Sarah Travers

Summary
Formerly Sarah Hunter, she hails from the UK, but has been a US citizen for two decades. She speaks with a slight British accent and a soothing voice. A witch, necromancer, and healer, her soul was divided in two by a ruler of the underworld. The halves were gathered by her former lover and returned to her lifeless body, forming a trinity within her when rejoined -- the dark (Lilith Saevio), the light (Aurora Aduro), and the shades between (Sarah Travers).
Early Life
Sarah Elle Hunter was born in England on February 14, 1983. As a young child, she was fascinated with the flow of energy in the world, claiming she can see the threads of life force connected to everyone and everything. She often spoke to entities others could not see, calling them the "Bright Ones." Her parents shrugged her behavior off as that of a child with an overactive imagination. It wasn't until age four that they paid any mind to her abilities, when her older brother Robby fell ill with a rare cancer. Witnessing her brother arrive at the brink of death moved her to "command" the illness out of his body. He was fully restored within days. While her immediate family was grateful for her gift, the rest of her relations saw fit to shun the Hunters, prompting them to move to America to begin a new life.
Ringwood, NJ became their first home in the US. Surrounded by nature, she honed her talents until her connection was such that she could conjure elements, and heal from a distance. When Detroit was rebuilt, the Hunter clan would find themselves drawn to the new city, giving Sarah an opportunity to learn from and socialize with other witches, shamans, and practitioners of mysticism. Despite all the lessons in life that came naturally to her, death was one she could never cope with. Already disturbing the natural order by keeping her brother from death, twelve years later Sarah would successfully resurrect a friend from the dead. Orcus, a deity of the underworld and punisher of oath breakers personally visited Sarah, cursing her for keeping away the souls he called to him. Her innate arcane abilities were stripped, and her gift of healing weakened severely.
The Pact
For ten years, Sarah worked to learn the things that once came naturally to her. Her fear of crossing Orcus led her to play it safe and remain in morality's lighter shades of grey, preventing her from reaching her full potential as a master of the arcane. She spent a good deal of time learning how to create and enchant weapons of all sorts, apprenticing at the Enchanted Gear store as well as The Magic Lantern Bookstore. In her spare time, she worked as a medic in the Hero Games circuit, participating in the events from time to time. Once she came of age, her family moved back east. Though she kept close contact with her brother, she began to grow distant from her family as she delved into darker arts. Once her abilities strengthened, she began to dabble in necromancy once again, summoning dark creatures and the undead. Orcus took note and began to plan accordingly.
In an attempt to summon a pact bound bale, Sarah accidentally summoned a black dragon by the name of Drake. The first couple of days of their pact were tumultuous; he defied her, often twisting and turning her words and commands against her. She offered one kind act after another, eventually winning his loyalty and love. Their link enabled Sarah to explore her darker nature without care, further angering Orcus and leaving her vulnerable to an attack by Drake's father, Jasarian, Hell Lord of the second circle. She continued the summoning of the dead and the demonic, successfully binding an Ur-Demon she called Percival to her. Drake rarely left Sarah's side, but was forced to do so when he learned of Jasarian's intentions of harming Sarah. He left Sarah in the care of the technopath Overload, returning to hell to fight his father.
The Soul Divide
Valentine's Day afternoon found Sarah missing Drake more than ever. As she was walking around the Renaissance Center, a vision of him caught her eye. She followed it to his home, watching his spectral form go corporeal. He was not himself, however, as he was defiant to her requests and generally ill tempered without provocation. She linked emphatically via an arcane connection, sharing with him memories of the love they began to sow before he left to fight his battle in hell. The memory of Drake's love revealed the visitor for who he truly was -- Jasarien.
