Zero Line

Zero line has had an interesting story so far in his life. Being born Abraham Greenbaum to a successful lawyer and an accountant he had no wants growing up. He was catered to at an early age but that's not to say he was spoiled rotten either. With the perks of old money came the pressure of being the best in every way possible. From the day he was born to the day he finally cut ties with his family Abraham's life was strictly governed by his parents and even his two older brothers.
From the get go his parents had a plan for young Abraham. He was to follow his mother in becoming a lawyer and all the prestige it would bring the family. The best tutoring, music lessons from piano to classical guitar, staunch and controlled learning environments. Though Abraham did find little ways to rebel without knowing it at ten he built a friend from an old gameboy and a toaster. His only friend was taken away and destroyed and even stricter rules were set in place, it may have been the first showing of Abraham's above average intelligence.
It would soon become apparent how bright and smart the boy could be if given the right backing. His tutors only giving him high marks in his studies. His teen years were spent alone alienated by his siblings, by now he was joined by two younger sisters. He found solace in his books philosophy, fantasy, mechanical manuals, and textbooks he read all he could just to escape for a little while. Though the only one of his siblings to try and understand her brother was Eve, she was innocent as could be and couldn't understand why he was the only one being tortured by his own family.
A bond was formed between the two by his late teens. He had started writing in his journals coming up with theories and prototypes that crossed many disciplines. When the talk of colleges was ever brought up in the household his parents spoke as if the issue never existed, he was to go to Yale. Unbeknownst to his parents Abraham had applied and had been accepted to Harvard on an academic scholarship his major was in Theoretical Sciences. When the news broke in the house he was given one hundred dollars and one suitcase his family had turned their backs on him except for Eve she had always stuck by him and they knew each others secrets like no one else.
Harvard was an exciting time and a very awkward one for Abraham. He could work on his own without the cloud of being told no at every turn. This being his first foray into actual social interaction quickly burned Abe he was branded as the awkward weirdo that no one really wanted to mess with. His professors either loved him or dreaded him with a passion, he exuded a pure innocence for his work. Some of his work was ground breaking in many areas which did give him some renown and unwanted attention.
In four years Abraham completed what would take many six or twelve years. His IQ was now apparent he had more then one degree in his pocket yet his innocent and naive way stuck out too. He was recruited by a General Abernathy into Project Infinity which Abraham thought was a think tank for top minds in America. Soon however even Abraham could tell the Facility was a black budget R&D site for the military. Which on its own Abe didn't have a problem with it was the projects in question he morally objected to and it was spelled out he didn't have a choice in the matter.
So for two more years Abraham labored under an environment where he was treated more like a necessity then a scientist. He worked on projects dealing with super serums that more often then not turned the test subjects into horrible monsters. Forced to work on doomsday weapons to ensure America couldn't be invaded or new age weapons for the battlefield. This spiraled the already fractured man into an even more awkward shell of himself. Psych tests became more and more common for him and again he failed them more than he passed them.
On his down time and when he could get away with it Abe began working on his own projects taking advantage of the state of the art lab that had become his jail cell. His main love quickly became a project dedicated to turning Earth's gravity and natural motion into free energy. The General knew of this but didn't mind it since Abe's productivity hadn't decreased. His personal projects actually began to have more success then the Facilities. Abe kept all the results of his personal projects a secret he honestly didn't know how long he could live under the threat of the Facility's ways or would they just not need him and get ride of him.
After a couple more months of horrible treatment and abuse something in his mind clicked, he resolved to escaped the Facility and continue his work on his own. The escape was actually easy in a sense he just walked out in his frazzled state with some equipment and all of his journals containing his notes. Abe made his way from the wilderness of Oregon to Millennium City his childhood home. As he tried to adjust to the new city that had changed since his family had moved away after the attack he realized he was considered a wanted man by the Department of Defense. Doctor Abraham Greenbaum was wanted for questioning pertaining his questionable practices in his work and human rights violations.
They had warped his forced experiments at the Facility to make him a wanted man. He went to ground taking his now battered equipment to some abandoned sewer lines under MC. He continued his experiments and research on as he called the Gravity Inertia Energy project as best he could. Unfortunately it came to a head one day when he tried to put his theories into practice he turned on the equipment and created a small black hole to observe its tendencies in line with his theories. The containment field couldn't hold as the black hole grew faster then his projections his life was in real jeopardy as he tried to shut down the machines and close the black hole.
