It converts it creates, its very process creates a myriad of by-products. Cold, on the other hand, dose none of that. It is the absence of life, of creation, and of conversion. It is an absence of all energy of all motion. Make an object cold enough and even the basic molecules of all matter can grind to a stop. Absolute zero. Do not under estimate what cold can do. The universe might of been created in fire. But that is just a flickering flame to the cold nothingness that existed before, and will exist again, long after the flame goes out"

Early Years

Born and raised in Jerome, Arizona. Rebecca lived a typical small town American life. Living with her parents, both middle class, white collar professionals, and her younger sister Rachael. Her best attribute was that she was simply average. Not one of the popular girls, but neither an outcast. Intelligent but not considered a nerd. She fit in well with nearly everyone without falling into any clique or group.

Mutant Manifestation

Shortly after turning 14 Rebecca's life started to change. First came the physical changes. Her hair, once dark brown started to fade to white. Her tanned olive complexion and brown eyes faded as well. Becoming a near unblemished white and icy blue. It wasn't long afterwards that her internal temperature started to drop. By 15 her mutation altered her enough that cold radiating from her was severe enough to cause pain and discomfort to anyone near her. To make matters worse, her falling core temperature had yet to stabilize. It was still continuing to decline and was prone to sudden and radical drops based on Rebecca's emotional state.

Her family did their best to deal with the changes. The changes, however, simply proved to hard to ignore. As her temperature started to drop below zero basic life became a complicated mess. Simple actions like eating and bathing became chores as everything froze solid on contact. Her social life and interactions with her family declined to nothing as it was hard for anyone to be in the same room with her for any length time. These complications only served to make Rebecca even more emotionally unstable. Leading to out bursts of frustration that often resulted in accidental property damage.

The inevitable conclusion came when one extreme out burst resulted in a massive cold flash that froze half the house. Turning the structure into a brittle near crystallized frozen mess. However, the worst part was that Rebecca's younger sister was caught in the blast. She survived, but barely, with frostbite over 85% of her body. Rachael was left permanently scarred.

PRIMUS Years

The incident proved the final straw, and caught the attention of PRIMUS. It took very little convincing for Rebecca's parents to sign over all parental rights to PRIMUS. Believing that the organization was better suited to protecting Rebecca and others from her powers. Classified as potentially dangerous. Rebecca spent the next few years in a PRIMUS institution being studied, examined, classified, and monitored. The only people she had contact with where her handlers and examiners. Being kept away from the rest of the population, for their protection, until her powers had stabilized, were properly measured and documented, and she could demonstrate control over them. It was around this time, that Rebecca started to call herself Snowflake.

Subject is a fairly typical cold mutant. Her powers started to develop around 14 when her core internal temperature started to drop. The rate of decrease progressed more quickly as she aged. Stabilizing at 17 at around -450F , or just a few degrees above 0 kelvin. How she manages to continue cellular and molecular activity at such temperatures, remains a mystery.

Her own body seems to act as a very effective insulator. While she still radiates cold. Her external levels are greatly reduced. Her mere presence can lower the temperature in a small room by a few degrees. Any unprotected normal human within a few feet of her would feel uncomfortable. Direct, unprotected contact can cause frost bite. Her surface temperature fluxuates between -60f to -80f depending on external temperatures and emotional state. Its believed that these same insulating properties allow her to ignore normal outside temperatures, even a hot summer day simply isn't enough to penetrate her insulation to effect her core temp.

School Life

Rebecca, now Snowflake's, emotional state reached rock bottom shortly after turning 18. The years of isolation with PRIMUS had left her emotionally scarred and depressed. It was decided that despite the potential danger social interaction was in her best interests. She was enrolled in the Exemplar Hero Academy, a school for mutants and others with powers. After a few weeks of awkwardness Snow finally started to make friends and fit in. However, the school itself had troubles as was forced to close. The students ended up scattered, sent off to other schools. Once again Snow felt abandoned and rejected and drifted into a deep depression. She was sent off to a new school, one that specialized in hard luck cases and rejects. The X-pelled Mutant Academy. This was considered by most to be the final stop for troubled mutants. Failure here often resulted in lifetime of PRIMUS monitoring or institutions in the name of public safety.

Snow quickly discovered she wasn't alone. Bubba Joe Tolliveranother student from Exemplar Academy, and one who she developed a close friendship with, Had also been sent to X-pelled. It didn't take long for the two to rekindle the friendship and develop it into a romantic one. Snows emotional state has made things difficult and rocky but the two have managed to deepen their relationship despite the troubles.

Personality

Snowflake is normally a mess of conflicting motivations. She tries to project a happy upbeat image. But it is often overridden by depression, frustration, or guilt. She is also wracked by fear, fear of her own powers. Its this fear that has held her back the most. slowing her ability to control her powers to a stand still.
