Kahi
With potent, flowery words speak I,
Of something common, vulgar, dry;
I weave webs of pedantic prose,
In effort to befuddle those,
Who think I wile time away,
In lofty things, above all day
The common kind that linger where
Monadic beings live and fare;
Practical I may not be,
But life, it seems, is full of me!

The Beginning
In the third year of the rule of King Selk the Second, a daughter was born to a loving family. The new born had the promise of a simple life in this ancient world; the red and black land of Khemet so tied to the river of life, the Nile, ran its length from the Upper Kingdom to the Lower. The kingdom was prosperous; wealth and knowledge thrived in this ancient civilization and at the time, Khemet was the greatest civilization in the world.
Kahi’s father, Nebamen, was a priest of Amun-Ra’s temple; a position which was destined to thrust him into the realms of power and importance, a position which was to prove the lynch-pin of the future. Favored by the immortal being Ra, Nebamen was raised up to be the great being’s council in this world and perhaps, his closest human friend. This placed Nebamen close to the Pharaoh and as it happened, close to harm.
Long before she was old enough to remember them, Kahi’s family was taken from her; murdered for power, prestige and control, Kahi still only a baby would never know their love. She did however avoid their fate and was saved from death by the great being Amun-Ra; that day, perhaps guilt driven or feeling compassion Ra gave the young Kahi a great gift in lieu of all that she had lost.
That day, Kahi received the Eyes of Ra, making her a Wadjet in this world, simultaneously instilling great power and responsibility, as well as certain volatility in the young human child. Now forever marked with the dark lines of the Wadjet about her eyes and a glimmer of gold within them, the gift from Ra is a great mark of order and light, yet with both can come wrath.
Amun-Ra, perhaps for reasons he will never share gave the child Kahi to his then son, Set. History has done much to blur and tarnish the image of the being known as Set; namely his demonization at the hands of the invading Greeks and other civilizations, the truth, as it happens is not so vicious. Set was a great being of chaos and storm yes, he was also however a being of protection and love, giving and compassionate in equal measure with his wrath. Just as the realms of Order are capable of great cruelty in the name of good, Set is capable of much good in the name of Chaos.
Kahi grew up in Set’s temple, Sepemeru, The House of Set. She was brought up in wealth and served by the priests of his order, she took the name Kahi Setiren, a fact she shares with very few in the modern age as it denoted an almost ‘royalty’ status in that ancient culture. She was treated like a Princess to be sure; educated in the greatest knowledge the kingdom had to offer, taught to read the Hieroglyphic stories and the simpler script used on papyrus she proved to be a challenging student for her teachers, certainly troublesome.
For a long time in her early life, this existence was enough. It drew to a close however when one day her suspicions about the gift Amun-Ra had afforded her were made manifest; she was destined to be more than the simple human she then was.
With a whispered secret drawn from her father Set, her human life ended. Now she holds onto that Greatest Secret of All with all of her existence, Kahi was transformed into a Sphinx and guardian of knowledge, appointed by Amun-Ra.
Today in our modern age, Kahi lives her life out in duality. Living without much of a care or need of money or resources, she owns a prominent apartment in Downtown Millennium City and seems to need for nothing, at least, nothing so material.
With her poignant golden eyes, she watches the world carefully. Committed to keeping the world she loves safe; and even more so the people she loves protected. She is prepared to use her abilities, all of them, to help this world and protect the innocent; though she considers herself foolish for it, she always holds onto hope. More often than not though, she will meddle without moving obviously to try and turn events to what she believes will serve the greater good.
Kahi is a Sphinx, created by Seth at the dawn of his exile. As a Sphinx she is prone to issue riddles to those who wish things from her, or even see her true form. Sphinx's are guardians and gate keepers to great power and knowledge, however she is the last of her kind. All those she would call like herself, have fallen into an endless sleep of stone and cold.
A Sphinx is an immortal being, they remain so until their great secret is told. Until that secret is known and understood by another, they will always be reborn when killed. Kahi can die, but she always comes back from the afterlife no matter the nature of her death.
