Whenever Tyrfing is drawn, its wielder transforms into a berserker possessing immense physical strength, resilience, speed, reflexes, bloodthirst and regenerative abilities, becoming a nigh unstoppable juggernaut on the battlefield. Furthermore, while Tyrfing dulls rational thought it proportionally increases instinctual awareness and the sharpness of one's senses, making the wielder into an extremely efficient warrior capable of making split second decisions without even thinking. Though not fool-proof, this makes the wielder less of a rampaging brute and more of a cunning beast in battle.
Tyrfing
Once a cursed sword with a golden hilt, Tyrfing hungers for blood more so than possibly any other blade in existance. Enchanted to take a life whenever it was drawn, capable of cutting through stone and steel as if it was silk, the spirit of the viking hero Hjalmar beseeched the dwarves upon reaching Valhalla to find the sword and render it harmless, so that it doesn't take more lives in vain. With a piece of bark from Yggdrasil, the Dwarves crafted an ornate sheeth for the sword. Once sheathed within, the flawless blade was suddenly covered in wood from the world tree, becoming blunt and harmless as a result, incapable of taking another life. The sword still hungers for blood, nonetheless, and as such drives its wielder into a frenzy whenever its drawn, in a vain attempt to fulfil its duty.
Weaknesses
Berserk
While Berserk, Tyrfing loses his restraint more and more as the battle progresses. Hiw powers grow with his bloodthirst, but it all comes at the cost of control and virtue. While at the beginning of his berserker transformation, he possesses a modicum of his self-control and all of his personal beliefs and values, those slowly wash off and degenerate into a ceaseless hunger for battle and bloodshed. Because of this, Viggo is very cautious of fighting as Tyrfing for longer periods of time.
Mental Condition
Viggo suffers from a slew of mental disorders as a result of childhood abuse. Among those are alexithyma, social anxiety and borderline depersonalization disorder. In layman's terms, Viggo has a hard time expressing and recognizing emotions and impressions, thus often coming off as stoic, distant and dispassionate in normal conversations. This causes him no small amount of grief, and he's quite ashamed of himself for this very reason. Whenever he draws Tyrfing, however, the "floodgate" that keeps his emotions from coming to show is removed and he can feel everything with excess. Because of this, Viggo is heavily reliant on Tyrfing in order to keep himself human, far as he's considered.
