History
Origins
There is a legend about a princess who was kidnapped by the Slitherfang Tribe in order to extort concessions from the Empire in its colonial era, concessions already given to the Skytalon Tribe in return for their pledge of friendship and loyalty to the Crown. The Skytalons and Slitherfangs went to war over this affront, and the Skytalons were almost destroyed by their enemies. Their Sunspeaker had died, and his apprentice, new to the role, called upon their Gods to give him the power to save his people and rescue their ally's princess. The Gods answered his plea, and gave him the power of a great warrior. He entered the Slitherfang camp and slew their leader, and rescued the princess. In their journey to return her to her home they fell in love, but her station demanded she marry another. He swore to stay by her side and serve her in any way she desired.
The Skytalons and Slitherfangs have long since faded into obscurity, the old ways replaced with mobile phones and modern warfare. Jm'Baque of the Skytalon Tribe, known now as Sir James Queenshawk, aged much slower than his beloved, and continues to serve her family to this day. When not using his powers to fight evil directly, Queenshawk operates as the liason between Her Majesty's Office of Superhuman Affairs and UNTIL. He has most recently been assiting The Champions in Millenium City in dealing with the alien invasion and the crisis resulting in its aftermath.
Personality
Powers & Abilities
- Divine Might: Queenshawk is the avatar of the Gods of the Skytalon tribe. When he asked for the power to fight the Slitherfangs, they chose to invest a majority of their power in him, knowing the tribe would soon be gone and them with it if they did not find a way to continue their existence.
- Invulnerability: Just as his Gods bestowed him with great strength, they also made his body impervious to most damage as well as immune to diseases and toxins. He does age, but much slower than normal human beings, and so far without detrimental effect.
- Martial Artist: Though he has tremendously enhanced physical might, Queenshawk has studied a variety of martial arts styles in an effort to apply more speed and precision to his fighting style, rather than depend purely on physical strength which can cause unintended injuries to less durable opponents, as well as collateral damage to the nearby environment. Though he holds back early in most fights, as he gets a better feel for the limits of his opponent, he does allow himself to hit harder.
Equipment
Armor
- Flight Rig: Though technically classified as powered armor, the purpose of this partial suit is to provide flight and to keep Queenshawk firmly attached to his thrusters. His physical invulnerability makes any further armoring redundant... Though he does wear a helmet and visor to keep bugs out of his face and hair.
Weapons
- Wingblade Bracers: Based on an ornamental design used mostly for traditional ritual combat, these collapsible blades are forged from a lightweight but nearly indestructible alloy of Kendrium and Questionite. Depending on how they are used to strike a blow, they can produce simple bludgeoning effects or slice through hardened armor.
- Electroentropic Field Generator: Queenshawk can engage this specialized force field generator to defend himself from more dangerous attacks. Furthermore, it affects everything nearby that hasn't been grounded to the proper frequency with surging pulses of electromagnetic waves, which damage structural integrity.
- Automated Defense Drones: Queenshawk makes use of a variety of robotic units that can provide fire support, recorded scouting and observation, as well as medical assitance.
Devices
- HUD Enabled Eyewear: Queenshawk's combat visor and monocle are both equipped for digital communication.
Vechicles
- Skyhawk: Though capable of flying great speeds just using his jetpack, for long distance travel Queenshawk makes use of a custom Rolls Royce Model 3 Skyhawk.

Inspirations
Though there are obvious superficial similarities to Sam Wilson's Falcon (especially the version seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier) any inspiration from there is unintentional. When developing the concept for the character, two things were foremost in my mind:
1) Those wingblade bracers would be awesome for Dual Blades attacks if I could get a "none" option for the blades in the costume editor.
2) The source of VIPER's origin in contact with old African tribes, and similar "pulp" stories such as the Solomon Kane tales set in Africa.
I decided I liked the wingblades as a modern variation of bird-themed dress for a tribal shaman, then mixed that with some Victorian dress for what was at that time going to be a steampunk character who had come forward in time. Eventually I ditched the steampunk part of that in favor of all modern supertech. I ended up going with Beatdown as a primary attack because it looked the most like striking with the wingblades. I made the character a black man because I found the concept appealing to tell a story about a tribesman who chose to let go of "the old ways" and embrace the modern world, even though it meant leaving behind everything he knew for the love of a woman he could never be with. I gave him blue hair because I think it looks cool.
