Background and Origins

(WIP; remaining major info to be filled out soon)

Prologue: Lunar Mission

Before Drake took to defending the Sol System as the hero Solar Aegis, he was one of NASA's astronauts; a pioneer bound for the final frontier. Early in June of 2018, Drake and his assigned crew made way for Luna, Earth's moon, scarcely expecting what they would find there...

As the landing pod touched down upon the lunar surface, one of Fitzgerald's crewmates noted the presence of an unknown structure located several yards from the landing zone - a moonbase, clearly not of any known human design. Given some of the possible implications, alarm, concern, and curiosity were promptly sparked in equal measure. Despite the potential dangers, however, it wasn't long until Drake found himself walking towards the structure to investigate.

Only a few steps into the airlock, and it was clear that the lunar base was operational - mostly. A cursory glance was all Drake needed to tell that the place had been abandoned long ago, as it had fallen into a state of disrepair. Loose plating, dim lights, and flickering holograms were strewn throughout. Despite his crewmates insisting over the radio that he return to the pod, Drake pressed onward, driven by his curiosity.

After a thorough search with nary a clue save for holographic text in an unknown language, Drake eventually found himself within a moderately spacious room, its walls decorated with various pieces of armor - and in the center of it all, a fully-assembled suit of powered armor stood, motionless. With curiosity again driving his actions, Drake walked up to the armor to take a closer look. As he examined the armor, it began to 'wake up' in response to his presence. Then, without warning, the armor moved of its own accord, grabbing Drake by the wrist.

It was all a blur from there. Next thing he knew, Drake found himself reeling in pain as the armor clicked itself into place, tearing his old space suit apart in the process. By the time his mind registered what was happening, the armor had fully secured itself to its new operator as an unfamiliar female voice rang out in his ear, speaking in an alien language. Drake was panicked at first, but he quickly calmed down as he began to make at least some sense of the situation. Gradually, this new voice began to speak in English.

At this point, everything felt so surreal. Here he was, conversing with an alien intelligence whilst donning a suit of equally alien powered armor. Never in his life did Drake believe he would find himself in a first contact scenario - especially not one like this!

Relationships

Friends/Allies

Katah

As the "Living Intelligence" residing within Drake's armor, Katah is responsible for managing most of the armor's systems, be they permanent systems or temporary adaptations. Due to having been in stasis for an extensive length of time, her memory of events prior to her awakening is foggy at best - a fact that has not been helped much by the deterioration of the lunar base's database and records.
