An Irradiate is a human whose genetic structure was mutated via exposure to nuclear radiation from atomic fallout, nuclear waste or some other radioactive source. While many cases of radioactive mutation lead to gross deformities, scarring, loss of sanity and death as evidenced by the mutants roaming Burning Sands, there are cases of Irradiates coming out smelling like the proverbial nuclear rose, boasting incredible new powers while still retaining at least some of their appearance, mind and/or health.
