The Mastermind

"Humanity is doomed to extinction unless they discover the error of their ways and reverse the damage we've done. Unfortunately, I have come to a conclusion that it is beyond the realm of possibility. Fortunately, I have found a cure for this metaphorical cancer."

Dr. Saito Okita (サイト オキタ) was wealthy billionaire who was the CEO of Okita Technologies. He specializes in advanced weaponry, genetics, and considers himself to be a pioneer in the development and harnessing of antimatter. He vanished after bankruptcy of Okita Technologies years ago, and had been working underground until he was discovered by The Liberators . Now he is hell-bent and desperate to protect his remaining assets until the completion of his "master plan".

After his reappearance and the revelation that he was hidden away and attempting to mass produce and possibly weaponize antimatter, he became wanted by both UNTIL and PRIMUS. He was stopped by the Liberators and their allies before he could cause any damage to Earth.

Okita Technologies

Okita Technologies was a secretive corporation that specialized in genetics, robotics, and computer science. It was owned by the billionaire Doctor Saito Okita, who was once a famous scientist, considering himself a pioneer in the fields that the company specialized in.

The company was soon approached by the government in the aftermath of the attempted Qulaar invasion as a potential candidate company to start a super-solider program and to create automated law enforcement units that would respond swiftly to crime and process criminals quickly and efficiently. However, with the disastrous failure of both the super-soldier program and the ASMV-series law enforcement drones, funding was immediately cut and the company soon entered decline, eventually going bankrupt a few years later with the disappearance of Dr. Okita.

The company is responsible for the manifestation of the hero known as Swift and both of the drones ASMV-155AC and ASMV-HA873R.

Prelude I: Failed Vision

Dr. Saito Okita, with his intellect and massive wealth, had a dream to create a company that would become a rival to Harmon Industries. His dream was that Okita Technologies would eventually become a household name, with almost every American citizen possessing a device from his company. He also wanted to do good by reversing the devastating procedures that Dr. Moreau and other nefarious scientists like him performed, and restoring humanity to those who have had it taken away from them. He also started work on trying to develop artificially intelligent computers that would be capable of adapting and learning. Okita Industries would rake in heavy press coverage, and Okita would take his place among the world's most famous scientists and pioneers of technology.

he never did. While the company was profitable and did make headlines now every so often, it couldn't exactly compete with the bigger industries that practically had a monopoly on the fields that they specialized in. He tried to get a contract with the government to develop power armor for its troops, but it fell through in favor of another company. He also attempted to start a business specializing in returning manimals to their original human state, but that department did not receive enough activity and soon was closed down. He also tried selling robotics and computer hardware to super-teams, and managed to make a somewhat profitable business out of that.

But there wasn't enough income coming in to properly expand the company, and Okita was losing money quickly each day. Thus, Okita decided that this dream, his dream of being one of the most famous scientists in the world, was hopeless.

Prelude II: Shady Dealings

Okita Technologies soon lost the efforts to remain in the limelight, and for a time it sunk out of the public eye. However, this was suiting for Okita's next move.

The CEO began conducting underground negotiations with criminals, selling either prototype or illegal hardware to criminals who happened to pay enough money. Meanwhile, the company put up a false facade in order to convince the public they were still a legitimate corporation, much similar to how ARGENT and Mind.Inc had done. This continued on for quite some time. Okita also began hiring mercenaries and hitmen to quiet down people who dared to uncover the truth, effectively separating the two sides of the business.

This went on for several years until the Qulaar invasion took place. The attack was repelled but devastated the city and the police force, and in response the state of Michigan began combing through the list of companies and research facilities that could augment the existing police department. Okita Technologies was on the list, and their research into genetic modification and robotics impressed the officials, earning them a contract. Dr. Okita seized this opportunity to try and rise to fame. Two programs were implemented, one focused on designing battle mechs for the police force, and another focused on augmenting officers genetically to become super-soldiers. Okita and the inner circle also secretly wanted to restart the manimal experiments, taking a handful of the super-soldier candidates to work with while the others were injected with the "normal" augmentation serum. The inner circle voted on using foxes as the manimal template, and hired hitmen to extract DNA from an existing manimal by the name of Felix Gamble .

One of said prototypes just before it went bezerk.

The battle mechs seemed to work perfectly at first. Their AI learned quickly and responded efficiently, and the well built chassis of the robots performed well under stress and the firepower of the robots was formidable. However, disaster struck one day when one of the units suddenly disobeyed orders, continuing to destroy the mooks it was supposed to apprehend instead of following the order to return to base. It was then realized that these AIs had become intelligent enough to question orders. Okita technicians tried to stop the problem by "dumbing down" the mechs, but one of them figured out what they were attempting to do and rebelled.

The super-soldier program did not fare well either. The chemicals and the gene therapy used to augment the human test subjects backfired, causing rapid spreading cancer that quickly consumed their bodies. All of them died. The six manimal test subjects' DNA mutations however were successful. Okita however decided that they had made a mistake creating them, and ordered the euthanization of all six manimals. The procedure was performed, but two of the manimals were smuggled out by sympathetic employees.

Funding was cut immediately. The contracts for the supersoldier serums went to another company, and to add insult to injury, the police mech contract was returned to Harmon industries. Okita technologies soon became bankrupt.

