Sapphira Star
History
The Early Years
Christina Starlight Corrigan (now known as Sapphira Star) was born on September 13th, 1989 to James and Lisa Corrigan, a wealthy couple who lived near Detroit, Mi. One year later the couple gave birth to another child, Ethan Andrew. Shortly before the attack on Detroit, while Christina was still a toddler, her parents moved the family to Maine to live with her paternal grandfather, who was extremely ill at the time. Her grandfather, Michael Corrigan had been a lively, adventurous man in his prime and now that he was bedridden, he re-lived his adventures by sharing them with his grandchildren. Eight years they lived with him until his cancer ridden body finally gave out.
Growing up after this loss of their only confidant was difficult for Christina and Ethan because although they had nearly every material possession that they desired, they lacked the one thing they wanted most, their parent’s affection. Their absence had not been sorely felt until the children no longer had a loved one from whom they could receive affection. In later years, Christina would remark that ‘some people were just not made to be parents.’
As is the way of most children who feel a lack of attention at home, Christina found that she received more attention from her parents when she was in trouble. So, she found more and more things to do wrong. By the age of 13, Christina, who now went strictly by her nickname 'Star' was widely known by police throughout the downriver area.
Leaving a long list of crimes in her wake, Star finally ran away from home at the age of 14. Winter in Michigan is cruel enough without being homeless in the west-side of Millennium City. So, when Anthony Vasquez offered to take Star in, the choice was easy. Little did she know that it would be the last time she made a choice of her own for many years.
