About

A veteran role player, writer, artist, community leader and a genuinely good soul with just as many merits as any other human being, and probably twice as many flaws. I can spend hours upon hours designing stuff, writing backgrounds, thinking up plots, or just hanging out with the very few people I hold dear. If you need help with a character concept, hit me up. I'm not always able to help as I can be busy, or not in a creative mood but I happily help whenever I can!
Quick to make acquaintances but slow to trust.

Tell-Friendly!

As long as the tells are not about asking me for sekhs or random rudeness / being a madbro at something I totally didn't mean to do to make you angry, honest!! Or whatever, you know what I mean. I'm all up for conversation, rp, whatever. My moods change, of course.

Walk-up friendly!

Most of my characters are, anyway. Some of them are rude or anti-social, or both. Don't be disheartened, remember, I'm not the character!
What else do you want to know? Ask me in game!

Approach

I like to make friends and to be nice to people! I don't always manage, nobody's perfect. Trust me, I tried! Anyway, I made this page so that there is more room in character descriptions for actual relevant stuff than writing the same five lines at the top, neither of which will cover every subject on what I find important nor will it be always relevant to everybody who wants to read a character of mine. This here is a work in progress so take your time to read what-ever interests you, hit me up in-game if you have a question, or just go ahead and play with me! This also happens to be the ruling of any group I lead.

Personal Conduct: OOC

I have a major article on this one under http://kymlun.com/rules but here's the short version for those who do not like to dig through a whole discussion typed out in 12pt text.
- Behaving Well(BW) is an approach to conducting oneself pleasantly. This version of BW refers strictly to an online environment, but with some measure of thought it can easily be translated into any social environment be that real life or otherwise. I read this every week or so, to remind myself.

1. Respect

Undoubtedly the most important part of any manner of personal conduct. I do my best to follow this principle. Sometimes I fall short because I can have my moods and end up breaking my own rule, and be ashamed of myself. But more often than not, I'll remember this and do my best to be a good example.

1.a. Respect yourself

Do not behave in ways that you do not want to get from others. A little kindness goes a long way, a grin is easy even when you're grinding your teeth, and most importantly do not take it out on others who had nothing to do with it.
Saying the truth is the number one most important part of respecting yourself. Do not catch yourself being dishonest. It's bad for you.

1.b. Respect others

Kindness, and being generous, are something I'm doing my best to practice. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes not so much.
Do not DO something to another person. Attempting to lift somebody from the ground sounds so much better in an emote than outright claiming you do and ending up denied.
Remember this! IMPORTANT! - You are the #1 person responsible for your character, you decide what happens to it, but also others decide what happens to theirs. The only exception to this are scenarios with game masters but that does not apply to Champions Online.

2. Do not hate: appreciate.

A lot of times it's easy to point fingers. Why go the easy way though? Behaving civil and seeing the good in the bad will get you more of the above - that respect stuff. For example:
I loathe furries OOC. Sorry, I do. Not the concept - I adore Disney. Rather I despise the disruptive attitude of run-amok catlings disrupting the role play of just about everybody in the region just because they need to act like a flippin' attention whale. I also find the concept of animal parts on humans largely unattractive. On the same page, I learned to deal with it. Some of my characters will be friendly about it, others will outright ignore - while I'll not care too much on the global level, just take metal notes. Instead of blowing up at a player, I make them feel that I do not appreciate the attitude and in many, many cases I end up finding another friend who realises that I prefer other things.

2.a. If you don't like it, stop doing it.

The typical case of hater that will keep going on and on about what they hate instead of going and doing what they like. I don't understand this mentality, I'll simply find something better to do with my time if said catling persists. Leave the scene. It's not giving up or running away, it's simply not wasting your time on bullsnikt.

2.b. If it doesn't work, don't force it.

The other end of the same spectrum, I see a lot of players push the envelope even when they're told no - both IC and OOC. You're wasting not only MY time, but your own as well! Just stop.