Proven Powers, Abilities and Strengths
Kahi; the skin changer
“Do I shock you?” she asks; this golden woman so out of place, so conceited in the midst of such terror. Watching the man before her neither without a flicker of fear nor without a mark of concern; there is but an impossible smile.
Impossible not by measure of a world gripped by madness; but by measure of its perfection, soft and understated yet infectious, almost virulent in the way it passes into your heart. Hans Gruber could do nothing but stare at her; even so marked with the symbols of his office, he could not intimidate her, indeed, he even found his desire to do so falter. But this is Germany, nineteen forty—no one and nothing stood in the way of an officer like this; even worse standing before him with such ‘dirty’ skin, such dark hair and not a fearful apology to be had.
Gritting his teeth; his hand reaches for the reassuring feel of gun-metal, sliding the weapon free of its holster. “Solche frechheit.” He says bluntly, the ire she stirs in him for such lacking fear tightens his heart, and his stance. He gestures to the men behind him to take aim with a simple wave towards her—surely she would break now, surely she would beg like all the others.
Hans actually flinches with anger. The golden woman simply laughs at them, she has no respect for them nor their office. He feels fire in his chest and throat, unseemly rage for an officer such as he—it is not simple anger he feels, but the weight and constriction of rage. He raises his weapon to aim at her, along with the sights of his men.
The golden woman does not really move; not making the lurch to run that Hans would have found so agreeable, but standing her ground with that perfect, stirring smile. Then that next time Hans blinks…
The golden woman is gone.
Replaced by something else—something large, a dark imposing something that he cannot help but stare at as it looms over him and his men. Glowing crimson eyes bore out from the dark creatures imposing visage. The head of a dog—but not quite a dog, a long eared, slender Jackal peers down at them from atop a bestial yet humanoid frame.
It takes a slow, large stride towards Hans and his men. The impact of a clawed foot thudding as those very claws splay out against the concrete to take the creature weight, muscular toned arms opening as if so greeting out to them, even as the thing snarls subtly.
“Un-- unmöglich!” Hans snaps, staring at the dark creature with wide, terrified eyes.
“Do I shock you?” the creature asks; her tone all the darker and deeper for her large ferocious body, yet still carrying that feminine tone of the golden woman…
The next sounds to ring into the bleak night of the ghetto were gunshots—and the screams of men.
She can totally change herself; limited only by her imagination and desires to better fight, better kill and better resist the efforts of others to do alike to her.
Since her early days; Kahi leans towards a fearsome form, imposing height and countenance of a dark Jackal which makes her a rather frightening image. Intended to terrorise those she seeks to do harm; a weaponised body of muscle, teeth and claws. Capable of immense feats of speed and strength, much beyond that of a mere human.
Much of Kahi's ability to fight stems from her ability to alter her shape. She can become more agile, stronger and give herself increased endurance this way. You will hardly ever see her fighting in a humanoid shape, simply because in such a form; she only has the abilities a human would. Reasonable strength for her size, but still only that of a human.
However, she does have the strength of her 'Ka' and 'Ba'. She has what I can only describe as a very high spirit pressure. This can be seen when she utilizes her 'inner strength' as a strong glowing aura around her upper torso. This improves all of her abilities. From the strength of her 'Ka' and more often than not, her 'Ba'. 'Ba' is another way of saying 'soul of the heart'. It is an energy of feeling and unlike 'Ka' or, 'soul of the mind' it is someones personality; a person's feelings.
From her energies, her 'Ka' and 'Ba'; Kahi's aura of energy does change depending upon her feelings at the time. Also, the shape she takes also can have an effect on this energy. She can use this energy in defense and attack; to nullify energy attacks made against her upon contact and to energies her own strikes with whatever intent, be it force of lethality. She can also use this soul energy to make herself faster-- a lot faster.
Kahi is capable of moving over four hundred meters per second from standing, accelerating in almost no time at all to cover the ground. This way, she can cover distances up to and including one hundred meters in under a quarter of a second; this means to a normal human being she appears to simply blur and appear where she desires. You wouldn't be able to see her move.
That aside, Kahi sights with martial prowess. Forming from energy and using effectively two large Khopesh , vicious curved blades of her home. She has had millennia to practice her martial art, a love of dance and her innate abilities make her formidable in close range; even to a master.
