Moloch
Moloch is a demon of the ancient world, a fallen angel who was once worshipped as a deity in some ancient cultures. A key component of the ancient worship of Moloch was human sacrifice through fire.
History
As a demon, Moloch's sole aim is to lead humans to their own destruction. In ancient days, Moloch attempted to do this indirectly, by getting men to worship him and commit fell acts of human sacrifice. Moloch has an affinity for fire, and thus did his worship require men to "pass their children through the fire" in sacrifice to stay his anger and wrath.
As human civilizations moved away from cult worship through the centuries, Moloch was, for a time, content to be worshipped in small, fringe groups. It gnawed at his pride, however, that he could no longer sway entire peoples into their own destruction.
Goals
Moloch has resurfaced in the present day with a new strategy: to create destruction and fear, and then, when all are cowed beneath his cloven hoof, he will demand both honor and sacrifice. Thus, he has taken a far more active role in his own plots, foregoing subtlety and persuasion in favor of fiery assaults and armies of lesser demons.
