Appearance

Dr. Debrah Meyers is the secret identity of Molten Edge. She stands 5'10" tall with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. Her physique is soft and curvy, though as Molten Edge it is very muscular and toned. She tends to dress on the conservative side, but her outfits do sometimes have low necklines or show some leg, hinting that she may harbor a hidden desire to be bolder.

Background and Personality

Debrah's early childhood played a great role in how she turned out as an adult; she was brainy, but introverted. She drew more enjoyment from using her imagination and playing in her own company than pursuing frivolous friendships with other children. Due to teasing she endured throughout elementary school she did poorly in academics until she got her feet under herself around the time she got into middle school when she developed a somewhat thicker skin. In addition to having a hard time with her peers, her family life grew more unstable as time went on. She always expressed interest in culture and social interaction, but by the time she was a little older, she began to felt it was safer to read about and observe society rather than actively participate in it.

During her adolescent years, Debrah didn't rebel except in relatively quiet ways. She often refused to follow the crowd since 'the crowd' was more often than not composed of the same people who had teased and rejected her when she was younger. She sought out her own entertainment that was usually engaging to the mind, such as reading, watching movies and stage performances, and learning about old cultures and language. She wasn't typically involved in extracurricular activities, but was often encouraged by teachers to take up leadership positions such as being a school crossing patrol or conflict resolution manager. Being of a more withdrawn nature, however, she shied away from positions that might put her in the spotlight.

After graduating high school with honors, Debrah enrolled in college with the help of federal financial aid. While it put her into debt, it placed her among people with similar interests and temperaments where she was now largely free of the persecution of her peers, and she finally began to flourish. After completing her Bachelor’s degree, she was able to secure an Oxford scholarship where she earned her doctorate in anthropology. She enjoyed experiencing European culture during these later academic years and was more socially active than she had been back in the States, making many networking connections. Debrah also managed to get a semester-long global studies internship through Arcadia University in Toledo, Spain, and a history/anthropology summer internship in London, England thanks to a World Internship program. During this time she did date a couple of men while in Europe, but although they were fairly stable relationships they eventually turned out to just be passing fancies that didn't seem to match up with what she was looking for in a man.

Given all of the above, Debrah didn't open up much socially until her early adult years, thanks to being away from the influences of family and unfavorable experiences in the American public school system. As such, she's a little wary of people at first and can sometimes be slow to warm up to them until she feels she can trust them. Once her trust is earned, however, she is a fiercely loyal friend. She greatly desires to be more self-confident and outgoing, but her own self-doubts and cautious nature hold her back most of the time.

Heroic Origins

Dr. Debrah Meyers was performing field research into an ancient culture in Indonesia, managing to arrange for a tour of a sacrificial volcano temple just off the coast. While inside, she wandered away from her crew to inspect some carvings and got lost. Finding herself in a chamber with a magma lake, a cloud of the sacrificed spirits spoke to her and deemed her worthy of wielding the sword that was once used to ceremonially bleed them before offering their bodies to the volcano. The spirits want justice brought to those that take advantage of the weak for their own gain. The sword is imbued with the souls of those that were sacrificed and, having mystical and spiritual ties to the volcano which claimed their lives, they can impart the power and strength of the volcanic earth to the appropriate wielder, namely Debrah. This grants her great super strength, durability, and endurance while also allowing her to call upon a sort of volcanic kinesis which can cause and control things like fissures, eruptions, earth tremors, and fire bolts.

When she first acquired the sword, she approached Dr. Seth McIlroy in an attempt to find out a little more about what it meant to have it bestowed upon her. When it seemed she was destined to become a superhero, he introduced her to Eldritch, Larwryn Solace, and Sun Lao Hu where they kicked off her heroic training. Before long she was recruited as a founding member of F.O.R.W.A.R.D. and works to build up her self-confidence and skill with the sword as she trains under her new friends and fellow teammates. As part of her new superheroic career, she has registered her secret identity with ASPRA.

Family and Personal Relations

Debrah Meyers is the youngest daughter of Annette and Hank Meyers. Despite having a relatively happy early childhood, family stability fell apart before she had turned ten years old. Her parents have been separated for years, though they've never officially divorced. Debrah does have an older sister, Samantha Meyers, but she is considerably more immature and less reliable than Debrah, and generally considered to be an irresponsible party-girl. As such, Samantha and Debrah are rather estranged from each other, living at opposite ends of the country last Debrah knew.

Since returning to Millennium City from Indonesia she has made fast friends with Eldritch and Larwryn "Wryn" Solace, and has made the acquaintances of Seth McIlroy, Gigi Smith, Gregory Bishop, Thundrax, Sun Lao Hu, Alex Henderson, Boun Takashita, and Red. Somewhat recently she has become romantically involved with Boun Takashita.
