Guardian of one of the Lunar Shards, Professor Midnight wields both darkness and light. The Professor belongs to a clan that are the watchers of both the Lunar and Sol emeralds. These two emeralds were broken up into shards and distributed among various clan members in order to keep one person from possessing the power of both Lunar and Sol.
Professor Midnight is capable of controlling the darkness, but this mainly applies to him during the night. He can use the shadows to move about quickly and silently, use the shadows to create creatures that may assist him in combat, use the darkness to transport any objects or projectiles and redirect them to elsewhere, and more. As mentioned, the Professor is restricted to using these abilities when it is dark out, or at the very least, being able to use them in a dimly lit area. During the day, he is much weaker and may only use the shadows that the light creates.
The Professor is physically stronger than most humans, but not strong enough to compete with the number of metas that possess superior strength. and makes up for his lack of strength by being more agile and tactical in his fighting skills. The Professor possesses the ability to fly and may be able to teleport during certain situations. It is believed that the Professor receives his physical strengths due to the length of his beard, similar to how the Biblical figure Samson had received his physical strengths due to the length of his hair.
Very rarely does the Professor reveal himself to the public as he chooses to keep his face hidden from the outside world by keeping his identity secret with his iconic star and crescent mask. However...it is possible some may have bumped into this superhero and may have not even known it!
Powers & Abilities
- Darkness Mastery: Professor Midnight is capable of using powerful darkness abilities, which allow him to bend the darkness and shadows to his will. He is capable of summoning powerful shadow minions of varying sizes, ranging from human sized to 12 foot tall hulking creatures, that he uses as assistance in combat. The Professor is also capable of creating dimensional vortexes that can be used to deflect enemy projectiles and reflect them back at their attacker.
- Minor Knowledge of the Arcane & Divine: The Professor has some knowledge of various magical abilities. Knowledge of the arcane allow him to create creatures from the shadows while knowledge of the divine allow him to convert his darkness abilities into light, which can be used to shield allies and heal them to a lesser extent.
- Superhuman Strength: Although nowhere near the sheer amount of strength that other heroes have, Professor Midnight is physically stronger than most humans. He is capable of lifting heavier objects but is not strong enough to lift any vehicles.
Weaknesses
- Daylight: During the day, the Professor's darkness abilities are severely weakened. Even though he is still capable of using them during the day, the Professor has to tactfully use the shadows that objects cast in order for his abilities to properly work. His shadow minions are severely weakened and the size of them may not exceed that of a normal human during the day.
- Vulnerability: The Professor is by no means invincible and is vulnerable to a wide variety of powers and abilities.
