"They also will answer, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?" He will reply, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me." Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

Matthew 25: 44-46
Chaplain America (born May 1, 1963) is a Millennium City street preacher with superhuman speed. He works at the Union Gospel mission on Westside, looking after drug addicts and the down and out.
Out of Game Origins:
Chaplain America is a reaction to two things in Champions Online. The first being that religious characters of any stripe are judgmental, crazy, and/or occult oriented. I wanted to do one which wasn't any of these things, but was a good man who had a mission. The second was the unrealistic lack of African-American supers in what was once Detroit.
He's a speedster, mostly because that's an archetype I hadn't played yet in CO, and because the Martial Arts pass that was happening at the time he was created encouraged me to take a speedster with a few of their powers. And I thought the name was a clever pun.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of all wisdom. But not so much fear that you fail to realize that God is compassionate, eager to extend grace and change your life for the better in ways you can't imagine. Jesus is not just King of Kings, He's the Superhero of Superheroes."

History!
Origins
For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. -- Matthew 24:24
(RP, walkup friendly) A street preacher in Millennium City's Westside, Arthur Lanz works at the Union Gospel Mission where he ministers to the local homeless population, who jokingly dubbed him "Chaplain America". A low level metahuman with superspeed, the Chaplain tries to settle disputes without violence and mediate gang wars, but doesn't, by his own admission, always turn the other cheek.
Arthur's mutant powers came to the fore during his service in the Gulf War, during a firefight in Kuwait. After the war, Arthur used his powers for profit, but found religion and the gospel after the Battle of Detroit.

The Roller has prayed on several people that Arthur has placed under his protection.
