Osprey is a former teen hero, hailing from a dimension similar to this one. Her father's death motivated her to follow in his footsteps. Much of her young life has involved training in secret, pushing herself to the limit. She arrived in Millennium City a little over a year ago, following friends that had been displaced from their home dimension. Eventually she set up a base of operations in this dimension, with a stable portal connecting to her headquarters in her home dimension. She now serves and protects the people of both dimensions, doing what she can to help those who can't help themselves.

Kari is the daughter of a museum curator and a museum docent, both of whom work at the City Central Museum. Both had an incredible love for history, so it was no surprise that at least one of their children took an interest as well. One afternoon she was spending time with her dad at the museum and was accidentally exposed to an alien artifact. It burrowed into her chest, and she was hospitalized for a few weeks while doctors tried to figure what happened and how to correct it. As Kari was in and out of consciousness, the thing inside her spoke to her. It explained that it had been on Earth for hundreds of thousands of years. It had awakened recently, and disguised itself as various items in its search to find a proper host. It had chosen Kari as its new host, because it felt that she would be a force for great good. Doctors finally determined that there was nothing they could do about the thing that had taken up residence inside Kari. It was, in fact, doing more good than harm being there, and that trying to remove the thing would prove to be fatal. She decided to use the powers granted to her by the Artifact to help others in need.
