And lo', by the laws of light and justice, He set forth unto the stone earth, a weapon to use against him. And he said,

"My children. Should I become thine enemy, or should another like me, taketh thou this hand with which to strike me down. For if I do justice naught, and honor naught, then you will have the hands of both God and Devil to undo my wisdom and power."

History

Elysium

A drawing of Godhand done by the player.
Godhand was born in the realm of Elysium to serve as a holy warrior, in a subset of the celestial religions. He fought in the war against Lucifer and the others, ultimately hunting down several in the aftermath. During this time he took the name Balthiel; a somewhat common name. He made an acquaintance of fellow angel Malachor whose raven hair stood in stark contrast to Balthiel's silvery blonde. The two were close friends, but Malachor was always slightly undisciplined and spirited. He would sometimes play pranks and often get upset. Neverthless, neither was particularly troublesome.

Over time, Balthiel grew to be a strong young man and did so well defending the Kingdom of God that he was scouted by the angel Luceria to join a cryptic gang of Seraphim devoted to one goal: to kill gods. The misconception with the title is that not every Elysium denizen accepts the existence of many pantheons of different deities across the diverse circles of Elysium. (Groups such as the Greek pantheon, the Christian God, the Egyptian pantheon, and the pantheon of New Gods Balthiel became an observant to.) His mentor, Luceria likewise invited Malachor to join the cadre of God-Killers to protect the world, and uphold the balances of justice and evil.

The Fall

Balthiel served Luceria for many years and became one of the elite five warriors, relying on his vast strength and superior size to simply smash demons or fallen angels with his fists. However, he came to question his life when Luceria began to remark on the fairness of their patron deity, Goddess Agra. Luceria rallied the support of Malachor, Seraphis and Metatrite (her followers) and slew Agra. Balthiel walked in as she died, and came to realize the severity of his position. Luceria meanwhile, as the acting head of the group, took Agra's responsibilities for herself, and essentially took over that pocket of Elysium.

Seeing that Luceria was possibly megalomaniacal, Balthiel investigated Agra's apparent 'crimes' to find evidence of injustice. Likewise, Malachor was sent by Luceria to keep an eye on Balthiel and hopefully interrupt his search. Balthiel did find out that Luceria had wrongly murdered Agra, and Malachor chose to side with him. Balthiel confronted Luceria in private where she revealed her intent to take control of Elysium, and argued that if Balthiel wanted to kill her, this would be his only chance.

Outraged at the discovery, Balthiel instead chose to give up everything he once was in Elysium, to become a God-killer on Earth. He left everything behind, including his name, and was reborn on Earth. Malachor was devastated by the apparent betrayal, but chose to trust Balthiel. He too left Elysium in the same manner deciding to choose the side of his most trusted friend.

Tribal Life

A drawing of Godhand done by Felsus.
Godhand's arrival on Earth erased a significant part of who he was, and damaged the manner in which his powers functioned. His arcane limiters that provided access to his former abilities of fire, essentially broke upon impact. While they were still capable of inhibiting his strength, they were magically fused to his skin and could not be removed. In addition, he had lost much of his physical age and impacted the earth as a newborn baby. He wandered lost and without consciousness across the desert for 10 years, sustained only by his limiters. During this time, Malachor (Devilhand) likewise met a similar fate with his powers of darkness.

Eventually Godhand wandered his way into a tribal camp, lured by chants to his former order of God-Hunters. He found a group of nomads who knew much of the God-Killers, and based on their texts believed the boy who wandered into their midst had been blessed with the hands of a god. Devilhand arrived only moments later in a like-wise dream-like state, and was decreed the Devilhand.

According to the tribes, neither Godhand nor Devilhand was good or evil, and existed to balance the right amount of justice. Together they were supposed to mete out the correct amount of peace and violence to keep the world both happy, wise, and controlled. They were raised under these tenets, and accepted them well. Devilhand at one point however, splintered off from the group and rallied support to start a war against Godhand. The reason for this is unknown as the decision was very sudden, and up until that point neither had done anything except what they were told. Godhand fought his 'brother', and in the midst of that battle learned to harness the energy of his augments to form a lava-like shell. In many ways this made him resemble a demon.

After the battle, he decided to leave his tribal life behind, and find purpose elsewhere.

Becoming a Hero

Godhand at about 50 feet. His record size is 75.
Godhand traveled to Millennium City on a whim, and opened a bank account on tribal gold. It was a modest amount, but enough to get him clothes, food, an apartment, and a job interview. Since he was able to change his size, he was a good asset in construction. The Qularr invasion however destroyed a lot of the new infrastructure he'd helped to build which made him most unhappy. He fought back against the Qularr and was honored alongside many other heroes at the crisis's end. He did not participate in cleaning up Canada or the Desert however, and instead went back to construction.

