Kyse Drayson
Element of the Guardian of the Watchtower to the East, we call to thee…
No one can tell me,
Nobody knows,
Where the wind comes from,
Where the wind goes. ~AA Milne
Voiceless it cries,
Wingless flutters,
Toothless bites,
Mouthless mutters. ~JRR Tolkien
O you that are so strong and cold,
O blower, are you young or old?
Are you a beast of field and tree,
Or just a stronger child than me? ~R.L Stevenson
Wild Spirit, which art moving everywhere;
Destroyer and Preserver; hear, O hear! ~Percy Shelley
‘Cause I don’t know, I don’t know where I am
Can you tell me, will I break or will I bend?
Will the wind ever come again? ~The Fray
The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind
The answer is blowin’ in the wind ~ Dylan
Air… Wind… Sought by the poet. The raw power of youth and freedom. A flowing spirit of frivolity and unbound energy.
The magical element of Air has no form to speak of. One cannot see the wind. One can only see the effects of the wind. Harnessed for leisure and recreation… Singing a soft song in the treetops… Carrying the birds of the sky… Whipping the golden hair of a young girl… Destroying the eastern coastlines… Pulling seeds from the ground to light elsewhere to bear life… Drawing mists from the oceans to moisten abandoned docks…
But what happens when the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, through ancient and forbidden magic, gives form to the formless and creates a living flesh from bound elemental energy?
This is the story of Kyse Drayson…
Four elemental arks were created early in the history of mankind. An order of priests has safeguarded these arcs, each with distinctive powers relative to their assigned element (earth, air, fire, water). Centuries prior, the arks were separated to distant lands in order to protect them. However, a ritual cult, seeking to usurp the power of the elements for themselves, began tracking them down one by one. The Priest known as 'Drayson', during an attack on his stronghold in the Black Hills of South Dakota, became overwhelmed by a cadre of cultists. In a last ditch effort to preserve the power of the ark, he inadvertently gave it form and life. Thus Kyse was 'born.' Immediately bonded to his creator, Kyse defended the Priest from the cultists and drove them back. The two then escaped into the world and thus began their tale.

Kyse's Journal - (Old information... Retconned...)
He suffers from a profound sense of disconnectedness. Unsure whether this is just a product of his strange nature or whether it can be overcome he tends to shy away from the prospect of finding out. He wants to connect to others, but fears it as well for a whole range of reasons. Often he'll take the first step in initiating some type of contact or deepening of understanding, but immediately back off if he feels slightly vulnerable or threatened.
For such strange beginnings Kyse is a relatively normal teenager. He can be profoundly serious one moment and goofy and childlike the next, without much preamble or transition between the two. In moments of quiet introspection, he wonders who and what he is, where he comes from, and where he is going. But he can leave most of his existential crises in those moments once he gets distracted by something else.
Kyse is a slight, but well built young man that appears like any other average mid-teen boy. He is fair of skin and quick to smile. He's generally wearing a hat or hood at all times to keep his wild hair under control. He doesn't really have a 'style' per se, but wears anything clean and close at hand. In fact, if he could he would go without clothing as he finds them binding. Very often he'll ditch his shoes if given half the chance. His discomfort in clothes is often marked by a continuous tugging at his sleeves and shirt tail. The only remarkable thing about his appearance is that after extended manipulation of the elements his eyes begin glowing bright blue upon blue. This effect fades as he relinquishes control of his powers.
- Mystical characters would sense a strong core of distracting elemental energy when near Kyse. Nothing dangerous or detrimental to function...just a nagging that there is a mystical draft in the room.
- Psychics would have an easy read of this character as he hasn't learned the necessity of any boundaries.
- Being a new creation with limited experience in a body, Kyse is a blank slate romantically. Not that he doesn't have attractions, he just won't know what to do with them.
- Kyse is obsessed with trying new foods.
- Kyse will be looking for magic or imbued armor to be created for him at some point in the future. Any magicians up for the job or who have such a skill-set and wanna RP hit me up in game.
- Mystical characters may have some insight into Kyse's origin that he himself may not understand. The Metaphysics (as they appear in the wonderland that is my head) work like this: The shed blood of the Order who sacrificed their lives intermingled with the blood of Drayson on the ark during the assault on the stronghold. The magic summoned by Drayson with the intention of freeing the air energy from the ark in conjunction with his invocation of old gods from the four corners of the Earth created a mystical alignment the ignited the spark of life that became Kyse. In short, a conglomeration of ritual summoning, spiritual invocation, & blood magic utilizing the elemental core in the ark as a matrix made the boy.