Sarah did her best to keep him at bay, but was unsuccessful. Jasarian grabbed Sarah's bound demon, Percival, by the tail and wielded him as a weapon. Percival's numerous spines would fatally wound Sarah, who did her best to contain Jasarien as she bled to death. Percival managed to escape with Sarah, bringing her to The Magic Lantern bookstore. She left him with final instructions to find Drake, as well as her friends Rapport and Dar. Before she died, she saw Orcus standing in the shadows, smiling. He then proceeded to tear Sarah's life force in two, taking the prideful half of her soul linked to Drake to the hells with him, and leaving the half tied to her celestial gifts to find its way to the Summerlands.
Drake was victorious in his battle against his father, emerging from the hells as the Hell Lord of the second circle. When Drake he left the hells later that evening he was met by Rapport and Percival at the gates. He exploded upon learning of her death, demanding to see her body. Percival had undressed and washed the body, hiding it in an ice cave in the Canadian north and placing it within a protective circle of hellfire. Her grey eyes half opened, and a small smile on her face, Drake understood that she fought the good fight. He began to meditate, and with his new found status was able to summon Sarah's Descent, the dark aspect of her soul, from the Pride circle. As she was dragged out of hell, she took with her fractured souls and hellfire which enabled her to gather strength at a rapid rate. Not realizing this, Drake and Rapport kept Descent within the enchantment surrounding the body. Unfortunately, Descent was able to convince Percival to open the circle, allowing her to walk through the hellfire and flee. To this day, Percival refuses to disclose what it was that Descent whispered in his ear.
Drake and Rapport made their way to the gates of the Summerlands -- an area where Rapport was denied passage due to the fact that she and her mistress (the Avatar of Balance) have lost the connection with Order. Drake summoned his friend War Wolf to accompany him, pulling him through a dimensional hole. Ascent, having been escorted to the Summerlands by another unnamed celestial, was made whole when she arrived, using a fraction of Sarah to in order to complete herself as an entity. She also managed to create her own version of heaven -- a scenic lake surrounded by rolling hills, where she and the waters could sing to one another. Drake did his best to convince her to abandon her paradise and euphoria. When words failed, he simply left, hoping she would follow. A being of pure love, Ascent still housed all that she felt for Drake. She turned her back on Paradise, following him through the gates weeping as she mourned what she would later describe as a second death. Upon returning to the cave, they learn of Percival's carelessness. However, they returned Ascent to the vessel without issue. Always compliant, she entered the body, healing all wounds and breathing life back into it. However, without the other half, Sarah was merely comatose. Not much time remained before Ascent would be bound to the body alone, leaving Sarah imbalanced. Drake tracked Descent down and fought her to the point of exhaustion, commanding her back to the body, forming Redemption, and reviving the Vessel.
The Formation of Dialogue
Descent (the Dark aspect), Redemption (the Shades Between and mediator of the Vessel), and Ascent (the Light aspect) were formed, and the pieces were now set for the reaching of balance. The aspects each took a new name having been reborn. Redemption remained Sarah and continues to govern the Vessel -- the body the three share. She eventually would take the surname Travers to commemorate her crossing over. Descent took the name Lilith, choosing Saevio as her surname in honor of Drake. Ascent took the name Aurora, with the surname Aduro for her love of Drake. The three formed a pact in which they would allow whomever is called forth to govern the Vessel physically. For example, if Sarah was in control of the Vessel and someone asked to speak to Lilith, Lilith would be allowed to push forward on Sarah's time. Otherwise, Aurora was given the morning hours, Sarah the afternoon, and Lilith the evening.
Sarah Travers
Having crossed over, Sarah chose the name Travers as her surname, her friends Drake, Rapport, and Iron Warden being all that remained from her former life. Many who knew her before the soul divide believe her to be dead, among them her friends Dar and Overload. She returned from death as living, but feeling very much inhuman. Her understanding of life, death, and the states between the two changed her a great deal, leaving her rather stoic. Despite this, she does have the capacity to celebrate life and make connections with others. Her knowledge of the esoteric has strengthened, allowing new abilities to slowly emerge. Often tired due to lack of sleep, She sometimes speaks incoherently, causing people to believe she's mentally and emotionally compromised. Sarah still works as an enchanted weaponsmith and a healer.
