History
the groups beginnings start at the united nations conference. the UN recognized the threat certain items pose, these items could come from a variety of background. such as technology, magic and religious items. The danger these items posed are both physical and political. the UN agreed that the best viable solution was for an independent party to take responsibility for these items. reporting to the UN but not to any singular country or power. All they needed was a man to take the responsibility.
Apotropaic at this time was a senior officer with the United Justice Coalition. He accepted the job on the conditions that he was recruited and stood responsible for all staff and dealings. Thus the cruciform sword was born
Applying
The cruciform sword has around 100 staff at a time. Most of this staff is maintenance and housekeeping staff. such as guards, engineers and so on. To apply for these roles the candidate must contact the TCS-careers website. All candidates are required to have a clean criminal record and guards under go several performance evaluation sessions.
Field agents may apply directly to Apotropaic or an officer. An ideal candidate will be a expert in their chosen field. All candidates can expect a short interview before being offered a trial period where they will be further assessed.

Base security
The swords base, codename: Aegis. Is as close to impenetrable as possible.
Level one
If someone was to make it onto the moon surface. They would have to pass through a Dense large minefield. The mines themselves are concussive and spread a restricting quick hardening gel. This gel is designed to bend and never brake. Lets say you try to fly over the mines. I hope your prepared to dodge laser fire, Oh and you better be damn fast cause lasers do move at the speed of light you know. Okay, so you've cleared the field and are at the base itself. You could try and force your way in through the questionite alloy doors, each one a foot thick. How about the windows? well if the shutters are open the glass itself is actually a specially treated clear resin. Try and break that with a hammer or fist and it'll throw the force right back at you. Any attacks on the bases exterior harder then a thrown baseball trips a base wide alarm but you can teleport in right? Well no actually the base operates magic and tech scramblers. Two of each. So how about the inbuilt teleport system? The teleport system is hard coded only to accept requests from sword communication gems. These gems are made by Apotropaic himself. They are literally bound to their owner. Tampering with them causes them to self destruct. But you might be able to convince a sword member to teleport you up as a guest. No defence against human stupidity right? Well half true. A Guest can gain access to the swords lobby this way with no alerts tripped but this causes the base to go into a silent alert.
Level two
The bases lobby seems quite undefended to the casual observer. No seen cameras or surveillance. No automated defenses or turrets. The casual observer can be quite easily baffled. The cameras are disguised via hologram and obscuration. There is now where in the lobby where theirs a blind spot. The floor panels can quickly rise up to become turrets. Each turret firing electric or magic bolts (various sources of magic) Designed to incapacitate. The computer in the lobby has no access to inside files or systems. Quite simply its the only place in the sword with an outside connection. The armory at the back of the lobby holds basic supplies. if you came this far without them you really don't need them. In a key coded security locker is the ring of unluck. You'd think if you could grab this and scarper you'd be home free right? Nope, the ring is a dummy the magic on it is a tracing spell. The real ring is safely tucked away in the vault. In the event of an emergency the bases outside artificial environment filed can be shut off, the doors opened and everything in the lobby sent into space. Apo has done this once and still misses his favorite chair. On this level are the bases living quarters, Gym, showers, and cafeteria.
Level Three
Approaching the doors to level three, Now sub Terra. Their is a sign reading thus "You have proven your skill to reach this far, Turn around and prove your intelligence". Below this is a list of the names of thieves who have died past this point. All world class, Most were super powered. The door is opened via keypad. The code changes daily. If the wrong code is inputted. The area infront of the key pad is doused with fire, Till not even ash remains. Tampering with the pad is also ill advised. As this will also trigger the fire.Lets assume you get past this point, Walking into the hallways and not speaking the pass phrase out loud and the hallways goes full on death mode. Long range, rapid fire turrets emerge at the bottom firing Hell-Spite Bullets (44.caliber, explosive tipped, silver and cold iron lining, Blessed). If the skillful thief can dodge bullets, Then they will surely run afoul of the laser wall. Not a grid or a single laser.But a patch free wall of high powered laser. The way back looks pretty tempting at this point. If you get passed this. And another door with the same set up. But different code and phrase. Your now in sight of the "Blue" vault.
Blue vault
The blue vault is protected by a Voice print, Finger print and key code combination lock. If anything registers as an error the items inside the vault will be obliterated by explosives. The area is heavily watched and guarded. considering this is the most lightly guarded area. A theft isn't going to happen anytime soon.
