Aeterna Staroux was born into a cultist group that studied the dark arts. They stayed hidden the best to their abilities from the otherwise celestial kingdom that they had decided to turn against. The fear of being found was taught to children at a young age, stressing how their practice could not be exposed, unless they wished to die. Taking this to heart, Aeterna never had the urge to leave their underground sanctuary unless absolutely needed and instead excelled in her studies, quickly advancing in her classes against her siblings and the other adolescents. She loved learning offensive magic in particular, and became one of the best at manipulating lightning in particular.
The cult being inbred, Aeterna was more or less related to everyone there, but she was by far the closest to her siblings, shutting herself out to most of the others. She became exceptionally close to her younger brother. She had been youngest for quite some time, and she took the job of having someone to watch over very seriously, vowing that he wouldn't get hurt under any circumstance if she could help it. She was much like a bodyguard to him, despite her petite appearance.
When Aeterna was thirteen, her brother had managed to accidentally expose the group on one of his first trips to the surface. The kingdom immediately fought against them. With a lack of fighting experience and no weaponry, the cult quickly began to lose members. Her family were some of the last survivors as they ran from the battle, hoping to escape and travel. While running, her brother managed to stumble. The rest of her family kept going, evidently eager to leave the one behind that exposed them, but she went back to try and help. The panic from seeing the guards approach her brother seized her in that moment, and she almost seemed to black out as she tried to will them away somehow.
Power. That's all Aeterna remembers from that day. Unbelievable, wonderful, power. And death. The bloodied streets and lifeless bodies often echos in her mind to this day. She was banished from the cult after the amount she exhibited, the cult fearing for their own lives. Death sentence was debated, but decided against as they feared she would excel such power again. She was left to die by her own people, and a hatred stirred in her heart as she struggled to survive, the initial blow from all that power hitting her at once taking its toll and making her incredibly weak.
Aeterna eventually took up petty jobs for money, primarily killing, as people often had dirty deeds readily available that they didn't dare go through with themselves. However, due to her excess traveling, she never had enough to support herself properly. She became known in some criminal circles as Nox Aeterna - Latin for eternal darkness due to her magic capabilities. But as she continued to use her magic to try and support herself, the weaker she became.
She eventually learned of a place called America and decided to travel there, hoping to start a new life. Not thinking her plan through, it didn't take long for the elf to get lost, going back to her roots and killing to try and get by. She eventually stumbled across a city called Millennium City and was recruited by law enforcers to help clear out some of the gang problems. She learned how to use a gun here, refusing to keep using her magic as she felt it drain her every time at this point. At this point, her magic and traveling took a large toll on her body, and she became malnourished without proper care.
She had an unlikely friendship with an UNTIL agent named Python. The two briefly dated, but his old VIPER affiliations caused the two to drift. Due to affiliation with Python, she lived in the UNTIL headquarters long enough to become tolerated with them. Her and Python had made a short trip back to Amarath, where she had checked on her family. She found herself still hated by most and nearly attacked. Angered by this, she holds a poor view on her family, and no longer speaks about them willingly.
Upon coming back to America, VIPER attacked the UNTIL base in search of Python. She eventually found herself at the hospital from the attacks, staying with Python upon the first attack on him. Much to her dismay, she quickly found this to be a trap when one of the VIPER higher ups rigged the hospital with draysha. She hid in an alley way, terrified of the monsters coming from the hospital, when Phantom made his approach on her.
That night in the alleyway is something she refuses to talk about, and still haunts her mind. The monster that approached her placed in her mind that Python had been planning to kill her all along, making the girl distraught and extremely distressed, terrified of the only person she knew here. After the illusion took place, Aeterna became a ruthless and careless being. She never had time to confirm if this illusion was real or fake, because, while shriveled up in fear and unable to defend herself, a group of men had decided to take her.
She was taken away from one bad situation and put in another. Drugged up to render her magic unusable, the men attempted to sell her as a slave, but her personality drove every potential customer away. With her acting unruly and apparently something they could not tame, they knocked her out with the plan to kill her. While on their way to their body dump location for the few that prove to be impossible to sell, a man approached them to negotiate taking her off their hands. Wary, they offered him a multitude of other women, but a few snapped bones later, he had managed to convince them.
Aeterna currently lives a semi normal life thanks to this random act of kindness saving her. Currently residing in an apartment complex, she had recently decided to attempt to genetically splice her DNA to change her appearance, the idea of Phantom ever finding her again haunting her mind. Anyone from her past would be unable to recognize her at this point...unless she spoke to them, that is.
BITCHY
Most likely the easiest word to use to describe the elf. Often offputting, she is easily saw as a nuisance more than anything. Seeming to have a witty comment for just about any remark, it's quick to dislike her the moment you realize it's not a charming personality and in fact very much how she always acts towards anyone and everyone.
SARCASTIC
She always seems to have a witty remark towards anything, and can be described as sarcastic, or less kindly, a smartass.

Aeterna has a natural honing to sorcery. She uses lightning arcs as a signature power, being more of an elementalist dark arts user than anything else. She also uses wind to her will when needed to take out multiple enemies. Aside from her magic, she doesn't have any other powers; she's as vulnerable as anyone else, just powerful.
LIGHTNING
She has acquired a powerful usage of lightning. The bolts tend to come from her palm, and she can often be seen beginning to charge an attack. Using the lightning for a prolonged period of time will drain her, so she tends to use it in bursts, jumping around to try and get back her energy before sending out another bolt. This lightning is not special, and shares the same characteristics as natural lightning, which means it can also set things on fire due to collateral damage.
WIND
She has the ability to summon storms equivalent to that of a tornado. This spell is the most powerful she knows; she used a version of it in her panic while in Amarath. To use it is considered an ultimate failsafe by her, and often times will leave the girl terribly vulnerable and near death if she uses it. As a result, she will only use it in a few scenarios, the main one being if she is surrounded by enemies and has no way whatsoever to defend herself otherwise.
DEFENSE MECHANISM
Aeterna's defense mechanism is a circle she uses to keep her energy flowing. The circle itself is used by her whenever attacking a stronger opponent, since she normally needs to be mobile in combat. It's a vital importance to surviving against things that would, in any other circumstance, destroy the elf. She relies strongly on this when stuck in tough situations. Despite relying on it so much, getting her out of the circle does not require much aside from getting the upperhand to shove her out of it, making it an absolute failsafe or something she tends to use when trying to recover from an overuse of her magic.