The Game
As a Sphinx Kahi comes with riddles of her own. Forced to ask one simple question when any see her true form. The form of the Sphinx.
"Tell me, what is it that you wish for?"
Should a person reply, even in ignorance, they will have entered into Kahi's game. It is then the mythology of the Sphinx begins to show as the player will be given a riddle. Then they play for whatever the player wished for... and whatever suitable, and equal, loss is made against it. Then the player has twenty four hours to answer Kahi's riddle without help or interference, and they must answer.
If the player wins, they get their wish; if it is possible for Kahi to grant. Should the player lose, by getting the riddle wrong, they lose whatever it is they wagered against the wish. Kahi will take whatever it was from them and there is very little in this world that could stop her. It is an oath, you see. Binding and complex there are very few ways out of Kahi's game. Death being the most popular choice, and for some the only way out at all.
What is taken depends on the wish. Wish for immortality and lose, why then you lose your life. If you are blind and wish to see, then you may just find yourself in more than the dark but the silence as well. Wish for wealth above all things, then you will become Midas... not many see the curse there until too late. Wish for strength, well, I believe you begin to see the picture.
Her game holds power even over Gods and Demons, who enter into it thinking their own power can stop it, before finding that her game runs far too close to universal law.
Kahi, however does not like playing her game with anyone. She has lost more friends to it than she cares to remember. Even though she tries, she cannot forget them nor their face and their names. What they wished for and why just as clear today as it was on the day the game was played. It is not just the losers of the game that are cursed.
The Greatest Secret of All
For someone to ask her of her great secret, they must answer her riddle. Playing their life and exisantance against the power gained from that wisdom. Once entered into, this contract cannot be voided. Some beings may already know of what she holds from the world; Seth certainly does. When her secret is told, Kahi will cease; she will turn to stone just like the other Sphinx's you can see today.
Weaknesses and Vulnerabilities
Kahi, with her many strengths, also has weaknesses and vulnerabilities. Some of them are listed here briefly;
- No, I really am behind you. Kahi often relies on her speed. As stated she is able to move unbelievably fast when she wants to, however, if trumped by another hero's speed she must change her tactics and martial combat abilities.
- She didn't see that coming. Though Kahi is fast enough to dodge bullets and some forms of energy projection, she has to see it coming. Kahi is not omniscient and although when in other skins such as the imposing Anubite form she takes; she has very good senses including smell and hearing, she cannot always see everything coming.
- Not indestructible. Kahi can be damaged rather easily if you can actually hit her. In her human form, she is as easy to kill as any other and anti-personal weaponry such as a handgun could prove lethal to her. These weapons however can prove less effective against her larger shapes, simply due to her increased size. Even then, a head shot is an end-game for her.
- Skin-locked. Kahi's abilities at the time are often based upon the skin she wears; although she can make herself stronger by utilizing her 'Ka' and 'Ba' manipulation abilities, her speed and strength are still limited by the shape she takes. When she appears human, she only has the strength and speed (without using her 'Ka' or 'Ba') of a human. Kahi often has to change her skin to dominate.
- Strong, but not unlimited. Kahi's larger forms; such as the Anubite skin she uses for combat and fighting, Kahi is physically strong enough to lift a car from the ground and over her head with effort. This is close to the limit of her physical force in this weaponised form, she can be over-powered.
- Emotion is her strength, but also her weakness. As old as she is, Kahi can often be overwhelmed by her emotions should the right trigger occur. This can make her a lethal whirlwind of death, but also make her careless in the way she fights. This could be easily taken advantage of. For this tactic to work however, care would need to be taken against her as such high emotions make her stronger; when her emotions run high her 'Ba' energy can burn like fire and empower her greatly.
- The Game must be played. Kahi has no control over who gets to play her Game; anyone can enter into it and make a wish, something she is then bound to follow up-on win or lose.
- Beware the Obelisk. Though Kahi's powers afford her limited resistance to Telepathy and other forms of mind control/reading, she is still vulnerable to such powers. She has had millennia to master her own mind and is able to resist through her power of will, in the end her mind is still human.
