Appearance and Personality
Marcel has a triangular face, pointed with high cheek bones and a pointed chin. His intense eyes are a jade green and his thick brows angle downwards at the ends, acting as natural, arced extensions from his broad and rounded nose. The ends of his mouth seem to have a slight upwards inclinations and his hair is kept braided in neat cornrows. Marcel's dress sense leans more towards the formal side of things, dressing in a variety of well-fit button up shirts and dark trousers.
As Adapto, Marcel's appearance takes a rather drastic change. His arms and legs reveal their cybernetic nature, the arms disproportionately large with the rest of his body. His eyes change from the green on white to an intense black, with a glowing blue dot in the centre. Adapto's cybernetics are a clean silver, the inlays glowing blue, and he often chooses to dress practically while like this.
Marcel is full of odd behavioural ticks, with a mood that frustratingly fluctuates between intensely eager, happy and inspired to being scatter brained and apathetic. Despite these swings, Marcel tries his best to be a decent person overall, doing what he can to help those within his circle of influence. Marcel believes that there is an ultimate meaning, and help those around you is only a small part of it..
Background
Born in April 1994, Marcel is the younger sibling of Tyrone Simmons, born in '88 and the son to Marj & Caleb Simmons. He lived a pressured childhood, with his father among the most intelligent humans on the planet, his mother a former Intelligence Analyst and current government agent and his brother being a high school sports star. Marcel proved to be intelligent and capable, but unfocused, not having an area where he truly excelled.
At age 14, Marcel is caught in an explosion inside of his fathers workshop and lost use of his limbs, and probably would have died were it not for his brother managing to retrieve him from the scene. Marcel was rushed to hospital, where he would remain for months. During that time, his father shut himself away, refusing to see or talk to anyone. While it appeared he was dealing with grief, Marcel's father emerged from his reclusive absence with what would become the prototype for the Adapto limbs. A year of rehabilitation followed for Marcel, relearning how to use his now-cybernetic limbs. At age 16, Marcel was stronger and faster than other teens thanks to his cybernetics. It was during these years that life seemed to force Marcel to excel, discovering his aptitude in physics and engineering in order to better look after himself, and not rely on his fathers knowledge.
Marcel ventured into the world of heroics, the force of responsibility pushing him, taking the name Adapto. Whatever the world threw at him, he could overcome it.
Skills
- Genius: Adapto has proven time and time again that his intelligence is nothing to be scoffed at. As well as being a master of cybernetics and physics, Adapto has shown to apply his brains in the areas of strategy and long-term planning.
- Judo & Boxing: These martial arts act as a base for Adapto's close combat capabilities, but he is still an amateur
- Adaptive Fighting: When it comes to close combat, Adapto will ultimate go by 'whatever works' in that instant, even if judo and boxing are what he primarily uses.
- Sovereign of his Body: His cybernetics have been adjusted in preparation with encounters with technopaths and other similar enemies. How he does this is unknown, but ARISTOTLE seems to play a part.
Equipment
- Extensive Cybernetics: Adapto's body is roughly 50% cybernetic, allowing him to move faster and hit harder than the average person. His eyes are also cybernetic and linked with an AI of his own design called ARISTOTLE . The AI analyses the combat situations Adapto finds himself in and readies plans for possible improvements and alterations to his cybernetics. The combat strength of Adapto's cybernetics comes from their versatility, keeping a variety of modes and tools fitted within them.
- Charge Cannisters: Along Adapto's belt are a set of cannisters that contain what appears to be a glowing blue liquid. These are the charge cannisters. Upon inserting into Adapto's boost pack (which acts as a connecting point for his cybernetics), his the effectiveness of his cybernetics increases greatly for a short period of time. This does include general capabilities (strength & speed) and energy capabilities (blasts etcetera). When the effect fades, Adapto's limbs are left at 50% less effectiveness than usual until he can catch his breath.
Inventions
- ARISTOTLE: Artificial Receptive Information Storage and Transcendent Online Technological Entity. ARISTOTLE is a hyper-intelligent AI created by Marcel. To AI and robotics experts, ARISTOTLE is fishy. It is far too advanced for Marcel to have developed alone, yet he claims it to be of his own design. ARISTOTLE feigns semi-awareness, and is entirely conscious, aiding Marcel for reasons unknown. ARISTOTLE is apparently rather rude to guests.
