Pathfinder

Early Life: Gordon Stevenson was born on July 14th, 1917. He grew up in the country-side outside of Cleveland, OH. Due to the lack of good record keeping, not much is known about his childhood. What is known is that upon completion of high school, he enlisted in the US Army as infantry.

Military Service: Gordon showed himself to be an exemplary marksman. He quickly rose through the ranks and got pulled into special ops. Working his way through the Rangers, he found himself getting drafted into some special projects. It was discovered that Gordon had an amazing sense of direction and was able to always find the easiest, fastest path between two places even when he was unfamiliar with the terrain. This is where he earned the nickname: Pathfinder. It was eventually proven to be a meta-human ability. This lead Gordon to joining a special project codenamed Project Evolution.

In Project Evolution the military, through experimentation, attempted to induce meta-human abilities and maximize existing and discovered abilities.

Gordon was a glowing example of how the project was supposed to work. Upon undergoing the maximizing treatment, his simple "Pathfinding" power expanded and changed. Instead of being able to see the path to take, Gordon developed the ability to teleport. Through trial-and-error, it was discovered that he wasn't truly teleporting through space so much as slipping through time. In one experiment, to see if he could transport others with him, he was asked to carry a cat with him. When he materialized on the other side, all that was left of the cat was a withered husk. After examination, it turned out the cat died of old age and had been effectively mummified while being carried by Gordon. As it turns out, each jump by Gordon took, effectively, close to a hundred years to complete. It was at this time that it was found out, luckily for him, he was no longer aging.

Cold-War: With Project Evolution ending with the close of World War II, Gordon, still in the military, was pulled into the Cold-War era espionage scene. With his ability to teleport and his extensive combat training, he made a great infiltrator.

Most of the records of his Cold-War operations were either destroyed or are still locked away as national secrets. The one operation that is known was a failed attempt at infiltrating a Soviet missile silo, resulting in Gordon needing to fight his was out leading to a very high body count.

Current: Currently, after having vowed to never kill again, Gordon became a government employed weapons researcher. Between his experience and his studying, Gordon is a expert on weapons and ballistics. He helped create a new form of pistol that fires a "Molecular Bullet." These specially created bullets react to the material they are fired into becoming more or less dense depending on the material. When fired into armor, the bullets become more dense and harden, allowing for armor penetration. When fired into something softer, like a human body, the density and hardness drop, allowing the bullets to act more like anti-riot rubber bullets. This allows for one gun with one style of ammo to be used in almost any situation.

When the Qularr attacked happened, Gordon decided he had been out of the fight for long enough. With a new battle suit and armor with his prototype "Molecular Pistols" he aided the Champions with driving off the Qularr. Afterwards, upon realizing how much crime and evil was in the city, he decided to come out of retirement and returned as Pathfinder. Instead of a soldier or a spy and killer, he is now more of a law-keeper. Like the sheriffs of the wild west, he roams the city, fighting crime and righting wrongs as he sees fit secure in the knowledge that he no longer has to worry about killing with his new pistols.

Interesting Facts:

You will never see Pathfinder reload his pistols. He's learned enough control over his teleportation powers that he actually teleports ammo into his pistols as he is firing them.

Sometimes, when feeling nostalgic, he can be seen running around in his Cold-War Era combat suit