Family
The Father
Name: Seth
Primus: Here
Set; Seth, Setesh, Sutekh, Typhon... Father. All of these names are his and Kahi has heard them all for her dear father, yet she is perhaps one of the only beings that knows Seth's true name. The immortal being Set is every meaning of safety and trust Kahi has ever known; since she was an infant, Set has cared and looked after her as if she were his own child. Perhaps a very human act, yet it was as selfish as much as it was for Kahi. The two need one-another; in their long journey through history, often they only had each other to count on.
The Brother
Name: Dominick
Primus: Here
In this modern age, Kahi met Dominick by random chance. When she become involved in an organisation known as the White Star Avenger Initiative, she met Dominick and his Father. Kahi's relationship with Dominick went from strength to strength as she worked with him to fight the forces of evil within the Millennium City, they proved to be good for each other in training and friendship. Kahi has grown to love Dominick as a brother; trusting him implicitly with her life and whatever else may be at stake, she has a great deal of faith in his strength, inner and outward.
The Daughter
Name: Cache
Primus: Here
Cache-- or, one ODS Shepard Lea Richards. Kahi met this rebellious youth in Millennium City some years ago, getting to know her through proximity and growing to like her for her fire and strength. Their relationship has been a source of both warmth for and upset for Kahi over its course; yet, now Kahi loves her as if she were her own daughter. Kahi finds herself so proud of Lea for her strengths and the efforts she goes to to make those she cares about happy, even if trouble comes from her often thorny personality. Kahi can't help like that about her to. In truth, Kahi sees a lot of her younger self in the girl and hopes to help her learn the lessons she had to, without the trouble she had.
The Sister
Name: Methari
Primus: Here
Introduced to the little dream demon Methari through a close friend at the time, Kahi has come to respect and love her a great deal. Out of all the people she knows in this modern age, Methari, Kahi feels is able to understand her the most other than her father Set. Kahi has shared a great deal with the little purple demon, including her true name and memories of the past. They have helped one-another many times despite their differences and despite occasional upset through these differences of opinion, there is nothing the demon could do that would cause Kahi to abandon her. Kahi is happy to share the love of their 'daughter' Lea with this demon, for she knows a lot of truth about the one known as Methari.
The Errant Child
Name: Lil'Allie
Primus: Here
Lil' Allie has become very close to her father Set, to the point of sharing his apartment in Millennium City. Kahi finds her curious and fun, yet harbors a degree of suspicion about her and her unknown potential. For the most part however, Kahi is quite happy to be close to Allie and trusts her father Set's judgement of her. Kahi would perhaps only like the opportunity to spend more time with her.
The Grandfather
Name: Amun-Ra
Primus: Needed not
Amun-Ra, the one that saved her from a dark fate many, many years ago. Without the intervention of this ancient being, Kahi would certainly have perished millennia ago. Whether without meddling in human affairs Kahi would have suffered the dark fate befallen upon her family isn't clear, she does however now owe a lot of what she is to this golden being of Order and light. She wears his 'eyes' in this world, working as a 'Wadjet' to try and help humanity. The Eyes of Ra have afforded Kahi a great deal of power amoungst other things and in the end, Kahi simply loves him as family, Ra and his Set are the only family she has ever known.
Friends and Allies
Kahi has made many friends over the long years of her life; most of which now are long gone and forgotten by all but her. Today, she enjoys the company of many that live in this modern age, a few perhaps like her in some respects and yet more that contrast with her.
She isn’t picky about who she speaks to, yet she is careful with who she takes closer to her heart. After millennia of loss, she can be fragile beneath it all yet she always tries to help her friends. She always has hope; despite her feelings on it sometimes.
She is an immortal, trying her best to live in the moment to escape the weight of memory; despite all her gifts, despite her abilities and years she is still so very human.
The Fighter
Name: Mercy
Primus: Here
Kahi counts Mercy as one of her dearest friends in this modern age for many reasons. Mercy is one of the strongest human-beings Kahi has ever met; she has considered Mercy would be more at home on some long forgotten battle field than here in Millennium City, though she is truely glad of her company. Kahi has found she can always count on Mercy to be honest with her however blunt and trusts her a great deal. She does, however, wish to help Mercy learn to move past her often fiery manner and desire for carelessness to act more calmly and with fore-thought. Kahi would say it is a work in progress.