Sarah stands at 5' 8", with black hair, grey eyes, and a rosy beige skin tone. Her aura is a bright purple, and she smells of lavender and vanilla. She is represented by the color purple, and a purple dragon gripping a Tudor rose.
Aurora Aduro
The celestial gift that formed its own consciousness in the Summerlands took the name of Aurora Aduro. Incredibly kind, innocent, affectionate and loving, she is unaware of how truly powerful she is. Aurora has the ability to create an army of herself, as giving shards of herself away does not necessarily compromise her essence. Her energy can be likened to a river -- constantly moving, with a permanent source so that taking from it does not necessarily deplete it for long. She became somewhat aware of her capabilities and began to grow willful, pushing forth when she pleased. In doing so, she met The Patronizer. The two were unable to consummate their love due to the fact that she was to remain incorruptible. Her corruption (i.e. the loss of her virginity) would mean imbalance within the Vessel, and the "death" of Aurora. Eventually, Sarah was able to convince Aurora to form a shard of herself, imbuing it with her love of Pat along with her willful behavior. Sarah passed the shard along in a kiss, breathing Aurora's life into him. Pat had a body fashioned for the shard, by Amentia Dei. Thus, bringing forth Aurora Denuo (Earthbound).
Child-like in nature, Aurora is easily described as fair, light, and sweet. She has never said a mean word or done an unkind thing save briefly want to live her own life. She has an unusual obsession with citrus fruits, especially the juices of oranges and tangerines. Aurora speaks Celestial, often singing a morning prayer in the tongue. Only two beings have witnessed this. Both were moved to tears. She sees energies in all things, and enjoys singing with them. Water seems to hold her favorite melodies.
Aurora within the Vessel stands at 5' 8", with lilac-streaked white hair, solid white eyes, and fair skin. Her aura is gold, holding a Celestial song that can only be heard by other heavenly beings, and those she chooses to share it with. She smells of citrus fruits, and is represented by the celestial halo, and the colors gold and lilac.
Lilith Saevio
The demonic being with a draconic trace decided on the name Lilith Saevio. Formed by half of Sarah, a shard of Drake, and a collection of splintered souls from the hells, she is a prideful, vain, and incredibly powerful being. Her being can be likened to a patchwork quilt; each piece is unique and an integral part of who and what she is. Take away that piece, and Lilith ceases to be herself. Often misunderstood, she has been accused of being evil when in fact she is merely dark, Sarah's half keeping this in check a great deal. Not much is known about Lilith currently, as she is incredibly secretive. She has revealed her true name to one other being, and will not disclose who said person is.
Within the Vessel, Lilith stands at 5' 8", with wine-streaked black hair, solid black eyes, and an ashen ivory skin tone. Her aura is a reddish-purple, and she smells burning firewood and cinnamon. She is represented by the colors bordeaux and black, and the spiral path.
The Dialogue
The term used for Sarah's ability to maintain order within the Vessel and unify herself with the aspects, the Dialogue will occur when she is able to become the three at once. This has yet to happen, as Lilith refuses to give up her own true will for the sake of the Vessel's. Lilith's deep envy for Aurora's ability to purge her true will and pass it along to Aurora Denuo, along with her growing affection for Sarah's beloved Enoch, have pushed her into a rebellious state. Often retreating deep within the psyche of the Vessel, she continues to seek a way to live her own life.
Powers & Abilities
- Celestial Energies: The ability to directly connect with and conduct healing light is an ability Spellfire was born with. This allows her to close wounds, heal scars, link empathically, and bring people back from the brink of death.
- Dark Magic: Spellfire's darker abilities include the summoning of various demons, raising the dead, and the employment of shadows to do her bidding.