The Qularr invasion changed people's outlook on him significantly, and he was noted to be a hero by many despite not having an official devotion to it. However, due to his powers and intimidating appearance, UNTIL forced him to register as a hero regardless. Since people who could sustain a giant size indefinitely were not entirely common, Godhand was picked up for a number of jobs worldwide, which he answered for the decent pay. Against, but not contrary to, his intent, he had become a super-hero full-time.

Due to his past, Godhand is almost irresistibly drawn to Vibora Bay since operations against Therakiel are exactly the kinds of jobs he performed in his previous life in Elysium. As such his hero work has put him at odds with a few minor villains who GREATLY underestimate Godhand's abilities. On a whim he joined White Star Avengers Initiative to get some pointers on how to fight better, and to keep in-the-know of criminal operations he might otherwise never discover.

Powers, Abilities, Weaknesses

A turnaround of Godhand.
Strength - Godhand's main power is his super strength. At his normal size he can lift appx. 200 tons standing, even with his limiters affixed. Subsequent increases in size (enrage) further boost his strength, making a limit indeterminable, assuming gameplay mechanics are ignored.

Size-Changing - He is very large even at his smallest state, being 7 feet 5 inches stationary, and weighing more than 2 tons.

Max Size - Godhand's size changing is not limitless. Currently his record max is 75 feet for 4 seconds before the resistance from his limiters wore him out. For his own safety, and the safety of others, it is rare that he goes beyond 25 feet in height, and prefers to remain at 15 feet for extended periods of time.

Mass Transfer - For a very brief period of time, he can 'borrow' an object's mass and size to momentarily increase his own. The transfer must be triggered by sudden physical contact, so it only works if he hits you.

Technology Implementation - Since he had a little trouble against certain opponents, Godhand looked into getting an energy shield, as well as a supression drive to help him be tougher, and faster.

Limiters - Even if he doesn't always wear his limiters, the effects DO NOT wear off. The limiters inhibit increases in size and mass, so he has to work to stay large. The bigger and heavier he gets the more the magic resists, so it is very difficult to stay very big for very long.

Defensive Capacities - While his skin is very tough, he is nowhere near invulnerable. That and he has an extremely limited ability to recover from damage, which puts a huge chink in his armor. While he is undoubtedly very big and strong, he does not have an iron defense to supplement it.

As a God-Killer – The name does imply that he SHOULD be completely indestructible, possibly even more powerful than a god. However, this power only activates when it is needed, and only long enough for a single punch. The Banishing Fist as he calls it, is powerful enough to negate the existence of whoever he uses it on, but it can only be used against Gods.

Personality

Godhand as drawn by Erik Von Lehmann.
He would be best described as 'stoic'. Godhand speaks very calmly and doesn't ever raise his voice. He is not one to brag and remains very level about all things. He does not typically start conversations himself, unless he requires information. Most conversations with Godhand start with statements from others regarding his size. Having lived his known childhood amongst people who didn't care, and working a job with workers who rely upon it, he rarely bothers to remember that 15 feet may not be an acceptable size for social environments. Even so, he is never bothered when others comment on his height.

Godhand strongly believes in his oath of celibacy; so much so that it is impossible to flirt with him. He has been approached by succubi in the past, but his willpower is as strong as his biceps. He remains very neutral towards flattery, and pretty much all events around him. He doesn't approve of civil conflict, especially in Club Caprice where he likes to hang out and drink Pepsi®. Undeniably, he CAN sometimes be a show off, but most of the time it is not something he can help. When a 15 foot lava monster walks into a bar, it's bound to attract attention.

His recent experiences socializing with others have begun to rekindle an essence of mischief and spunk, previously thought lost to him. He still remains very casual in matters of opinions, but an element of sarcasm and cynicism has been slowly brewing. Plus, he has begun to exhibit more character physically, having been infected with lycanthropy.

Enemies

• Devilhand - His close friend and rival. He is not resolutely evil. Malachor/Devilhand is perhaps jealous of Godhand's abilities, but still trusts him completely.

• Misfit - A modest accountant whose life was ruined by one of Godhand's battles with Devilhand. He teamed up with a group of convicts to spread 'Chaos and Joy'.

• Metatrite - One of Godhand's old allies as a God-Killer. Metatrite is a healer by nature who is resolutely loyal to Luceria.

• Vector - A tech-head who has something to prove. He is more commonly a foe to Devilhand.

• Seraphis - One of Godhand's old allies as a God-Killer. He is an assassin and an expert with swords.

• Draysha - An ex-VIPER experiment imbued with abilities similar to Godhand.

• Luceria - Godhand's old boss, and his prime nemesis. She has a divine warhammer to smite deities with.