The Altered
Name: Slick
Primus: Here
Slick found Kahi rather than the other way around. To Slick, Kahi was a mysterious girl with 'weird' powers that at first, kinda blew his view of the world apart. Since then however the two have shared a great deal, come to trust one-another and shared much about their abilities. Kahi has come to understand Slick's strengths and is still impressed with his capacity to adapt, he has come to accept the stranger parts of Kahi's existence and that of her father Set, simply taking it in his often massive stride.
The Rebel
Name: Lynn
Primus: Here
Lynn; the one with the will to fight. It means everything, doesn't it? Kahi desires to get to know the girl more, if not simply for her daughter Lea and their burgeoning relationship but for her own insatiable curiosity to. She knows very little about Lynn though knows she is a strong individual, perhaps not entirely in control of her own destiny. Kahi knows there is much more to Lynn's story, and she hopes to be there to help when the time comes.
The Assassin
Name: Miss. Frost
Primus: Here
A new friend that has quickly become close to the group, Miss Frost has shown an accepting personality with perhaps just the right touch of dark past to mix her in with the odd group. Introduced through Methari the two have found they have much in common. Future adventures to Babylon are sure to cement this.
The Shifter
Name: Blaq
Primus: Here
Blaq, an odd being from Kahi's past. The curious liquid creature has since made a surprising come-back; jumping back into Kahi's life to her delight to cause trouble and thrills yet again. Long ago, the two were rather close and perhaps this friendship can once again be that strong. Kahi will wait and see.
The Guardian
Name: Mitsuko
Primus: Here
Mitsuko; Kahi feels she owes her much. When her need was great and when there seemed to be little hope, Mitsuko was there. She had no need to be, no dept or word had bound her there, yet she appeared and helped Kahi in a dire situation. Since that moment, Kahi has been reassured Mitsuko has remained in her life and hopes she will for a while longer yet. Kahi has a great deal of respect for Mitsuko's obvious martial and spiritual skills, perhaps one day, Kahi may learn from her.
Memorable Events and Story
Here you will find many short tales and scenes from the life of Kahi. Feel free to browse, or not browse, at your leisure.
Desert of the Mind
Gravity pulls you down, yet it is the weight of memory in this place. Your bare feet find warm sand--it is deep, fine as you sink into it with the thought. From your feet, the sand stretches out, rolling out into a dune and then another... An endless sea of sand.
You cannot see anything beyond that desert, no rock or tree or life. Nothing but the sands... Until you turn about, looking up over the crest of the large dune you find yourself on to see something looming.
Visiting Kahi
“Kahi,” Itennu says softly, then he sighs, voice becoming louder, “Kahi.”
“What?” she asks, looking towards him with a sigh.
“You are not paying attention.” He says sternly, trying to glare at the six year old before him and failing.
“But I’m bored It-en-nu!” she replies, banging her sandaled feet onto the steps where she sat with every kick of her legs emphasising her boredom.
Wish of Life
“I wish—“ The words caught in my throat as I could feel the moment bearing down upon me.
This is what I’d sought, was it not? Everything I had been through; the hurt and the lies. Everything had led me here; to her. The stone walls of stories and tales held an entombing ceiling levelled with entrapment, making what I had sought here hold an air of menace to be so confined.
The Hour of Tears
The click of each second echoed through her as the voice of the clock sounded the drag, after everything that had happened those golden eyes seemed lost and left in the waiting. The adrenaline had long since drained away and the rush of the hectic horror had numbed her to the core. She sat alone in a cool blue corridor; clad in a red jacket rolled up to her elbows. She was slumped, her toned body lax in the seat as if lacking the will to support itself.
Tick
The Gold of Life - P1
The priest propels himself through the busy streets of Thinis, darting past market traders as he moves and all the other people hurrying to their day. A task made slightly easier for him as his long white robes and bald head mark out his profession, though only a little. It was a busy day as always in the capital, Nebamen may have been a priest, but these people had places to be.
