History
Prime Trigger, originally named Nobuo Toranaga, grew up in feudal Japan as a member of the Tokugawa clan. He was raised as a Samurai in the peaceful fishing village of Izu. The story of his birth, however, is quite extraordinary. His mother experienced difficulties during the pregnancy, and tried many strange herb combinations to assist the birth. Nobuo was born without complications, but the exact chemistry of the herbs used have placed his body and consciousness one second in the future, while he still perceives and exists in the present. In other words, he perceives both the present and one second in the future at all times, and he can travel one second forward in time. As he arrives the world is frozen for that one second of lag time.
As the clans clashed and battled, Nobuo noticed that he was very difficult to kill due to his power. One second may not seem like much, but with a blade swinging at you or a bullet on the way, it's all the time in the world.
Nobody outside of the clan noticed his battle prowess, but as soon as he became of age to fight in their battles, the Tokugawa clan slowly rose in power. He became the champion of the Tokugawa clan, and they never divulged his secret. Soon, Nobuo stopped aging. He outlived his entire clan, and hasn't felt the love of family ever since. That was 465 years ago.
Nobuo saw the new ways take over. He saw his entire clan become irrelevant and archaic in the eyes of common culture. He watched as his beloved way of life faded and died.
Since that time, he has stood aside from the evolution and natural progression of the world. He has not felt a part of it, and has never understood how people can be killed and wars can be fought with random destruction from far away, where people pushed buttons and wondered if they killed someone. He missed the old days where you saw and touched each opponent. He missed the way of the warrior and lamented it's weak grasp on the modern world.
He fights because he has no purpose. He has no liege lord to kill for or die for in battle. He fights to cling to the one shred of his past he has left. He lives the way of the warrior and seeks a cause to serve, to complete devoting his life to Bushido.
Nobuo's powers are accompanied by a pale purple haze.
Personality
Nobuo is skeptical and untrusting. He has not felt the rightness of belonging to a community, family or circle of friends for over 400 years. He is intelligent, nonjudgmental and intuitive, but he keeps his face a passive mask at all times.
He is conflicted as he lives the code of Bushido, but he has no frame of reference for honor in the modern world, and has not met another Samurai in centuries. Death does not bother or frighten him, as in death, Bushido is realized, but he feels useless and forgotten. He has no liege lord to die in glorious battle for, and he has no clan to kill for. He is lost and purposeless without a clan, as a large part of Bushido is serving one's lord.
It is important to note that the only thing Nobuo hates about the modern world is the random and chaotic death and destruction. He believes in rebirth after death, therefore there is no reason to fear it, but when people are killed in large numbers without single combat, there is no greater waste.
Powers/Abilities
Nobuo can manipulate his place in time for very short bursts. He can see one second into the future, and if he likes he can travel there instantly. As he arrives, the world freezes for one second to catch up. This moment of time is nonlinear, meaning he can travel one second into the future, perform an action for 2/10ths of a second and travel again. Everyone else would see the action done, but they would not see him. He can continuously travel up to 7 seconds, but beyond that his body begins to suffer severe injury.
This quick travel is what keeps him alive. He senses when someone pulls a knife on him before they do it, and he disables them before they know what is happening. In the heat of battle, he will travel around time so quickly that bodies will be falling after he has moved to his next target.
However, from Nobuo's perspective, he moves just as quickly as any athletic human male.
Limitations/Weaknesses
It is important to note that he is as frail as any human man. He is not strong or resilient.
He has a strong weakness to dark sorcery. He does not understand it, and suffers intense fear of it. This fear clouds his control of his ability and puts him in danger.
Appearance
He is of moderate height and slim build, like most genetically pure Japanese men. His body language gives little away of what he is thinking, and he is never aggressive or threatening, as he never needs to be.
Enemies
Nobuo has gone to great lengths to keep himself under the radar. He has earned an incredibly large amount of money from his mercenary work for different organized crime syndicates, and he has greased the palms and lined the pockets of countless people throughout time to keep his name off of any lists, and before this current entry was written, even the PRIMUS database only knew he is fast. Luckily, PRIMUS employees are above such petty cajoling!
He is well known in the criminal underworld but only since the 90's. He acts as a sort of bounty hunter/police force/assassin for organized crime syndicates. When they find they are having trouble controlling a member or want an ally to have an "accident" that won't lead back to them, they will hire Prime Trigger. He will research his targets and find evidence of dark deeds before he acts. He does this for about 30 years, retires that identity and creates a new one, starting fresh. As far as any of them know, he ages like anyone else.
However, during a voluntary security detail, he was discovered by Dr. Kami Nevus, a brilliant scientist working for Dr. Destroyer with delusions of world domination. She specializes in pre-natal pharmacology and was hired to put super powers into growing fetuses. Her work has failed for years, but she heard whispers in the criminal underworld of Millenium City about a mercenary who gained his powers through natural, safe means, inside the womb. She has been stalking him ever since. Kami is obsessed with Nobuo. She finds she can't hurt him, but of course she will murder hundreds of innocents to get to him. She has created a fully automated robot manufactory hidden somewhere in the mineral-rich hills of Southern Canada. Each day, without fail, robots report to her and she immediately sends them after Nobuo. She requires his DNA for the last stage of her research, and as such wants an inexhaustible supply. She needs him alive and money, secrecy and flying beneath the radar mean nothing to her.
Notes
Nobuo travels by use of a gadget he stole from Dr. Kami Nevus while she was trying to kidnap him. It is two different devices in one: a grappling hook and a weak anti-gravity field creator. When traveling underneath tall structures or overhangs, Nobuo will use the grappling hook to latch onto surfaces above him. When this is not possible, the device spawns a small, weak field of anti-gravity onto which the grappling hook can be latched. The field fades within three seconds of being created. The gun has a limited charge of anti-gravity, and needs time to recharge. It can only support Nobuo's weight for a limited time.
