Background

The following paragraphs have been taken from 'Capes in the dark', by Vanessa Mornindake. Viewers are advised to take said text with a grain of salt, as said artist has been known for less then satisfactory fact-checking. Regardless, it's the only text that shines some light upon the hero known as Phobon. There will be commentary written if needed for clarification, however.

Origin!

Phobon.

Not a widely-known name, yet he has left his mark, working in the shadows. Even the people he saved are divided about this man, if he is one (*)!

One of the more fascinating heroes to come our way, in my own opinion. And very secretive. Especially about his origin. However, through cunning (*2) and keen detective work, I, Vanessa, have puzzled together this great mystery:

Phobon has always been a hero in some way, even before his moment of changing. While he was only human, he did his best to safeguard Westside from it's many gangs, using not but raw willpower and skill (*3). All in all, a remarkable story about human perseverance, as it can't have been easy to fight the gangs without any powers.

But things changed during the Qularr Invasion. As bug aliens(*4) attacked , he wandered the streets, to see if anyone needed help, being the brave soul that he was. He found something else, though. Something...alien. Being the brave hero that he was, he couldn't leave it alone(*5).

But as he touched the surface of it, a humongous(*6) explosion ravaged the area, scorching everything in it's path! And from the flames....Emerged a new Phobon.

Skin as smooth as a baby, eyes like a blind man, and an appearance that slightly told you he wasn't human. His nose was gone, as were his ear-holes. He was changed forever.

It didn't took him long to discover that he had become stronger, faster and tougher then any human. Not to mention his gift of hallucinogenic gasses, which summon up the worst fears of a person. Obviously, he got his name from it.

Throughout the time that followed, he has made his mark on Westside, stemming the tide of gangs even more furiously then before!

Curiously enough, he usually remains within Westside. What drives this man to attempt to redeem this area? Is it revenge? A call for attention? Or something that mere humans just can't grasp?

But the weirdest thing is his anonymity; How could a person like him remain undetected? Is he not unlike the kind Samaritan? We can only guess at this..

(*)Phobon, also known as Bob Faraway, has been identified as a male.

(*2)Cunning meaning that she asked Phobon for it, and he gave it to her. Whether it's true or not is left up to interpretation.

(*3)We have it on good authority that he employed an industrial strength taser as well.

(*4)Qularr are actually more akin to crabs then any bug on Earth.

(*5)The fact that it was laying in front of his shop probably had something to do with it as well.

(*6)Phobon himself denies this, saying that it only scorched a small bit of the street. Some good soap cleared it right up.
