Thessaly 'Rough Sally' Devereaux is a former professional henchwoman, having worked for a great many megalomaniacs, masterminds, and miscellaneous miscreants over the course of her career. Recent events have caused authorities to consider her for possible rehabilitation, under the supervision of the East Briar Institute.
History
Rough Start
Thessaly was born to a young professional couple living in the Detroit area, and had a pleasant and uneventful childhood until just shy of her 5th birthday. That was in 1992, and Doctor Destroyer had other plans for the city. While Thessaly was off at her pre-school, her family home was obliterated by the sweep of the villain's deadly orbital cannon across town. The bodies of her parents and baby sister were never found. Left without family, she was sent into the city's foster care system, which was already overworked in the aftermath of the disaster. From there, things went from bad to worse. Frequently bullied and abused, things only began to change as her metahuman abilities began to awaken. When she became angry, she would become stronger and tougher. Local youth gangs began to take note of her talents, and she quickly rose to prominence among them. An early misunderstanding about her name led to her being known as 'The Sally', a monicker she found amusing and embraced.
Rise to Power
It was a short step from there to what would become her ongoing career. One of the Westside criminal syndicates was recruiting muscle to stir up trouble and draw the police away from the site of a major heist. Rough Sally, as she had come to be known by then, performed this task with distinction.. and GUSTO. Soon, villains from near and far were wanting her services, whether as bodyguard, enforcer, or agent of chaos.
Love and Bullets
It was around this time that Sally met Johnny Mayhem. The heavy-metal rocker's career was in a downward spiral, and he had decided to both vent his rage and supplement his income with a crime spree. The two hit it off like a house on fire, with appropriate destructive effect. Their whirlwind romance left a trail of destruction and chaos in cities across the nation. Unfortunately, Johnny's greater ambitions soon began to sour the relationship. Having no innate metahuman powers, he began to dabble in cybernetic augmentation. It became an addiction for him, and Sally didn't care much for the 'new and improved' Johnny. When she found him in a compromising position with a major appliance, it was the last straw and she broke it off. Fortunately for Johnny he was so mechanical by that point that he was able to reattach it himself with regular household tools. They went their separate ways, and Johnny went on to a villainous career under the name 'Deathmetal'.
