Ptelea

History
Ptelea is one of the ancient greek hamadryads, the sister of elm. She and her sisters lived for so long in peace and happiness. As the centuries marched on, humanity fell away from the old ways, and the hamadryads were forgotten, until the nearby town began to expand, cutting a horrific swath into the forests that Ptelea and her sisters called their home, killing hundreds of trees. The deforestation teams were obviously surprised when the sisters burst from the woods, launching volleys of green energy at their vehicles, wrapping the machines in vines and tree roots. The sisters fought the deforesters at every turn for months, until they eventually reached an agreement with the townspeople, who were actually quite honoured to have such amazing creatures live with them.
However, Ptelea was left to wonder how many other animals, people, plants suffer as she almost did. She learned of the chaos in the world from the townspeople, and decided to set out to help defend the world.
Habits
While humanoid, Ptelea rarely acts in a similar way to humans. She is often most comfortable around plants and vegetation, and enjoys meditation. She does not eat or drink normal food, instead making food through photosynthesis, and absorbs water through her fingers and feet, which is why she sometimes stands in water while meditating.
Powers
Ptelea has a deep connection with the earth and nature, allowing her to draw on that raw life-force, fashioning it into bolts of green energy to hurl at her foes, or to summon up binding vines, or pull free a chunk of earth to spirit her around the skies. Ptelea's soul is also bound to a certain tree back in her homeland, meaning that as long as it lives, she will too. Her body regenerates wounds and damage, and even if she appears to be killed, she can return to full health in a miraculously short time.
Weaknesses
However, this soul link is also her greatest weakness. Were anyone to ever find her tree and cut it down, she would die with the tree, aswell as being able to feel her tree's pain. This is the reason why she has never told a soul the location of her tree, or even the town she lives near. Her photosynthesis means she can be starved by keeping her in a lightless room, and with enough preparation, she can be starved of water sources too, though this can be very difficult. She she can sustain herself from draining almost anything with moisture. That includes villains, if she's desperate. As a final note, alcohol is poisonous to her, able to make her very sick.