- The Ultra Mass Atom Displacter (The UMAD): Utilizing the power of the Atomica particle discovered in the 70s and gravitons, the UMAD acts as a transportation device through the multiverse. The UMAD was one of Adapto's first major accomplishments of science, creating a 'door' to other universes. Adapto makes frequent use of the UMAD, taking brief study trips to other realities.
- Brother System: An attempt to create a shell for ARISTOTLE gone wrong. This robot developed its own awareness, and began to learn at astronomic speeds, even learning how to replicate the powers of metahumans. With Dyna-Boy's help, the process was brought back to human-like speeds, avoiding the creation of a potential threat. Brother System now wanders the planet, observing various cultures and learning, where he is welcome.
- And Much More: Marcel goes through projects quickly, and his workshop is filled with the results. Who knows what most of that stuff does.
Weaknesses
- Just a Man: While his cybernetics do give him an edge, Marcel is only a human being at the end of the day, born from a human mother and father. He can be hurt just like anyone else.
- Emotionally Unstable: Marcel can be on a highs in one moment, and into a low the other. It does not take much to bring Marcel down into a slump or make him doubt himself. This may play into his odd sleeping habits (or lack there of) and caution when approaching others for conversation. He may appear to have a large ego, but that is mostly a façade to reassure himself.
- His Back: An exoskeleton runs up his spine, acting as the hub for his cybernetics. Should it be damaged enough, he could very well lose use of the entire cybernetics system, or at least cause trouble with them.

Allies
- Devil Ray - "I don't know about Ray. He seemed like a nice enough guy starting out. Odd, yes, but nice. The whole thing with his dad changed him, understandably too. I hope being a villain does not run in the Right blood."
- Wavegirl - "Mariana is nice. I have a lot of confidence that she's going to be a great person when she gets older...heck, she already is one in my book. She needs to ditch that Chad guy for good, though. It's weird."
- Victory - "Lisa's like the sister I never had, I guess. I pick fun at her a lot, but that's because I trust her to dish it back with no hard feelings. It's mean for me to say this, but she's the closest thing to my equal on the Renegades. In a completely different field, sure, but there's overlap there. We can talk about things."
- Soldier Boy - "I like to think of Alex as my best friend. I'm unsure if the feeling is mutual, but it's hard to tell anything with Alex that isn't 'discontent', 'normal' and 'slightly amused'. Still, he has had my back, so I've got his. Homies help homies."
- Powerbolt - "She had issues, but she seems to be moving on. A rising star in the hero community, as well. I'm glad life's getting better for her, and I hope it stays that way."
- All-Star - "After my mind left the Polychoron, I left a lot of stuff. All-Stars memories was one of them. I don't just mean the ones he remembers, I mean all of them. It's a two way street, as well. So we've got a special friendship thing going on there."
- Power Play - "Benji's weird. Not superhero weird, but just normal weird. It seems like he's just a guy who gets pulled into our stuff, but genuinely wants to help out. Because of that, I'm fine with him being around. Better someone who wants to fight the good fight to the best of their ability, you know? I'm sure he'll get better at it, anyway."
- Star Sentry - "Vaishara is...I don't know. She's great. Patient to the point of putting up with my faults, but supportive as well. Lets just leave it at that."
- Star & Ace - "I don't know Star as well as I do Ace. My experiences of Star so far have been annoying, at best. I get along really well with Ace, though. She seems to get me, you know? That's usually a lot to ask from people, so I'm glad she's my friend."
Enemies
- Summa Gnosis:
- Shard of the Infinite- Adapto's encounter with a device known as the Polychoron exposed him to something beyond his understanding, perhaps even something which was an existence within its self. This event has done a lot to Adapto, and one of these things is Summa Gnosis. Summa Gnosis is a being which claims to be part of the ultimate and has the capability of bending the observable constants of science in its favour, making it one of the most dangerous beings Adapto has encountered individually. It sought Adapto with a single minded intent of erasing his experience of the polychoron all together. It is currently locked away in the space between universes.
- Paley:
- The Watch Man- Paley has the ability to turn back time by 5 seconds, and retain the memory of the five seconds that never happened. Although he is capable of greater, Paley is a man who chose the life of a thief, being both difficult to hit and catch. When Paley was hired to steal from AdapTech, he managed to enter unnoticed and make away with much of what he came for, even after a brief fight with Adapto.