3. Leave.

When all else fails. When you've had a horrible day and the game is not cutting it. Instead of making enemies or further annoying yourself, log off and do something else, or go and kill mobs away from the crowd.

Personal Conduct: IC

What happens IC, stays IC. I'm old enough to know the difference between IC and OOC - then again it might not just be a matter of age, there is the experience behind it as well. This has always been a sensitive subject and a source for crazy lots of conflict so I figured I'd open a special section for this one. I'll stick to my personal disclaimer that I do not claim to be the end-all source of knowledge to role play, acting, characterisation or writing and narratives - but my point of view has helped me and others. Here's to sharing!

IC taken for OOC

It has happened before and probably will happen again that a not-so-friendly character of mine will offend somebody OOC through how they behave IC - I'm sorry if that happens but this is role play.
Every-one will need to understand that the above principles of behaving well in an online environment, or nearing the above, is somewhat mandatory else you'll find yourself in conflict that you lose the moment you enter it. Both sides lose it because you're no longer having fun and it will inevitably turn into an e-nis measuring contest.
Alternatively there are those who think that I'm my character and start to send me tells one way or another about something they want to take to a personal level. This is one of the major reasons why I avoid ERP.

Thoughts on ERP

Fade to black. Romance is fine, though my characters tend to be uninterested, they are usually straight and mostly old fashioned. Not to say I shy away from mature rp, or that I have never done it and not to say that I'm sinless or ascetic. I actually have my mrp preferences. I'm simply here to have fun and my fun does not involve typing out such scenes. I do in fact prefer mature rp with mature players but this does not need to involve intercourse - or it can just fade to black.
Here is why. This is complicated, but I really need to love the other person for anything of the sort to work for me. I'm not going to elaborate, pretty sure if you're curious about this point of view of mine you'll just ask me in-game.
Oh, and my stance on sexuality is well covered by this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB6TiRJNI-Q

"Quit associating sexuality with negativity! There is nothing wrong with sex, being sexual or even sexualising objects! Just because a person is sexualised it doesn't mean he or she loses value as a human being. If you think they do then you're warped and you need a healthier view of sex. Quit demonising what is arguably the most human aspect of humanity."

Thoughts on MRP

Refers to scenes regarding 18+ content be that violence, suggestive themes or anything else known to fit the M-Rating. I'm game for most things that you can see in a 18+ movie, with special regards to anime / comics themes that aren't straight porn stuff. This is fairly hard to describe and I'm not going to write a novel about my likes, role play I do should not begin in such a way, much like I will not just end up touching a person I just met five minutes ago.

CvC

I'm not a competitive person at all. Most of my characters will avoid direct character versus character combat, as some of them are omega level and/or are bound by oaths of honour. My personal view on confrontation is that where one side loses, it tends to be disappointing for somebody and in an environment such as Champions Online there is little to no reason for it.
When I do bother, I'll go with mutual respect.

Power

The rule of big dicks:
- Those who have it, do not wave it around.
- Those who ARE, get offended at that notion.

Personal Conduct: Gaming

Then there is the part of OOC where it's not even IC or OOC anymore, just playing the game: killing stuff. Here's a few things I find useful to mention, and the way I deal.

GG THX

The only response in pvp, ever. There is no need to hate, no need to argue, no need to make it difficult. One side wins, the other side loses, that's how it is, deal with it or don't compete.
They call you OMFG NOOB? gg thx.
You got wrecked by another player? gg thx.
The enemy team is trash-talking? gg thx.

Log the f**k off, now!

If you ever get mad, you should go and cool off. Games were supposed to be fun. If you see me log, that's why. I lost my mood to play. Don't worry, I don't hate you, I'll be back.

Kymlun

Honourable mention of www.kymlun.com, my personal community of friends. Very few of us around anymore, we play Neverwinter Nights.

Characters

As designer, role player, writer and artist I tend to make a million different characters from npcs to actual characters I play. The limitations of Champions Online compared to my main game, NWN, leave me with bringing only a handful of them here. But here goes:
