But in the darkness of the night, and to those superheroes who know his identity, he is Dr. Madman; one of the evillest and most ambitious villains in the United States, secretly building an army of undead cyborgs to one day take over the world.

History
In 1966, Dr. Reuben Bauer's wife died of cancer. He became so obsessed with finding a way to bring her back to life, he nearly died of exhaustion. Surrounded by strewn laboratory equipment and drenched in sweat in the summer of 1968, he had an epiphany.
Dr. Bauer devoted the next decades of his life to disease prevention and prosthesis research. He became a famous medical doctor, and, under the table, a source of BUFF, or Bauer's Ultimate Fortitude Formula, for government experiments. When he was 54 years old, his great scheme was enacted, and he opened an underground laboratory to continue his study of unlife. He combined all the knowledge he had gathered and, with the help of a few very well-paid scientists, began creating an army of undead, cybernetically and chemically enhanced supersoldiers.
