Born to a military family in Boston Ma, after some brief moving about his father got a desk job in Massachusetts and settled the family back into their home on the east coast just in time for Lucas to start school. He lead a rather boring typical childhood until the age of thirteen. At this age electrical equipment in the house started acting up, light bulbs blowing at random times and circuit boards shorting out. Even after all of this the family still chose to turn a blind eye to the events.

Upon going to college his powers started acting out more, and he felt that he could not just bury them away anymore. His grades faltered and his social interaction suffered as he tried more and more to contain these abilities. Finally in his junior year he gave up trying to hide these abilities and would often times let others write it off as bad equipment or faulty wiring. Around this time he also noticed his appetite was growing less and less, though he seemed to have boundless energy, even without much sleep.

After graduating he joined the Air Force, following in his father's footsteps. Attaining the rank of Captain, his fighter jet was shot down over Iraq during a mission. Upon ejecting he discovered that his chute would not open and as he entered into a free fall, he came to terms with his life ending. At the last minute he burst into a cloud of electric energy and flew. Unable to explain what happened when he returned to base, other then tell the truth the government decided to utilize him as a super powered soldier. Taking the name Vulcan, he embarked on many missions for the government. On his last mission, which is also his first failed mission, Vulcan was sent to retrieve a high profile hostage. Victor Hughes, the CEO and founder of the weapons engineering company Hughes International, was taken hostage. At the last minute as Vulcan approached where he was being held, the building was blown up, killing Hughes and all inside.

Shortly after this mission, Vulcan is brought in as head of the Infinity program. Infinity is designed to bring together a team of heroes to work for the government in keeping American lands and lands abroad safe. Vulcan is Infinity's liaison, answering directly to Monarch. Monarch is a mysterious government agency with a mysterious millionaire backer. Over the next week Vulcan mulls over twenty prospective heroes and their files before finally deciding on the five members that make up his founding team, being dubbed Infinity Inc. The team itself is brought together the next day.

Born with the ability to channel and control electrical currents. His body acts as a battery, taking in and storing all charged particles to which he can manipulate to how he sees fit. Is able to turn his body into electrical energy, which allows him to travel along charged currents. Due to this his body needs only take in small amounts of food for energy, the rest he gets through the electricity he absorbs.

Vulcan often times has a no nonsense personality. He is very militaristic in his approach to his hero work. He takes most everything seriously, and is always thinking on an analytical level.
