Blake Thomas was born a mutant, but his powers only manifested in his early 20s, when he was a regular student at Millenium City University (MCU). It all started when he fell off a window during a party. He broke both arms and was impaled by a branch. By the time he arrived at the hospital, most of his injuries were completely healed. That caught the attention of a very specific government section, one called Project Caladrius, who kidnapped Blake.

Project Caladrius main purpose was subject superhuman with healing abilites trough augmentation processes in order to create self-sustainded soldiers. There, Blake went through a gruesome routine, enduring years of physical and mental abuse, miraculously keeping his mind sane (as far as possible). The final stage was split in two processes:

  • 1) Lace the subject bones with Kendrium;
  • 2) Implant a pair of claws on both forearms, also laced with Kendrium;

Nobody survived the final stage since the project started. By cosmic fate or simply just luck, Blake not only survived the bone lacing, he also managed to escape the facility, thanks to a mix of rage and adrenaline.

Now back to Millenium City (and still chased by Caladrius), he decided to lay low for a while, assuming a new civilian identity, Lance Thomas. After a while, Blake felt a need to use his abilities to help others, since MC was infested with criminals. From this day on, a third identity was born, the ferocious Coyote!

Before Project Caladrius, Blake used to be an outgoing, overtly expressive person. Currently, those traits are almost entirely gone, making him a more quiet and thoughtful person. Despite his traumas, Blake doesn't have homicidal tendencies, although he adopts a slightly violent posture with criminals. Overall, he has a lawful personality.

The healing factor is Blake's only mutant ability. Both Kendrium bones and claws are consequence of Project Kendrium experimentations.

Extensive experimentation and abuse caused inumerous traumas on Blake, most notably two:

  • Regular brainwashing caused his mind to be more susceptible to mental control and hypnotic suggestions;
  • The augmentation processes encased him inside a water tank most of the time, making him develop Aquaphobia;
