Trying to pick up the pieces of a shattered life, Ticonderoga has moved to Millennium City to help as best she can in a conflict-torn metropolis.

The Story So Far

Early Life and Career

Ticonderoga Ross was born in Ithaca, NY in January of 1979. She was intelligent and active, participating in school athletics and cheerleading. With the birth of her sister Saratoga in 1986 she found that her parents had less time for her, and so grew more independent.

Her family life was pleasant and unremarkable, and she scored high marks in school throughout her education. Upon her high school graduation however, there was disagreement about her future course in life. Against the wishes of her parents she chose military life over college.

Ticonderoga enlisted in the United States Air Force. She reasoned that working in a support capacity would be in line with her pacifist views, so she was trained as an air traffic controller. After a couple of years she became aware of another, far more challenging opportunity- USAF Para Rescue.

Ticonderoga endured through two years of the grueling training program. Learning all manner of skills including hand-to-hand fighting, Small unit tactics, escape and evasion, wilderness survival, as well as completing several parachuting schools and SCUBA diving classes. Following her training she went on several deployments overseas, remaining in the Air Force for a total of eight years. (1997 to 2005) She participated in several 'Live' rescue missions during that time, earning several commendations and a final rank of Staff Sergeant.

The Secret

From age thirteen, Ticonderoga has exhibited telekinetic abilities. She always kept her powers a close personal secret, even from her parents. She spent many quiet nights practicing and honing her control over her ability and soon was able to control it with casual ease. Unlike the vast majority of telekinetics, Ticonderoga excelled at fine control. Able to manipulate multiple objects in a fine, coordinated manner with little effort. She found that precise movement of small objects was far more useful than exerting the force to move large ones- things like unlocking doors, typing, even playing video games with her TK was effortless. She kept her secret for several years. She never registered as a superhuman and did not put her abilities on her enlistment paperwork.

Outed

In March of 2005, while on leave in Germany, Ticonderoga was attacked in an alley by a group of highly intoxicated soldiers. While she was able to immobilize three of the group, the remainder were able to overpower her and force her to the ground. In a moment of panic she unleashed a wave of telekinetic force that blasted two completely out of the alley, and pinned the others against the brick walls. This outburst was witnessed by a several servicemembers. The assailants were charged, but the Air Force also opened an inquiry into Ticonderoga's actions.

Ticonderoga was separated from Pararescue and taken back to the continental US. Several representatives of the US Special Operations Command met with her and suggested that she join one of the various superpowered combat teams sponsored by the Department of Defense. She refused, expressing a wish to rejoin the Pararescue Jumpers and citing her pacifist views. Following the meeting with the SOCOM Officers, Ticonderoga was accused of attempting to telepathically influence an Army Colonel into recommending her reinstatement into Pararescue. She was then arrested and restrained with a psionic suppression device. While in custody she was again pressured into joining a superpowered team, with the promise of dismissing all charges. She again refused.

Staff Sergeant Ticonderoga Ross, USAF was charged and tried by court-martial for the following offenses under the Uniform Code of Military Justice:

1: Article 83 - Fraudulent Enlistment. (Failed to disclose superpowered status)

2: Article 90 - Assaulting a superior officer. (Assault via known superpowers)

3: Article 91 - Insubordinate conduct. (Refused to comply with transfer orders)

Ticonderoga was convicted on all counts, as the court seemed to more or less ignore her defense. Her attorney wasn't incompetent, the court had simply made its mind up.

As a result of the convictions she was dishonorably discharged from the Air Force and sentenced to ten years in Stronghold Prison, a supermax facility in New Mexico designed specifically to hold superpowered beings.

Stronghold

Ticonderoga's time at stronghold was miserable. She became withdrawn, and refused to take sides in any of the various factional conflicts between the inmates. The suppression device around her neck caused her constant pain, and she was the victim of brutal treatment by many of the larger, stronger inmates. Through it all she would just sit there and take it, only occasionally defending herself, and then only halfheartedly. She continued maintaining her physical fitness, but frequently found herself in the infirmary after particularly savage encounters, including one murder attempt that resulted in the loss of her left eye and wounds to her chest and abdomen. Eventually many of the other inmates simply got tired of beating on her. The last two years in prison were served in relative peace, until the inmate riot in August of 2012.

On 6 August 2012 a Technopath by the name of Virtuoso managed to deactivate the power suppression devices in one of the cell blocks, allowing almost a hundred inmates to take it over, all fully powered. They then began to take the rest of the blocks. Ticonderoga was released in the confusion and, in an attempt to get away from the carnage, came upon a group of besieged guards holed up in a security checkpoint. She was able to seal the lockdown doors in the hallway, but found herself locked in the room with the guards. She began tending to the wounded guards, including a makeshift trachaeotomy to keep one alive, and began performing CPR on another. Over the next half hour order was restored, and a rescue team made their way into the security room. Ticonderoga was subsequently moved to the minimum security area and served as an orderly in the infirmary until she was granted early release as a result of her actions. <p>Upon release, she moved to Millennium City, where her future remains uncertain.

Profile

Physical Attributes

Ticonderoga is incredibly strong for her slight frame, a result of years of physical training and healthy eating habits. Her skin is still rather fair in spite of exposure to the elements. There are scars all over her arms and legs, reminders of the rigors of combat in the field and a rough time in prison. Her hair is an unremarkable blonde, and currently cut short rather messily with the remnants of a badly-done dye job. Her eyes are a pale icy blue, though only her right eye remains. Her left eye was lost in an attack while incarcerated in Stronghold that left her hospitalised for a month and suffering slight brain damage. At two percent body fat, she is capable of running incredible distances and maintaining activity for a ridiculous amount of time before succumbing to exhaustion. Her upper body strength is easily comparable to some of the world's most accomplished free-climbers and acrobats.

Training

Due to her training she is a jack-of-all trades, and is knowledgeable in several professional fields. Her Training includes the following:

United States Air Force Basic Military Training (BMT) at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX

USAF Air Traffic Controller school

Pararescue/Combat Rescue Officer Indoctrination Course at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX (9 weeks)

Army Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA (3 weeks

Air Force Combat Diver School at the Navy Diving and Salvage Training Center, Naval Support Activity Panama City, FL (5.5 weeks)

Navy Underwater Egress Training at Naval Air Station Pensacola, FL (1 day)

Air Force Basic Survival School at Fairchild AFB, WA (2.5 weeks)

Army Military Free Fall Parachutist (HALO) School at Fort Bragg, NC, and Yuma Proving Ground, AZ (5 weeks)

Pararescue EMT-Paramedic Training at Kirtland AFB, NM (22 weeks)

Pararescue Recovery Specialist Course at Kirtland AFB, (NM 24 weeks)

Experience

Ticonderoga spent a total of eight years in the Air Force, five of which were spent in Pararescue. She has deployed to numerous countries and participated in clandestine operations of all sorts. She knows a smattering of various languages (Granted, most of that is useless in Mil City) and has saved lives in the most inhospitable of places.

Her time in Stronghold exposed her to the darker side of humanity. With her small size and nonviolent nature she was a frequent target for all manner of humiliating and demeaning treatment. She was harassed and beaten and sometimes worse by other inmates and (rarely) not-so-professional guards. Notably, she would only attempt to fight back if someone *else* was in danger. Over the course of her sentence she withdrew into herself, often going for weeks on end without uttering a single word. The electronic collar that suppressed her telekinesis was ever-present, tight and uncomfortable at the best of times, and outright agonizing at the worst.
