Overview

Very little is known about these strange insect invaders, though it has been jokingly asserted that they should get in touch with Orkin for their next round of "strangers in the neighborhood" advertising. What is known and surmised can be summed up by this report by Julia Zuma P.H.D.

Findings of Julia Zuma P.H.D.

Report on Evidence: Video and Specimen Purpose of Report At the request of Gene Damage a.k.a. BioRad of The Guardians I processed the available evidence by comparison study of Qularr footage, DNA studies of the samples provided Gene (all carapace) and DNA from both Qularr and Earthly Insect Specimens. Visual Observations of the material.

Carapace pieces all mottled black and yellow to brown in appearance and all 3 to 5 millimeters thick. A layer of Epicuticle covers each specimen and is very similar to earth origin specimens. The Endocuticle and Exocuticle layers also correspond to earth origin species though the Endocuticle layer is significantly thicker, suggesting the ability to absorb a higher ratio of damage compared to normal earth insect specimens. Areas of cilia cover roughly half of the specimens outer surface and may be sensory organs. Video Observation

The specimen is bipedal and insectoid, standing over six feet tall. There is no evidence of wings. The kinetic energy created which these creatures is exceptional in an specimen of their size and yet is well within the range of normal insects at ratio. Though unconfirmed at this moment it’s is likely, bases on cooperation that these creatures are communicating via pheromones at short distance which could explain wht these creatures appear to attack in waves, Comparison of DNA

Attached DNA sequences show conclusively this is not a Qularr specimen, and though earthbound it has a high degree of mutation.

Conclusion

While these insectoids resemble Qularr in many ways they are definitively not Qularr. The likenesses in appearance are likely due to morphological synchopathy. Morphological synchopathy is the idea that if nature creates a biological function once, any new recreation of that ability or function will be similar in appearance. They are obviously dangerous, though at this point not one single hero other than Gene Damage has been attacked. While logic is technically outside my field of study, it would seem to me that given his mutations, and the mutations of the insects observed, there may be a common factor between the two.

Recent desert encounter indicates intelligence!

  • Umm, I wanna guess the were getting ready for a go-kart race, but they also had a crate of C-4, so than't be good. -Gene Damage

  • This indicates a higher order of colony intelligence than initially suggested. This occurred much more local to Greenskin Base and I consider it further proof that the mutations are related. Also of note this improvement of capacity indicates a change, either further evoloution/mutation or perhaps that there may be a "queen" nearby aiding the intelligent behavior. -Julia Zuma

Evidence and Samples

OOC

This organization may be used by anyone that wants to have Insectoids as nemesis henchmen. They are also an Amalgam 937 mutation which is essentially an RP hook to create a "gamma family" of mutates within the Champions Online environment. The Swarm exists on some level as a trope, and cannot really be negated; barring a great story that involves a fair segment of the community.