- Hellfire: The use and control of hellfire is designated specifically to Lilith, as she is the only one who can do so without harming the Vessel or others.
- Blood Magic: Spellfire returned from the dead with this ability, and is currently trying to grasp a better understanding of it.
- Elemental Magic: Spellfire is able to conjure the elements of fire and wind, often using them to travel at the speed of a thought.
- Glamour: Spellfire has been known to disguise herself using magic.
- Telekinesis: Spellfire is able to move reasonably weighted things (i.e. things she can lift with both hands) with her mind. She does not employ this ability often, as it tends to mislead people to believe she is a psion.
Weaknesses
As Sarah, the Vessel is mortal. However, the aspects give the Vessel a great deal of strength and resistance, making her difficult to harm.
Family & Friends
Dead to most of the world, her family and a good deal of her friends are unaware of her situation. Sarah has very few friends and mostly spends her time with her beloved, Enoch. The friends she does have she treasures a great deal.
- Va'Dar'Khaj: Her once human, cat-like friend and protector, Dar was the first friend Sarah had made in a long time. He befriended Sarah Hunter in Club Caprice, often seeking healing, comfort, and companionship from her. She held him in a high place in her former life. Currently, he does not know she has returned from the dead.
- Rapport: Messenger of the Avatar of Balance, Rapport takes a special interest in the microcosm that is Spellfire, occasionally bringing news and advice to her, or merely dropping into to observe the Vessel's progress in reaching Dialogue status.
- Drake: Her former friend and lover, Drake was bound to Sarah Hunter via pact. Their relationship was tumultuous and heavily passionate. When Sarah Hunter was divided, it was Drake who fetched each piece and reunited them with the Vessel. Though he got along well enough with Saran and Aurora, Lilith was too much of a mirror for him. He used this excuse to allegedly cheat on then dump Spellfire and reunite with his former lover, Candie. Despite the break, Sarah remains civil towards Drake. Lilith still houses respect for Drake's draconic aspect, while Aurora refuses to have anything to do with Drake whatsoever.
- War Wolf: An associate of Drake's she became acquainted with after her return.
- Overload: The technopath served as her guardian briefly, but quickly became someone she held dear. Often sharing philosophical and uncomfortable discussion, she became something of a mentor in manners of human emotions and socializing. He is still unaware of her return, as Sarah fears that he wouldn't understand the situation and would rather not cause him any undue stress. She misses her friend a great deal.
- Iron Warden: An associate of Sarah's and Overload's.
- Khaziael: A telekinetic telepathic mage, Sarah's relationship with him could be described as a friendly acquaintance at best. However, he and Lilith shared an attraction, leading to an evening of passion. Khaziael is quite fond of Aurora, taking a protective role when interacting with her. He and Spellfire remain good friends and associates.
- The Patronizer: God of madness and all around wacky guy, Pat is as random and fun-loving as they come. He met Aurora after she had a particularly bad day. Feeling the need to bring some sort of pleasantry, she kissed Pat on the forehead. Aurora secretly began a relationship with Pat without consulting Lilith or Sarah, both of them opposed to the idea of Pat as the Vessel's consort. Sarah and Aurora eventually worked together to pass along a shard of herself containing her love for Patronizer, along with the willfulness that could possibly destroy the Vessel's state of balance.
- Michael Phillips: The two met when Sarah literally dropped from up above in Club Caprice. Sarah's politeness kept her from pursuing anything further than friendship despite her attraction to him.
- Enoch: A mercenary with serious insomnia, Aurora attempted to bring him a bit of bliss through healing. He eventually met Sarah, and the two hit it off instantly. Enoch loves and reveres Sarah, and she loves and adores him. The two are inseparable and dedicated to one another. He is the first person the Sarah and the aspects can agree on as a consort for the Vessel.
Enemies
- Orcus: A mad lord of the underworld, he is obsessed with Spellfire and her ability to keep away the souls he calls to him.