A Loving Fight
The staff was heavy in his hands as Seth shifted his stance. The weapon held loosely at his side, body twisted to keep it point out towards his target, Kahi. The energy in his muscles was palpable as he waited there, a simple smile on his face as he watched her acrobatics. Their fighting styles were quite different, he focused on defense and using openings given to him as even the strongest sagged before him; Kahi was all attack. Her speed was close to rivaling his own in this form, and her grace was unmatched by any other. He would never admit it, could never admit it, but she was truly an opponent he had to be careful to fight.
The Lonely Child-P1
Warmth filled her as she awoke. A strange sense of familiarity with this place making her return to consciousness slow despite the worry she could already feel building. With a frown Kahi tensed, fingers digging into the warm grit of sand beneath her, a frown furrowing her brow as the heated air caressed her cheek. For a moment she wonders if she is in Alau, but only for a moment. If she were the air would have the faintest trace of incense, the feel of other life here. Yet there is nothing but the sand to her perception.
She is alone.
Again.
The Lonely Child-P2
"You are correct, though I would expect you to be able to answer a riddle. They are so close to the heart are they not?" this other Kahi says softly.
"Just like them I am cryptic; it goes with what and who we are... You know that." She runs her hand into the sand, letting the texture wash over her. Using it to try to help her gain calm but it didn’t help.
"Yes I do," her other self says softly, shifting to sit next to her, "Why have you let me take over Kahi?"
Keeping Keen
The desert mesa; such a barren place to behold in the heating sun, those intense rays torment the ancient rock.
Joining them in the cycle of burning heat stands a lone warrior. Silently he waits, enduring the searing light in controlled concentration. His sharp mind holds a loose kind of focus, neither pondering his surrounds nor musing upon the heated and the blaze of light.
Returning Home
Warm light flows into a peaceful room. White drapes fluttering in the air in the cool breeze as the first hints of a fine summer make the day beautiful. Beautiful to all except the form that lies limp on the bed, golden light shimmering around her as she heals. It has been a long time since she has been in this state, caught on the brink of death and only returning because of the powers that bind her. A twice bound soul to both her nature and her master.
Her dark hair falls over her closed golden eyes as she shifts, brow furrowed with the memories that force their way through her mind. Returning from the borders is never a pleasant experience. To return she must remember.
Vigil
The look on Kahi’s face was harrowing as she took in Seth’s condition. It had been two days since she had awoken after her rebirth, two days since she had learned of Seth’s poisoning and those two days had felt the longest of her existence for some time. Amun-Ra and Dominick had tried to keep her distracted with training, idle chatter and even a long walk into the nearest small town of workers. Yet everything had reminded her of this man. Her father.
Maelstrom
“If you think you are so powerful why don’t you fight him.”
The words said in frustration echo in the courtyard as Kahi turns to glare at Seth. Her face is set with determination and sudden anger at her father who had done nothing but laugh quietly while she and Dominick trained. The quiet sounds of amusement an ever present distraction after every failed attempt to land a blow on Amun-Ra, every annoying moment when the greatest of them showed his true power. Showed how much they were being toyed with. It reminded her far too much of her fight with Apep; something she could quite do without remembering thank you very much.

Opinions of Kahi
The following are recorded interviews conducted by an UNTIL operative when the organisation tried to gather some information on the woman known as Kahi.
Seth
“What do you really think of Kahi these days?”
Seth sits quiet next to Itennu at that, his face unusually still as he looks out across the water. He can feel his aide’s gaze on him and he wonders how to reply. How could such a question ever be answered?
“Of which Kahi do you speak?” Seth asks at last, laying back on the cool grass to stare up into the blue, cloud filled sky.
“Which Kahi?” Itennu snorts, “Why your daughter Kahi of course.”
“If it is my daughter you ask of, why then she is the perfect figure of beauty. Someone I loved and protected from the moment I first held her form in my arms. Someone whose own grace and abilities show with each action she takes. I am proud of her, and to see her warms my heart,” Seth breaks off then to laugh quietly, “Even if I do sometimes wonder where the errant three year old went.”
“As do I sometimes,” Itennu admits, laying down next to his lord. His smile was quickly replaced by a frown though and he leans up to peer over Seth, his eyes narrowing, “What do you mean ‘which Kahi’?”