Part I: Underground

Devastated by his company's collapse, Okita and his inner circle suddenly vanished from society itself. Okita Technologies sold off its remaining assets, and the prototype technology that they did have, they destroyed in order to prevent anyone else from being able to own or replicate it. Okita Technologies slowly became a forgotten name. Okita at this point became enraged. He decided that humanity was no longer worthy of the technologies and innovations he had to offer, and developed a philosophy that mankind was doomed to extinction. He then set out on doing what was previously thought unthinkable: the mass development of antimatter.

Antimatter, for those who don't know, is highly unstable and consists of otherwise ordinary matter that has a reversed electrical charge. When it reacts with normal matter, devastating amounts of energy are released. Any antimatter will annihilate normal matter, so containment units must be equipped with electromagnetic fields to prevent the antimatter from destroying it.

Okita has found a way to perfect the mass manufacturing of these particles.

The Liberators became involved when Okita sent one of the drone prototypes, ASMV-HA873R to terminate the leader, known as Swift . The mech was supposed to then recover Swift's prototype gear, which had been stolen previously from Okita's labs. The robot was thwarted, however, and the Liberators team became intent on tracking it down. Their efforts eventually led to the team finding the robot's base on Monster Island, which contained what appeared to be a death ray. However, after battling the robot for an hour and defeating it, the team accidentally stumbled upon a massive containment silo full of antimatter, inside a rocket waiting to be launched. However, it was clear that it was not a missile, but rather a transport ship meant to ship the antimatter somewhere. The death ray was found to be a particle accelerator. And lastly, mentions of Okita awaiting a delivery were uncovered.

Bad move.

Okita was notified that the delivery failed, and that the Liberators had found out his secret. He immediately ordered attempts on the lives of every member, and nothing new, he decided to send his trademark hitmen after them. They were effective, critically injuring two members, killing one. Numerous attacks were attempted, but the team managed to fend them off. They were no longer safe.

Captain Swift ordered the team to move into an emergency location known as The Bunker. The ones that showed up were accounted for, and considering the grave situation, the worst was assumed for those who didn't report in. For now, all the team can do is to rearm themselves, make alliances, and prepare for the storm.

Part II: Building the Ark

Okita's men at work on construction of the ark ship.
With time it would be revealed how far Okita's arrogance and insanity stretched. With the fact that the Liberators and other groups were increasingly aware of his actions, Okita told his men to redouble their efforts and to move the massive project into a new phase. Soon enough, newspapers around the world began to report repeat strange occurrences where many cities around the globe were raided, massive industrial equipment such as power generators, construction equipment, nuclear material and other technologies were stolen. The newspaper also reported massive thefts of DNA and genetic material from both the Svalbard Global Seed Vault and other DNA banks. Finally, raw material such as steel, titanium, questionite and various other alloys were seized as well.

antimatter, genetic records of almost all of Earth's recorded species, industrial equipment, and the latest research into power generation, stasis and propulsion technology pointed to an insane possibility:

Okita was building the Ark in order to escape to a new world. He would destroy Earth, believing its inhabitants to be decadent and a cancer.

The Liberators scrambled into action, working hard alongside UNTIL and allied forces to discover if this Ark actually existed, and if so, its location, for fear that Okita intended to leave nothing but smoldering wreckage behind when he fully left the Earth. Having failed to detect the Ark in Earth's orbit, on the Moon or anywhere in the system using UNTIL's satellites and other means, a satellite was launched in order to try and find evidence of any sort of cloaking device that would've shielded the construction site.

The Liberators long range radar satellite was destroyed in a collision with an unknown object, though its last transmission revealed what appeared to be their worst fears confirmed: Okita's ark, which threatened the safety of life on Earth. The team sprang into action to quickly develop a way to find a way to penetrate the ark's defenses and to commandeer it.

Part II: Downfall

The Liberators devised a plan to utilize a railgun in a way that took a page out of Ironclad's book. The team would be strapped inside large steel canisters that resembled bullets, which then would be subsequently shot at the Ark's coordinates. With the help of Trixxy Gamble and members of the Cerberus Tactical Solutions, two strike teams were formed in order to take down the ship.

After the boarding shells slammed into the hull of the Ark, gunfire erupted across the ship in a struggle to stop Okita from initiating the launch sequence. Okita, in desperation attempted to stop them by venting compartments into space, disrupting the artificial gravity, and sending his drones after them. However the teams were able to disable the reactors which powered engines, effectively stopping the ship from moving.

The two teams converged and mounted a final assault on the control center of the ship. They were about to subdue Okita and his inner circle, but was stopped when Okita's henchmen had taken one of them hostage. Okita was revealed to be dying from terminal brain cancer, and confronted the Liberators, explaining his true intentions. However, with the brief lull in the enemy's alertness, the hostage managed to overpower his captor and gunfire resumed, until all of the henchmen in the control center were incapacitated.

The team captured Okita, but it was revealed that he would not survive the trip back to Earth. Captain Swift offered Okita a proposal: In exchange for disarming the antimatter missiles, they would restore the ship's engines, and the Ark would leave Earth for a new world, never to return again. The old man accepted, and the Liberators and allies departed the ship in gunships while the Ark began its journey out of the solar system.
