History
Ian Yoshida was a medical doctor before joining the U.S. Air Force. His father was Air Force as well, but disappeared after becoming involved in a top secret experiment. Ian volunteered to be a part of the experiment to find out where his father had gone, and uncovered plans to develop supersoldiers using a serum created by the villain Dr. Madman.
Ian's father was still alive, but mutated horribly by the serum, known as Bauer's Ultimate Fortitude Formula, or BUFF. Researchers utilized Ian's help to continue developing BUFF, and he insisted they try it on him once it was complete, to prove to his father that it could work. This new version of BUFF was successful, and granted Ian superhuman abilities without any adverse effects.
The government wanted to keep Ian a secret and use him for black ops, but he had other ideas. He addressed the United Nations publicly and proclaimed he would defend any country's citizens whenever they were in danger. He soon became an icon of international heroism and freedom.
Personality
Ian is an idealist through and through. Educated, well-funded, and with his family's support behind nearly everything he does, he easily and proudly presents an image of one of the greatest American heroes the world has seen.
Ian Yoshida takes on the responsibility of an entire supergroup, all on his own. He's obsessed with sacrificing his own needs, making things harder for himself, and never pausing to ask a question. He believes he's the perfect soldier--not a mindless order-follower, but a just warrior--and that this makes him the perfect hero, too.
To call Ian humble would be a lie. Americans should be proud, after all, right? Well he is. Of his country, of himself, and of his lifestyle. (Which is also flawless, of course--no drinking, gambling, partying, sleazing, fine dining, fun...)

The Evolutionary
An assassin and chemist obsessed with human evolution, The Evolutionary hunts metahumans and monsters to collect their DNA and engineer serums with them. He once captured Captain Ally and extracted all the BUFF from him, leaving him unpowered, and Captain Ally had to trick The Evolutionary into locking himself in his own lab.

Combustion
Combustion is the greatest soldier in Empress Zorg's army and one of the Penultimates, a squad of the Empress's most elite servants working to conquer Earth. Combustion's methods are very straightforward: Blow things up, shoot what's left. She and Captain Ally both battle over Earth, and over what it means to be a soldier.

- Ian is fluent in 5 languages: English, Russian, German, Japanese, and Hindi. He is conversation-level in Chinese, Spanish, and French.
- Ian's father is of Japanese descent, and his mother is of German descent.
- Proud to be straightedge, Ian never smokes, drinks alcohol, or uses any drugs except those prescribed by a doctor. He's even reluctant to use off-the-shelf pain meds and avoids caffeine.
- Ian doesn't tan, he just gets sunburned.
