Loup Garou
Caveat - I shall make my background as I please. You are free to ignore my character otherwise; the game is certainly big enough for all!
Loup Garou - French for "Werewolf" - is a former "Death Match" fighter from an alternative universe (CoX) who, due to the onset of his mutated appearance and personality change, has found himself strugging with his temper and canid mentality in order to follow the concept of the Hero. He tends to border on the "vigilante" style, having a hunter's mind.
Personality
Jean-Luc has come a long way from his rather rough past history; due to his growing up as a prize fighter in the rings, he has a rather dark view of "reasonable force", though it could be argued he thinks just like any other inner city person - namely, survival before all. He is terse, not afraid to speak his mind, and can be rather quiet or downright mistrustful around people he doesn't know, however he is exceedingly loyal to his friends and can be a very charming host to new guests in his club, the Zydeco.
While Jean-Luc has a hunter's instincts and mindset, he's a contradiction; he feels no guilt or remorse for his life in the rings, though he does wear the responsibility of so many deaths upon his shoulders and accepts that as part of his past. However, he has no tolerance whatsoever for the assassin or hitman, or anyone who kills merely for the thrill of it. Although he sees opponents as "prey" in his hunter's mind, and Millenium City as his hunting ground, he doesn't revel in suffering. He enjoys the hunt - one of the few things which he really does enjoy - but he doesn't make his quarry suffer. It could be said Jean-Luc is caught between two opposing poles of himself, and is just trying to figure out where the balancing centre might be.
As Jean-Luc is now considered a hero "vet" of Millenium, he tends to get considerably frustrated with the younger, up and coming heroes. To him, being a hero isn't about trying to get your picture in the paper or having a flashy outfit; it's about getting bloody, dirty, and protecting people as well as following up on the "big bust of the day" and doing simple community work. Regardless of whether he's aware of it or not, he actually is very much a hero in the humanitarian sense of the word.
Jean-Luc tends to speak a mixture of English and Louisiana Creole, or "Kreyol"[1]. It is a phonetic form of French and therefore the accent is quite different from mainland French. The accent is therefore written phonetically ingame to help people "hear" his voice.
History
Jean Luc has a very extensive history due to being originally from a parallel universe[2]. However due to taking a "suicide mission" for the Ouroboros/Mender group, he ended up in Millenium City just as the Qalaar were attacking the city and was instrumental in their defeat. Thrust in the centre of the crisis, he found himself bustled off without preamble into Canada, and from there formed the Pack after attempting to come to grips with a world like and yet completely unlike his own.
Motivation
Jean's motivation has certainly changed as he matures; originally a very do-it-yourself type of person, Jean is now Alpha of the Pack, and finds himself having to take care of a whole group of people who look up to him to have the answers and to lead. Hardly leadership material, he has to grow up fast and often stretches himself just that bit too thin to keep everyone safe. Similar to days in the Isles, Jean has become aware of the presence of the Institute for Human Advancement IHA and has therefore found himself fighting for the acceptance of feral beings in the city - and also attempting to keep them from being wiped out.
Primary Powers
Heightened hearing, smell and senses - he can see in the dark and scents are like "colours" in his head Rapidly accelerated healing - this is VERY quick, but he does not regenerate limbs, his healing can be knocked out by severe trauma Razor sharp claws - these could cut through Rikti metal Heightened strength - he can lift a car and throw it and knock people across a room, but he is still on the lower end of superstrength. Heightened dexterity and reflexes - a human with a knife might have trouble being able to attack him, but he can't dodge bullets or lasers
Additional
Warsuit: due to a very nasty allergic reaction to Rikti gas, a armour suit was created with ventilator systems and shift inhibitors through the Vanguard teams in the Rikti warzones for Jean to wear. This is very light armour which collapses into a box no bigger than a pack of cards when not in use. Protective against blasts and trauma, the suit however is not indestructible. He brought this warsuit with him when travelling throuhg the Rift and has had it adapted for the weakening gas Argent tends to use.
Jean is currently wearing on his left index finger a ring purported to be one of four rings distributed through Wolven Society - two are lost, one worn by a madman, and one sent to Jean - Jean wears the Ring of the Moon, which is very old gold with a moonstone set in the centre. The powers change with the Alpha who wears it, and in Jean he is able to tap into considerable paranormal "gris-gris" which he never had access to before. It is still a learning process for him to use it; it doesn't make him godly and if anything he's probably now on par with other Alphas of a more supernatural bent, but his already inherent strength and fighter dexterity makes him a considerable force now.
