Hank Edwards isn't a legacy hero, teenager who lost his parents, super-genius, etc. His father created a metal fabricating company that supplied metal pieces to various parts of machines, ranging from dishwashers and stoves to cars and planes. Hank's father made a lot of money and tried to spoil Hank by giving him whatever he wanted, because he didn't have that option as a child. Hank took these opportunities to study things that interested him, such as martial arts. While flying back from a conference, a villain named Basilisk took control of the flight, killing everyone on board. Inheriting his Father's company, and his money, Hank used his resources to become Black Bird
Hank is very serious about being a hero. He may joke from time to time, but he is focused on bringing in the bad guys and making sure people are safe. He’s a hard-worker and does not give up easily.
Hank trained for several years in different martial arts forms, so he could become a balanced fighter. On top of this, he received training in marksmanship as well as stealth operations.
Black Bird uses a completely black suit with a white emblem on it, and a white hood and cape. In his utility belt he carries a combination of things including: smoke bombs, boomerangs, bolas, a notepad and pencil, and a few others. His mask's lenses allow an infrared heat-signature setting as well as a 4x magnifier if need be (He can only use one at a time).
Black Bird is a proud member of The Adventurers. After investigating the disappearances of several missing children within a park in Millenium City, he met Red Spider. The two set up a stakeout, only to discover that a tree within the park had been magically altered. The tree open up and swallow it’s victims, sucking them of their life force. Black Bird, Red Spider, and fellow Adventurer member, Sombra, all worked together to defeat the tree. Since then, he has worked with their group.
