Appearance
Melova is from a race of extraterrestrials known as the Orani and, as such, shares many features in common with them. Her skin soft and naturally pale green in contrast with her darker green hair, that she wears long, with two locks pulled up into short pigtails. Her eyes are large black reflective saucers and she has a distinct lack of a nose, with small slits for breathing in its place. Two long antennae extend from the top of her head, curling around into spirals that end in a small bulb, and has a long tail that ends in a tuft of dark green hair. In the middle of her forehead is a bright blue gemstone that she's never been seen without - she herself doesn't know if it can be removed without killing her. She's tall for an Orani, which still leaves her pretty short at 5' 1". She claims that she's a fashion model and considered one of the most attractive Orani in her home sector, but it's hard to judge if this is true - nonetheless, she usually comes off as "adorable" to others.
Melova favors clothes that have a decidedly 'retro' feel to them, especially flares and leg warmers. She frequently accessorizes with a collection of silver, ringlike bands that she can hook onto her arms or around her neck. When on official business, she wears a uniform produced by her gemstone - a blue and black top and miniskirt with golden trim and a white star in the middle of her chest. She wears shorts underneath her skirt for modesty's sake, as she spends a lot of time flying around while on the job.
Background
Melova Kalap grew up on Orani IV, just one planet in the benevolent, interstellar Orani Federation. Though her parents were both scientist (as most of the Orani population was), both they and Melova understood that, with her natural magnetism and beautiful features, she was destined for something else. Melova sort of floated her way through the Orani schooling system, earning high enough marks to maintain an average grade, then dove straight into her dream job after graduation: she wanted to be a fashion model. The glitz, the glamor, the fancy clothes and the adoration of the masses were too much for her to pass up! She started with a small agency that mostly handled advertisements for small-time businesses and worked her way up over the course of several years. Melova wasn't going to stop until she reached the top.
And she did, in time. "Melova" soon became a household name as she started showing up in everything, whether it was fashion shows or holovid advertisements - she even starred in a couple of her own movies, though that career was quickly quashed as it was discovered she had no actual acting talent. Even with her natural charisma, it wasn't enough to keep the movies from tanking. She "settled" with making public appearances instead, her favorites being grand openings. In fact, it was during the grand opening of a new mine on an asteroid belt that would change her life forever.
It was Melova's job to break the first rock on interstellar holovision. After waving and smiling at the camera, she hefted the Orani mining tool and pressed the head against the asteroid. With a press of a button, the head impacted against the rock, sending a shockwave through that shattered a large chunk into bits and pieces... except for a single blue gemstone. Midnight blue and with twinkles like starts shining from inside, it hovered in place before the shocked crowd; Orani science was impressive, and this was hardly the strangest thing any of them had seen... but this was no Orani technology! Suddenly and unexpectedly, the gemstone shot forward, crushing itself into Melova's skull and sending her flying back into the crowd, unconscious.
Melova woke up in a hospital the next day, joined by her parents and a member of the Orani Security Administration. It seemed that, during her sleep, strange phenomena surrounding Melova had occured: she would mysteriously rise into the air, surrounded by a light blue aura that seemed to originate from the gemstone. Sometimes the aura would extend outwards and wrap around objects in the room, upending them or tossing them into the air. It seemed that the gemstone had granted her some sort of superpowers - a phenomenon that did not naturally occur among the Orani. As such, she was offered a position in the OSA, where she would be able to not only put her newfound powers to good use protecting the Federation, but she could serve as a symbol of Orani pride and power. Melova agreed without hesitation; she was more than willing to become the first Orani superhero.
She received the standard OSA training and was offered a special position of her own naming. Choosing to dub herself "Super Special Agent", Melova eagerly went out on any mission the OSA passed down to her, usually rescue and retrieval operations that her unique powers would make far easier and safer than they would be if the OSA had sent a regular rescue squad. She was eager to prove herself to her superiors and show the Orani that, no matter what, the Federation would work towards a brighter and better tomorrow.
But even superheroes need breaks sometimes, and Melova was no exception. After years of non-stop dedicated service, she requested her very first vacation. With the OSA's approval, Melova packed her bags into her flying saucer and departed Orani IV, setting the coordinates for a very special, very intriguing planet that she had heard of quite often during her adventures.
A little blue planet known as 'Earth'.
Personality
Melova is a kind and compassionate young woman who holds a firm belief that, no matter how joyous the day is, one should always work towards a better and brighter tomorrow - a belief shared amongst most of the Orani, but one that seems to have taken root especially well in Melova's heart. To this end, she works to spread peace, cheer and goodwill wherever she can. She has yet to encounter anyone that she honestly, truthfully hates and does her very best to find at least one redeeming quality in even the most vile of people. Melova's the type that favors a peaceful, diplomatic solution to every problem, because that way people rarely have to suffer through the rigors of battle. When conflict proves itself to be unavoidable, Melova always attempts non-lethal takedowns first, as she despises having to personally take a life. She understands that at times it is necessary, however, and tends not to chastise others when they decide to employ lethal tactics.
Melova also has an adventurous streak a mile long. Part of the reason she joined up with the OSA in the first place was so that she could see planets beyond her own solar system, something that few civilian Orani ever manage to do. Out of all the planets she's been too so far, however, she seems to be the most exuberant about finally arriving on Earth; she has enjoyed every moment of her time on the planet and dislikes sitting still for too long, if only because there's still so much left to do. This eagerness to explore is rather infection, just like her positive attitude, and makes it quite a bit easier for her to find companions to join her on her escapades.
