Background and Origin

Not much is known about Shakti from when she was human. It is said that around 3412BC a small tribe located in what is now known as Ghana, Africa worshiped Babalú-Ayé the God of Illness, Disease and Healing. Shakti was a young priestess within her tribe. She trained in shamanism and voodoo magic. Her talents grew quickly and she became so powerful with magic that she caught the attention of Babalú-Ayé. He took a liking to her and she became his lover. He trained her to use her gifts to sway the fabric of life itself. He eventually granted her the gift of eternal life, which she became the envy of many other gods and humans alike. To save her from destruction he transformed Shakti into pure Spirit energy so that she may exist in the Spirit Realm and be out of the reach of those that would harm her out of jealousy. Locked in the Spirit Realm, Shakti had many centuries to perfect and craft her art. She became angry with Babalú-Ayé and took his essence into herself making her a being that rivaled the Gods themselves. She became the embodiment of life. Gifted with the ability to control life, death, illness, health, and disease she became revered by all tribes from the region of Africa where she spent her human years. Legend says that Egypt grew to power, overshadowing the old Gods and with no one to believe in them, they faded from existence. Shakti was left alone in the Spirit Realm for thousands of years.

In 1995 an archaeologist named Thomas White dug up the ceremonial knife that was used in many rituals performed by Shakti. It was also the knife she used when binding the essence of Babalú-Ayé to her own. Thomas tookt he knife to have the carvings translated. Once completed the archaeologist spoke the words written on the knife. "Ewige Lewe," he spoke aloud. The knife began to glow a slight purple color. A haze set into the room and out of the darkness crawled Shakti. A being seemingly made of shadows. She stood up, her head darting around the room like a cat watching a fly. She spotted her knife and her eyes began to glow the same shade of purple. White says a solemn, beautiful voice, almost like a whisper called out to him and told him not to fear her. He then handed her the knife. She took it and vanished into the shadow from where she came. The haze in the room cleared and she was gone. The three archaeologists in the room that day are still unsure of what happened. They say it felt almost like a dream.

Over the last ten years, Shakti has been pretty scarce, showing up to help the innocent and the sick at random. She has taken the last few years to learn about Earth's history since her imprisonment almost 5000 years ago.

She has a cat-like persona matching the lion hide on her back. She doesn't walk upright but crouches and runs like a large cat, almost predator-like.

Powers and Abilities

Amortality - Shakti cannot die as she is not technically alive. She is pure energy but uses her human form when around others

Life-Force Manipulation - Shakti controls the very essence of life and death. She can create, shape, and manipulate life and death alike. She draws on the life force of all living things to generate many abilities and techniques.

Life Essence - Shakti can absorb the life essence of her enemies and redirect it in a number of ways. She can heal herself and her allies. She can use the life force of others to bring the dead back to life. The extent of her control over this ability is unknown.

Voodoo/Curse Magic - Shakti is extremely well versed in Voodoo and Curse magic. She studied these forms of magic while she was still human and has such control over them that she no longer needs spells to perform these magics.

Aura of Sight Shakti is able to emit an aura that gives herself and her allies a boost of power and allows them to see through shadows.

Cosmic Awareness Shakti has an enhanced consciousness giving her the sensation of oneness with the universe. This enhanced consciousness enables her mind to perceive information that is closed to the five physical senses.

Virokinesis Shakti can create, manipulate, shape, transform, cause or heal all forms of diseases, including their severity, contagiousness, methods of spreading, etc. She can control the organisms that spread diseases, including germs, bacteria, virus or other pathogen on a cellular level, including bacteriophages, microorganisms, retroviruses, cells that abnormally grow to make cancerous tumors and cysts, and pathogens that produce genetic mutations.

Life/Essence Link Shakti does not see physical forms. She instead sees the life-force of the world around her. This ability allows her to see someone's true nature. She can also see disease or illness in someone or something's life-force. She can tell if a person is ill or going to be ill. She can then choose to remove or intensify the illness via Virokinesis.

Telepathic Communication Shakti does not have spoken word. She speaks through telepathy. She can communicate long distances and with more than one person/entity at a time. The range on this ability has no limit as she can communicate through dimensions.

Gear and Equipment

Weapon - She carries a ceremonial knife made from the jawbone of a donkey that is used to enact curses and perform Voodoo magic.

Armor - She wears a cloak made from lion hide. Her Head and shoulders are covered by a lion head and mane.

Relationships

Shakti was once the lover of Babalú-Ayé, the Orisha of Illness, Disease and Healing. It is said that he is the one that gave Shakti her powers, but that is just speculation.

Friends/Allies

General Perception

Shakti doesn't have spoken word. She communicates through telepathy. She is a loner and prefers it that way, although she does not enforce this. She can be intimidating when meeting people as she sees life force and not physical forms. This is how she knows a person intent. Overall she is very calm and non-confrontational.
