Quick Facts For an Incomplete Page:
1 Human Year = 6 Gnaarl Years
Gnaarl reach adulthood within a year.
Gnaarl litters can consist of up to 20 newborns
Gnaarl gestation period is 2 months
Gnaarl skeletons are extremely dense and near indestructible, frequently used by other species for construction, weaponry and etc. Owning something made of Gnaarl bone is seen as a badge of honour, since they are so difficult to hunt and kill.
Gnaarl possess a caste system broken into five castes: Warrior Caste, Leader Caste, Spiritual Caste, Villager Caste and Out Caste. For the first four castes, you are chosen for your talents at 6 months of age. For the fifth cast, you are considered unwanted and exiled from the planet.
Gnaarl Males = Super strong and durable, enhanced regeneration, enhanced senses, aggressive, bloodthirsty, oftentimes hotheaded and violent when provoked, otherwise relatively well-tempered and amicable. born hunters, more dog-like.
Gnaarl Females = Less strong and durable, faster regeneration, weaker sense of smell and hearing, but significantly greater sense of sight, slightly less aggressive, can be cunning, oftentimes cold and competitive, much more evenly-tempered but much less amicable, much more suited to leader, spiritual and villager roles, more cat-like
Homeworld of the Gnaarl is Taargrund
Gnaarl have a biological lifespan of 30 years but usually fail to live that long due to reckless lifestyles, warmongering personalities, frequent gladiatorial rituals and, in some cases, blatant death seeking. Most Gnaarl over the age of 15 possess particularly outstanding regeneration, above-average intelligence, exceptional hunting and combat skills or, in some cases, all three. Females tend to live longer.
More civilised races and planets tend to fear or avoid Gnaarl due to their personalities and savagery. As such, Gnaarl are typically the subject of either ridicule or fear, depending on how close the individual has actually gotten to one. They also see Gnaarl overpopulation as an issue.
Likewise, Gnaarl have a notorious xenophobic streak and see many outside species as prey, particularly Voltexi, most of whom they despise. Whilst most Gnaarl hate Voltexi for being cowardly and duplicitous, Gnaarl bounty hunters often butt heads with Voltexi bounty hunters on methods and strategy.
Pulling on a male Gnaarl's tail has a tendency to send that Gnaarl into a berserker rage which can usually only be stopped by a hard blow to the head. Pulling on a female Gnaarl's tail, on the other hand, sends a nurturing impulse to their brains which can make them more reasonable and caring and eliminate anger.
Gnaarl spirituality dictates that the only way for a Gnaarl to ascend to the afterlife after death is to either die fighting another creature or to kill yourself moments before death. This may also be a factor in their short life expectancy.
Gnaarl have an incredible healing factor which makes them both extremely difficult to kill and immune to illness. That said, this healing factor can be overpowered by continuous heavy damage or halted by destroying the Gnaarl's brain. In addition, Gnaarl can also die from asphyxiation, drowning and eating chocolate.
Gnaarl are carnivores. They cannot digest vegetables.
Out Caste Gnaarl often try their luck as bounty hunters and mercenaries, provided they do not simply kill themselves out of shame. Gnaarl mercenaries and bounty hunters are revered by other species for their strength, durability, obedience, dedication and uncanny senses which enable them to track others across entire galaxies. On top of that, they're usually quite cheap, valuing the thrill of their jobs more than the pay.
Gnaarl horns come in different shapes and sizes. All of them are supernaturally dense and indestructible. Few people survive being headbutted or rammed by a Gnaarl and those that do would not recommend it.
Gnaarl frequently participate in gladiatorial rituals where they pit their greatest warriors against dangerous creatures or, at times, each other.
Gnaarl live in a hierarchy where each Caste is seen as being inferior or superior to one another. Out Caste excluded, the Villager Caste is seen as the lowest and is beneath the Warrior Caste. The Warrior Caste, meanwhile, is beneath the Spiritual Caste. The Spiritual Caste is, of course, beneath the Leader Caste.
Gnaarl leaders act as mediators and warlords of their respective villages. They exist to insure that the few laws Gnaarl live by are abided by, to pass judgement and to organise their followers as best they can. Of course, their most important duty is to lead their warriors into war against neighbouring planets. The boldest, most empathetic and bossiest Gnaarl are chosen to be leaders.
Gnaarl spiritualists act as healers, counselors and priests. Their role is to provide religious and psychological support for the Villager and Warrior Castes as best they can whilst also acting as advisors and confidants for the Leader Caste. In addition, Gnaarl spiritualists decide which caste each 6 month old Gnaarl fits into. The wisest, most intelligent and least aggressive Gnaarl are chosen to be spiritualists.
Gnaarl warriors act as hunters, soldiers, gladiators and criminals. They carry out most of the physical work within Gnaarl societies and are often also used as mechanical engineers due to their knack for dealing with advanced weaponry. The most aggressive, strongest and violent Gnaarl are chosen to be warriors. The Warrior Caste is always the largest caste in Gnaarl societies.
Gnaarl villagers act as gatherers, farmers, builders, chefs and civilians. Anything not covered by the other three castes are handled by them. In many ways, they are the most important facet of a working Gnaarl society. The most cooperative, obedient and sociable Gnaarl are chosen to be villagers. They are the second largest caste and the caste which contains the highest number of female Gnaarl.
Out Caste Gnaarl are usually exiled due to being criminals, murderers, defects, incompetent weaklings (comparatively), mutineers or failures. Some Gnaarl, however, purposefully break the law to get a shot at leaving Taargrund and venturing into the stars.
Though Gnaarl often keep to themselves, overpopulation occasionally prompts them to invade neighbouring planets, as was the case with Garthar, Nakk and Orcrig, three small planets in a close proximity to Taargrund. Each was savagely invaded by the Gnaarl, their inhabitants being slaughtered, imprisoned or enslaved.
The small Gnaarl-controlled planet known as Wasteworld is acts as something of a safe haven and proving grounds for travelling bounty hunters and mercenaries. Filled with some of the most dangerous and varied wildlife in the galaxy and with the Gnaarl's only controlling a small area of its surface, Wasteworld caters to these outlaws, offering some protection from intergalactic authority, weapons and armour, bounty boards, Gnaarl pit fights, a few good drinks and all the big game you could possibly hunt. Founded by wayfaring Gnaarls years ago, the Wasteworld is mostly detached from the main Gnaarl empire and, as such, all races are welcome so long as they keep to themselves, try not to kill anyone and make sure not to look the Boss-Man of Wasteworld, Skraag the Cyclops, in the false eye.
Gnaarl built weapons are eccentric to say the least. Known for being big, powerful and always excessive, Gnaarl weapons are a reflection of their violent and warmongering personalities and are usually both easy to come by and cheap, making them popular amongst criminals. However, Gnaarls are by no means technological geniuses. A downside of their guns is that they are also less technologically sound and tend to suffer from problems such as overheating, backfiring, spontaneous combustion and jamming more frequently than other weapons. Their melee based weapons, such as knives and clubs, are far more reliable.
