Sean Fisher. What he did retain, however, was his compulsive loyalty and protectiveness. Since they didn't know his name, Dr. Abasolo named him Patches.

PRIMUS Reintegration

In a PRIMUS assault on Dr. Madman's secret laboratory, Dr. Abasolo released Patches from his containment so he could escape. The two fled while Dr. Madman's zombie hordes held back the PRIMUS troops. Mary went ahead to reunite with Madman, but sent Patches toward civilization.

At first he was met with fear and a PRIMUS team captured him using electrical containment fields. Patches didn't resist, perhaps because he recognized the uniforms as allies. With the PRIMUS operatives, he was a gentle giant, and over time handlers trained him to aid the police and PRIMUS in defense of the US against supercrime. Investigation into his origins led to the uncovery of his life as Sean Fisher, and his mother, Petra, was briefly reunited with him.
