At the age of 19, the young Equilibrium made a horrible mistake; Driving under influence.
On a cold, dreary evening somewhere in November, Eq and his friends were having a blast at playing board-games and drinking all sorts of alcoholic beverages. One of his friends commented to Eq; "I bet you don't dare to drive that fancy car of yours on the slippery roads tonight!". Of course Eq saw this as a challenge. He took his coat, grabbed his keys and walked outside towards his car. As he struggles to put his key into the key-hole, his friends trying to stop him because it was just a 'joke'. Stubborn as Eq is, he took off into the dark night, riding his car without any lights on and leaving his friends behind, never to be seen again.
Rock music blasting from his speakers, going 80 on a cold and wet road. Having so much fun sliding and slipping his car
around corners, and then it happened.
Eq lost control of the steering-wheel as the car slips off the road and into a small ravine.
The car cartwheeling down the cliff while Eq is screaming his lungs out, terrified of what might happen if he reaches the
bottom.
He wakes up still thinking he's in his car at the bottom of that ravine. But something isn't right, everything looks so open and white. As he slowly slips back into reality trying to stand up, a person suddenly walks up to him and holds him down. "Wha-what's going on?" Eq asked and the person replied; "Calm down, I'll get you fixed in no time". As Eq is still wondering what is going on, he suddenly realizes he can't feel his arms. He looks to his left and notices he has no arm anymore. Looking to right and again, no arm. "It doesn't hurt.." Eq says. "That's right" The person replies, "I've given you something to numb the pain" Grinning and tapping the needle of the syringe he's holding. "Now this might sting a bit." As the person is closing in with the needle towards his right eye. "W-wait..No no, NO!" And Eq loses consiousness.
Waking up yet again, Eq quickly realizes this isn't a normal hospital. As he is strapped onto a table standing vertically, the mysterious person walks up to him and casually asks; "Hey, what's up?" Where Eq responded on with; "You son of a b*tch! What are you doing to me?!". Getting no response from the stranger, he suddenly feels he has arms again. He looks down and sees two, black, shiny new arms attached to him. "Why are you doing this?" Eq asks and still no response back.
The mysterious person walks out of the room and suddenly the straps that were holding back Eq loosen up and fall on the ground. As he stumbles on the floor, a voice emits from one of the speakers in the room; "Ahem, it this working? Good. Now young man. Try to get out of this room. You have 5 minutes." Eq looks up and sees a timer counting down from 5 minutes. He stands up and looks around. He grabs one of the straps and binds it around the door-knob. Getting into position to pull as hard as he can, he gives a small pull and the door is getting pulled out of the frame like 10 persons were pulling that strap. Eq being confused for a minute, he looks at his new arms and goes; "Whoa, this is amazing." He walks through the doorframe as he enters another room. The same voice emits from the speaker in this room; "Excellent! Next test. 3 minutes, young man!" Suddenly, a door opens and three, heavily-armored men walk into the room all holding a police baton. Without even thinking, Eq runs up to them and flings his arms towards the men. Within seconds, the three men lie on the ground groaning in pain.
With a big grin on his face, Eq walks through the door and stumbles upon yet another empty room. Again, the voice from the speaker says; "Yes yes, magnificent! only 18 more tests to go! 4 minutes." Eq raising one brow while looking at the speaker; "Seriously? Tyeah, right" He scoffs. He walks against a wall, facing his back towards it. He puts one foot against the wall, and raises his arms in front like a shield. With all his strength, he pushes himself off the wall, launching into the opposite side of the room. As he bashes through the wall, an alarm goes off and he notices he's outside. Four buildings further, a huge explosion happens and he sees what looked like a person under a pile of rubble. Eq thinking it was probably just a guard, he didn't pay much more attention to it.
He climbs up a fence and escapes while almost being hit by bullets that are shot from the guards.
