Built as part of the Canadian Forces Advanced Combat Drone Project, ALICE (Short for Advanced Light Infantry Combat Enforcer) was built by Bytown Industries, designed by Dr. Sarah Forrester and Dr. Frank Oldhammer, and first activated in 2005, in Ottawa, Ontario. From 1998 to 2008, Her existence was classified as Top Secret by the Canadian Forces. In 2009, Project ALICE was declassified after an attack on Bytown Industries HQ committed by Hunter-Patriots. This attack was foiled by the brave men and women of the Governor General's Foot Guards, and the ALICE Prototype. However, Dr Frank Oldhammer suffered major injuries, losing his left arm and right leg. Dr. Oldhammer would then go rogue 2 months later, adopting the moniker Dr. Null.
In 2011, ALICE entered an extended trial period, Being Involved in various emergencies in Millennium City, Monster Island, Project Greenskin and Northern Canada; as well as participating in the Canadian Forces role in the War in Afganistan. Later in the year, ALICE proved herself to the Canadian Forces by single-handily rescuing a stranded UNTIL unit from the Qliphotic Realm. The Trial period was completed and the Canadian Forces gave Bytown Industries a contract for 400 ALICE units.
Since being declassified, ALICE has been in the media's spotlight. Such as being interviewed by various Technology publications and blogs, Pundits either condemning her or supporting her. Even with all this media pressure on her, ALICE is unfazed by it, stating "I rather would want my actions to speak for me. But hey, such is the life of being in the spotlight, Press Conferences are just part of the song and dance."

ALICE was, for all intents and purposes designed to have an unshackled AI than can learn from previous experiences. While some may be skeptical of a combat droid with that amount of freedom, ALICE has proven the doubters wrong. Tenacious, altruistic, and a willingness to think outside the box, ALICE has made a positive impact for AIs and Robots everywhere.
Standing at 5'7" and weighing 375 Lb in her Armoured combat form, ALICE very much looks like a robot. Her paintjob varies from the Red, Black and White of her hometown NHL Team; To her Canadian Forces paintjob: Green with black. While her paint job may vary, one part does not. On her chest armour is a RCAF rondel: a blue ring surrounding a red maple leaf. More recently, her chassis has been upgraded to also support a less-armoured infiltration mode, which ALICE calls her "skinjob".