He got half the machines shut down before he was caught in the pull himself and tried to cling to the machines to save from being consumed. His weak grip didn't last long as he was pulled into the black hole his only saving grace was that it didn't behave normally. Instead of maintaining the rate of consumption the black hole actually slowed his right leg was caught and as he at first tried to pull his leg free most of his skin on his right arm and hands were stripped away. Finally the safety protocols set into motion cutting off the black hole and collapsing it. By the time the black hole no longer existed Abe flopped to the floor bleeding profusely and missing his entire right leg as his right arm and hands needed immediate medical care.
Luckily for Abraham a patrol of heroes had registered the unknown energy signatures from his experiments and went to investigate. They found him minutes from death and rushed him to Mercy Hospital. As soon as his identity was verified Abraham's name was publicly dragged through the mud even more and assured his career as a scientist was over. When he was able enough Abraham checked himself out of the hospital and avoided the federal agents sent to question him, he disappeared into the city. Only a few months later a new hero emerged in MC like so many others, Zero Line.
Easiest way to describe Z's personality would be whimsical. He falls into the category with most geniuses in the fact that he can be scattered brained, distant, and just out of it from reality. He holds his friends dear to him yet doesn't let his guard down for everyone and it is hard to gain his trust. He is a guarded personality and again isn't prone to open up to outsiders quickly. It is up in the air if his whimsical personality is an act or if it is is actual way.
Tablet: His tablet wasn't built by Z but one of his best tools. A gift given by Siren but being highly modified. Z is almost never without his tablet it acts as his connection to the GDC and his Lab. Where ever he goes he still is connected to his multiple experiments and research tools. Not much is known about the tablet he uses and takes everywhere.
The Flea: this is Z's recon and two man VTOL Jet. A side project at first a combination of three old Soviet jets. Still in the prototype phase though testing have been promising with results.
Z's Lab: Currently there are five levels to Z's home away from home. The first level consists of A testing ground mainly for suits and small type devices. This is also the main area for Z's personal lab, also a lounge, emergency medical stations and some laboratories. Second level is mainly medical from operating rooms to medical laboratories the whole level is dedicated to medicine. Third level is a state of the art training facility from a custom weight room to a rock wall and a swimming pool. There are guest rooms, a few kitchens, and another lounge on this level. Also where Z's library is located housing his mostly comic collection but also his texts and research materials. Level Four is Z's main storage area along with his main research labs and experiments take place. This is is home to Z's security for his lab and is a self contained network. Level Five is still in construction and only labeled experimental.
Still rather new to being a hero Z quickly became known for helping anyone and everyone in need from a purse snatching or a plot to turn innocents into zombies. He seemed childish at all times and snarky to friend or foe a good comedy relief team member one might find out on patrol. Z's weakness when it came to melee was easily seen and he tried to keep his distance at any confrontation going to the air and using his bow to help out. His first foray into Super Groups was when he was scanning different comm frequencies and happened to tap into the GDF, just to say hello. This started at first and uneasy but great relationship with the Global Defense force and Zero Line.
At first Z was just a member within GDF often opting to stay behind and be overwatch looking after the missions from afar. Though his skills with tech was soon challenged with a death of one of the leaders and his inventions sometimes falling short of expectations he always somehow seemed to overcome most obstacles. He struck up many friendships with the current members, Powered Omega, Siren, Sergeant Major, Nebuleia and many more. One friendship provided a way to anchor him like none before. While both of them ignored the undertones of their growing friendship Nebuleia and Zero quickly formed a bond that still draws them together.
After one or two encounters with the General and even Neb's mother they finally fell to their feelings for each other. While again they seemed awkward with the relationship they did vow to stick it out no matter what happens. For awhile Zero had a time of peace and prosperity somehow climbing the ranks of the GDF he became one of the top leaders. However peace can not last a new villain Zoraoster after being brought down and arrested by the GDF returned for revenge. He ambushed the group while they were out enjoying themselves and consumed Neb's energy effectively killing her where she lay in Z's arms.
And so Zero Line delved further and darker than anytime before. He had lived through dark times but the love of his life dying in his arms he vowed revenge even if he had to break his own morals revenging her. Luckily for Z's sanity an unlikely ally appeared to help him in Nebuleia's death, her mother who before then actively pursued Neb to release her from her human form. Keeping his plans with Verlinia a secret from the rest of the group Zero started the groundwork to getting Nebuleia back. For months he toiled away waiting trying not to fall deeper in as it was a dark pit to travel down.
