Born and raised in an all-female commune, Moonbeam would later learn that some of the women were practitioners of something called "Dianic Wicca", a form of neopaganism that focused on goddess worship. These women noticed some talent in Moonbeam, and took her under their tutelage. Over time, it became readily apparent that Moonbeam's natural ability far exceeded anything the women were capable of themselves. Determined to learn as much as she could about her gifts--and growing disillusioned with the commune's exclusionary isolation--Moonbeam struck out on her own. She traveled the country for some time, falling into and out of various circles of friends and covens of practitioners, until a chance encounter led her to seek out her father. She eventually tracked him down to Windsor, Ontario, just a short drive from Millennium City, and all the training and knowledge the latter had to offer.
