A Brief History
Coldsnap was always a natural leader and a born hero. Her powers exhibited in small ways as she grew up. The cold of the northern winters never bothered her. She was always outside in light clothes despite her parents' wishes otherwise. Her body temperature was always ten degrees lower than normal, a fact that worried her doctor. She never suffered from illnesses that are typical brought about during the winter months.
Amanda Davis grew up in Montpelier, Vermont. Her parents were moderately well off, but not so much that she didn't grow up with the understanding of worth. She always knew about her powers and over the years experimented during the winter months, so that no one else would notice. In High School she was a nartual leader; captain of the field hockey team, Senior class president, and devoting her free time to helping out the unfortunate. As she perfected her powers her decisions were more and more becoming cemented. By her graduation she had plans already to move to a big city and help there as a Heroine. She never told her parents about her control of Ice, preferring to keep her identity a secret.
She moved to Millennium City, deciding to attend college there and took a job as the Hostess at a swanky Renaissance Center restaurant. She took up the identity of Coldsnap and defends Millennium City.
Personality
Amanda is a natural leader. Charismatic, pleasant and outgoing. She takes charge of any situation and gives everything her full attention. She's always been naturally competitive and always pushes her powers and abilities.
Powers
Amanda's powers are specifically that she can nearly instantly lower the temperature in her immediate vicinity. This manifests in the spontaneous creating of Ice from the ambient moisture. She uses this to hurl steel-hard chunks of ice, create nearly impenetrable walls, encase enemies or even to travel via an ice slide. The ice rapidly melts as she leaves the area leaving nothing but a trail of water.
The Present
Amanda graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in Thermodynamics. She took the program to better understand her powers. She also thought that it could land her a decent job after college but soon discovered that outside of the physics labs, which were placed in mostly unpopulated areas, that there wasn't much of a call for her expertise. So she elected to a decent paying job at an upscale restaurant. However she has used her knowledge for unorthodox uses of her powers. Her knowledge and confidence grows daily as she gets more and more experience as a hero.
Trivia
- Coldsnap has never been, and probably will never go to the Southwest Desert. This has less to do with the heat than the lack of moisture in the air. Coldsnap realizes that she couldn't be nearly as effective there.
- Coldsnap went to college with Strato-Girl. In fact they teamed up in college several times fighting crime there.
- Despite the fact that she doesn't wear a mask, Coldsnap's secret identity is still secret. the hoarfrost that covers her body from the use of her powers, as well as the icy glow that her eyes get have been sufficient to mask her identity thus far.
