Fictional character biography
Before becoming a super-heroine
Childhood : 1983 - 1994
Nadia was born on April 14, 1983 in Juvisy-sur-Orge, a little town near Paris. Her parents, Joseph and Hélène, were both teachers. She has a little sister, Sophie, who is two years younger than her. She knew a difficult time in the first years when her sister came into her family but she managed to overcome her feelings.
Nadia was the kind of girl every parents wish to have. She was nice, polite and did extremely well at school. Even in her early years she seemed to show a particular affinity with music, a passion that will lead her to take singing and piano lessons.
During summer 1994, she and her family left Juvisy for Paris itself were Joseph was transferred. Like her sister, she hardly managed to overcome this change in her life as she had made friends with many classmates. Being shy, Nadia then gradually starts to withdraw into herself.
Adolescence : 1994 - 2001
Arriving in a new school where she didn't know anybody was difficult to overcome for Nadia. Then, her two first years in middle school went very bad as she was made fun by some guys for being a red hair. However, during her first year she went close with one of her classmate, Luna Cavenaghi. The two girls rapidly grew special affinity as they seemed to share the same difficulties with other classmates. Although Luna and Nadia were completely different, they managed to become very best friends, as they seemed to complete each other perfectly. They went even close to the point that Luna was regularly sleeping in her friend's home.
Years passing, Nadia had also to overcome more and more tense relations with her sister. If Sophie was less turbulent she had been, she however seemed to hardly bear her sister's presence by her side. The culminating point of her rivalry happened after Sophie convinces a guy not to become Nadia's boyfriend, even though he had a crush on her. This resulted in a cold war between the two sisters, cold war that would last for years.
When she left middle school for high school, Nadia gradually lost track of her best friend Luna as they didn't attend the same school. After she got her high school and music diplomas, she chose to leave Paris for Brittany as she wanted to enter one of best nursing schools in France. She also left her family while still being mad about her sister even though she apologized several times.
School of Nurses : 2001 - 2004
Despite being far away from her family, Nadia never appeared to be happier in her life. She both enjoyed the freedom she had and teaching of her new school. Moreover, in 2002 she reconnected with the one who was her best friend when she was a teenager.
In March 2003, Nadia met for the first time Angela Cavenaghi, Luna's twin sister. Four months later, during holidays, she met Katarina Lysenko and Jared Forrester.
During that summer, she learned that her sister Sophie also planned to establish herself in Brittany as their parents both asked for a transfer in that region of France were they grew up. For financial reasons they asked Nadia to live alongside her sister, what she categorically refuses. However, she couldn't turn on this request as her parents were more and more insisting. Living alongside her sister soon revive tensions between the two siblings. The culminating point of this tension came when Nadia was helped to express all her hate of her sister in front of her. This was like a shock for both girls, but even more for Nadia that suddenly took awareness of all the immense negative sentiments she had, breaking in pieces that gentle and lovable girl image she had of herself. After having realized that she was for several years the «bad sister», she finally decided to come closer to Sophie and to have an appeased relation with her.
Professional life : 2004 - 2006
In summer 2004, Nadia moved in a new building that Jared managed to buy. She then possessed a spacious apartment that she shared with her sister and lived comfortably alongside her friends. In September she finally got her nurse diploma allowing her to be recruited in a hospital

On September 10, 2006, Nadia and her friends went for walk in the Paimpont Forest, reaching different historical places of this forest. Whereas their trip was close from the end, they arrived where the Ponthus Beech stood. Luna's sister, Angela, noticed how many stones there were, lying down at the roots of the tree. She took one of them and noticed how square the stone was. She cleaned it with Jared's knife and she saw that the stone was composed of nine little bricks stuck together. She decided to keep and clean that stone when she'll be back at home. While cleaning it, her friends were trying to find other similar stones, in vain.
Half an hour later, Angela was back at home and was cleaning the stone she had discovered. After having removed clay and herbs, she decided to bring the brick to Jared to have his opinion. He stated that the stone could be a kind of old stone-made puzzle and consequently was trying to move faces but didn't succeed. Jared's fiancee, Katarina, then offered her services. As her strength was — already — so much greater than her friends, she managed to rotate the faces. Jared then realized that the stone was effectively what he had guessed.
Before having dinner together, Nadia and her friends met together for a pre-dinner drinks. While they were chatting, Jared tried resolve the cube but was interrupted in his attempt — or quite because he had just finished — by a power failure that left the whole city without power for five minutes.
Unexplainable changes
After a few days Nadia started to noticed small changes in her everyday life. First she felt a great tiredness inside her whole body, especially in her arms and legs. She also noticed that some of her clothes had shrunk. She didn't pay attention to that point as her friends told her that their cloths had also shrunk. The following week, as things went on, Luna realized that she was the one that was growing instead of her clothes shrinking.
She started then to panic, as this collective growth was totally unexpected and unexplainable. On september 24, Nadia was 6 ft 2 in (1.88 meters). She was upside down and she needed to be followed-up medically. Things weren't better during the following week, Nadia going growing and soon reaching 6 ft 5 in (1.96 meters) at the end of the week. But as soon as this growth spurt seems to have ended an other one appeared, more dramatic and painful.
The following week was one of the most painful Nadia had never had to endure. She was suffering now from undying hunger. Her meals were gargantuan and she couldn't control herself. Her hunger was so great that some nights she had to wake up twice to eat everything she could. Side-effect of this, Nadia's body radically changed. She began to become very muscular and heavy. Her weight increased so much that it reached 275 lb (125 kg), causing a real trauma to her.
Discovery of new possibilities
The first days of October were terrible for Nadia and her friends, especially Luna who had endured the same growth spurts but even worse. She refused to go out, arguing everything she could. As things seems to go worse, Katarina literally took Nadia's and Luna's hand and forced them to go out in public with her. This experience was painful at first but they quickly realized that the people's stare wasn't that terrible, as the vast majority just seemed not to care. As Katarina forced them to go out every day, they managed to leave this sentiment of shame behind them. She also invited them to a gym-club in order to test their possible new strength. Nadia's and Luna's records were simply staggering as they managed to lift every weight in the gym. This was a revelation for them and the following days were used to evaluate the three friends new strength. Nadia was able to lift a small 1.8 tons car at arms. Luna succeed in lifting this car more easily than her best friend whereas Katarina lifted the car with so much ease that her friends were terrified. Luna then announced her boyfriend and Jared what they were capable of. Jared was paying great attention to everything that was happening, and, when he had evaluated her friends new capabilities, decided to create an advice company, he invited them to join him. Even though she already had a job, Nadia agreed to follow Jared.
Her life
Before Millennium City
After Nadia discovered her new capacities, she accepted Jared's proposition to become a member of IPCA. With great material and daily medical follow-up she managed to evaluate what she was capable of. She also quit her job as she had more and more difficulties to withstand her colleague's mean comments. She now is a laboratory technician in the IPCA.
At the end of 2009, as her friends flied to Millennium City in order to help super heroes there. As her friend Luna had found a team to join in, she took also contact with super group Vanguard Elite - which has become Wild Authority - and joined them soon after, so as her friends Katarina, Sophie et Angela. Over the missions she learned how to improve her powers, which granted her a new confidence in herself.
Millennium City
As she wanted to keep her identity secret, Nadia took the pseudonym of Karydwen after the name of a Celtic fairy, as she supposed her powers came from some Celtic divinity. As she had in mind to bring her help everywhere she could, she was sent to Arizona and to Canada for her first missions. She first was extremely reticent to use any form of violence, but it became clear that she had no other choice as she couldn't known how to handle the enemies she faced. She then resolved to use her full potential, including her super strength, a power that she, for a long time, wished she didn't have.
Defeating mutants in the Arizona desert was quite a liberation as it was a revelation. Pushed into her ultimate limits, she had to dig very deep into herself and her anger to finally get victorious of this fight. She finally allowed herself to do what she was so afraid of for many years : being angry and say «no».
As she was more and more involved in different missions, she gained more and more confidence and she was able to master her powers and to discover new abilities, like force manipulation. She also had various feud with Nukk or Valerius Nabothar at that time.
After the disband of Wild Authority, she then became an IPCA full-time and senior member.
