Background
Science Fact: Superheroes are tough, but they're not invincible. And the ones that do claim to be invincible die looking really surprised. So who can heroes turn to when they need rescuing? The answer, of course, is ROBOTS! Specifically, Syntha Tech Industries latest and greatest artificial intelligence construct, the Medical Emergency and Disaster Intervention Construct. Better known as M.E.D.I.C.!
Appearance
Science Fact: Robots are creepy. They can't help it, but thanks to a phenomenon known as “Uncanny Valley”, humanoid robots are subconsciously perceived by humans to be unsettling. This can be problematic for A.I's like MEDICs, whose primary functions require them to be in close contact with injured, panic-stricken humans. Our solution? Have our skilled robot artisans (artisans who make robots, not artisans who are themselves robots, though we have those too.), design each MEDIC's appearance with a compilation of features scientifically proven to be endearing to humans, while still being recognizably synthetic. Their trademark black-rimmed eyeglasses serve no real function, but tested extremely well with focus groups. They stand exactly five feet tall, and weigh in at four hundred pounds. Since MEDIC's regularly synchronize their memories, they are allowed to alter their coloration and armor configurations as they see fit in order to establish their individuality and avoid confusion as to who's memories are who's. However they prefer to stick to familiar patterns of primarily white paint and short haired wigs, citing that they like having a “family resemblance” to one another.
Personality
Science Fact: Humans have a hard time trusting robots. We here at Syntha Tech Industries are aware that the general public are still a bit apprehensive about the notion of sentient A.I.'s, and have taken every precaution to ensure that our MEDIC's put those fears to rest. Each MEDIC is 100% guaranteed to be polite, well-mannered, and helpful to everyone they meet. And while they are equipped with weaponry for self-defense, MEDIC's are very reluctant to resort to violence.
Features
Meet the M.E.D.I.C.s!
Emily
Technically the oldest of the MEDICs by mere nanoseconds, Unit 1 of 5 has been an invaluable addition to the staff of Mercy Hospital and is the standard by which all MEDICs are measured.
Emma
Resident MEDIC of Force Station Steelhead, Unit 2 of 5 is considered excessively polite, even by MEDIC standards.
Embry
Since being assigned to Project Greenskin, Unit 3 of 5 has become increasingly curious about the nature of supernatural phenomenon, (specifically ghosts) and frequently visits Burnside for study. She needs to be reminded quite often that her top priority is the preservation of the living, not investigating the dead.
Emmet
Her time spent in the jungles of Monster Island, aiding UNTIL and B-17, has made Unit 4 of 5 unusually aggressive, and the quickest of the M.E.D.I.C.s to resort to violence to solve her problems. She sports a military green paint job and has opted to be fitted with an S.T.I. Q-36 Pulson Autocannon on her left arm.
Emilia
Unit 5 of 5 of Vibora Bay has taken more days off than all the other MEDICs combined. Which is to say she has actually taken days off. Emilia's chassis has been fitted with denser armor plating to better fend off bites from misguided vampiric hostiles attempting to extract her stores of donor blood.
Comments
If you have encountered a M.E.D.I.C. in an emergency or social situation, please leave a comment and let us know what you think. Syntha Tech Industries welcomes any and all user feedback regarding our Artificial Intelligence constructs.
Very Dedicated, and I'm damn proud to call her a friend. - A.L.I.C.E.
Interesting example of Human Engineering. Rather Effective. Would be interested in examining inner workings.(P.S.: Not like 'that'.) - Myriad
"MEDIC is very sweet and helpful. I don't think I've... well, ever met an android like her before. The team could always use more people capable of making sure everyone's safe." - Charity Corren
"Little girl robot is adorable and very useful to be having around. She did a lot to help friend and I am very grateful." - Surova Grimwish
"MEDIC is a rather interesting creature. She, like...ourself, is inorganic, but she has...quite a personality. We, however, dislike...that she has anti-Starspawn technology...and because of that, we do not feel that...we can trust her as much anymore." / "Medic is freaking adorable, and she's a doctor! Or is she more like a nurse..? I don't know, but I do know that she's a great asset to the team and that I wouldn't switch her out for anyone else!" - Galactigal / Samantha
"Aren't there, like, five of them?" - Blue Freedom
"Not completely awful. She's probably the least incompetent member of New Vigil, given her intellect and resourcefulness. A-And she's very kind, also." - Kid Destroyer
"I like her. Plus, she saved me. Twice. She's totally welcome to like, come over and play video games anytime. Robots like that kind of stuff, right?" - Lash
"She's the cutest and most helpful robot ever. She can heal pretty darn well and I like the one over at Mercy Hospital. They were so sweet." - Heartbeat

"Adorable! She's certainly very nice, which is great to see. Her compassion makes her seem more human than actual humans!" - Bee
"How wonderful is it that we have our own mobile ambulance? It's also nice that she's a cute and thoughtful one!" - Whitecloak
"Despite her artificial nature, I reckon she may just beat me when it comes to social skills. I wouldn't know how many of 'em I've actually met though." - Black Ice
Tropes
Robot Girl Take this one...
Combat Medic...and combine it with this one...
Moe...and multiply it by this you get a MEDIC
Beware the Nice Ones You have been warned.
Science Hero She's a hero, and she's made out of science.
Fun with Acronyms Medical Emergency and Disaster Intervention Construct
Exactly What it says on the Tin Isn't it obvious?
Gosh Dang it to Heck! MEDIC's programming prevents her from swearing. Any attempt to do so is replaced with a *BLEEP!*
Do-Anything Robot Hacking into laptops? Developing weapons? Overriding satellites? Is there anything MEDIC can't do?
Genius Bruiser Super smart and strong enough to break down reinforced steel doors.
Ridiculously Human Robot She frequently exhibits some very human-like behaviors, many of which she wasn't originally programmed with.
Cute Machine Scientifically designed to be adorable.
Arm Cannon MEDIC's anti-starspawn weapon.
Three Laws Compliant Somewhat subverted here. MEDIC knows of the Three Laws and follows them, but she isn't bound by them. If she thinks it's necessary, MEDIC can disobey orders and harm humans. Besides, the Three Laws are more like guidelines than actual laws.
Adorkable Watch her geek out over a new video game or an organic species she's never met before.