“There is the Kahi my daughter, then there is Kahi the Sphinx, Kahi the fighter, Kahi the mother and…” Seth trails off, unwilling to answer and his eyes close, blocking out the suddenly worried face of Itennu.
“Seth,” Itennu murmurs, leaning a little closer and when he gains no response he prods the great man in the chest, “Seth, and what. You can’t evade me on this.”
“Who taught you to be so disrespectful?” Seth gripes, opening his eyes only to glare up at the man.
“You did, now start talking.” Itennu grins, though it fades as Seth speaks.
“And then there is Kahi the critic,” Seth whispers, and his eyes close again even as he continues speaking, “I love my daughter and I always seek to do the right thing. She guided me on this, gave me a reason to do so. Yet… almost always I see censure in her eyes, as if I should do more. As if so much is my fault. When it is not there I fear its reappearance. I fear that one day her love for me will turn to disdain, that I will fail her for the last time… somehow.”
“You know that could never happen,” Itennu whispers from just above him.
“I still fear it.”
Itennu smiles down at the stricken visage of his lord, he had never expected the man to be so silly. Yet here it was.
“I know it could never happen,” Itennu says firmly, grinning still, “She loves you as deeply as you love her. If she censures it is because of just how high esteem she holds you in. The man she sees is not the man you see in yourself.”
Deep, blood red eyes open to stare up at Itennu in a mix of disbelief and more than just a little hope.
“You are Seth, the one she could barely stop talking about in the temple as she grew. You spoilt her through her entire existence and in all these millennia what you could give her you did. She knows this and sees it quite clearly, her love for you is as great as yours for her,” Itennu continues, “Though perhaps the comments from those we love hit deeper than any others. You have been known to linger on such things.”
“I am an old fool,” Seth sighs.
“Too right my lord,” Itennu nods before planting a gentle kiss on Seth’s cheek, “Too right.”
Frank Destrega, owner of the Coffee House 7 in Down-town Millennium City
"March, or maybe April; that was when she first started coming into my place. Always early morning, just as the sun was hitting the sky. I remember-- she always looked perfect like-- Like, the morning was her time. Like she owned the world and it had to follow her rather than the drag the rest of us have to pull ourselves through.
She'd sit next to the window, just her; she never had anyone with her though this meant-- I mean, I don't have a big place, just a small cafe. So people 'ad come up and speak to her-- only occasionally I mean. This woman had a confidence about her that would make anyone think twice about their chances, despite the-- well, I don't mean to judge a book by its cover but she was beautiful. Rich tanned skin, perfect black hair. She'd have golden highlights in it sometimes; just brought out her eyes.
Yeah-- The eyes. That's probably the thing I remember about her most were her eyes. She'd just look at you and smile and-- ya just can't look away. Like she'd catch you sneaking something too precious to take and you were just... Stuck, staring at her. A shimmering gold you can't believe, almost like she had the metal in 'em.
I'd watch 'er as she sat lookin out of the window. She'd just sit there, drinking her coffee. Black, one sugar... Watching the world go by. I thought about talking to her more than once but I-- just never got up the courage. Always regret I didn't ask her name...She doesn't come around here no more."
Methari, The Dream Demon and Kahi's adopted Sister
Methari's stance is slightly guarded;
"So let me get this straight, you want me to tell you...about Kahi? How I feel about her? Mmmhmm...next you'll be telling me I have to register...right..yeah not happening. So about Kahi..."
The demon crosses her arms and taps her chin in thought.
"I met my sister through other people, as one tends to do. I mean, I was meaning lots of people that day...mom was showing me around and introducing me to her friends. Seth and Kahi stuck out in the crowd. I'll get to more on the old man in a minute, as you asked about her. I'm old...and have seen power. Kahi radiated a presence. It was one that almost demanded your attention, as if to dare you to look away from her. Then she smiled. She was talking to Blondie, and he had said something witty to make her smile. Her expression conveyed an emotion that just flowed into the room, almost as if it were infectious. When she smiles, the world seems right. It's one of those...y'know?"
Looks at the agent; "Hey hey! I said sister, I'm not infatuated....yeesh. It's not a "love at first sight" kind of thing. It's more like I said, "I dare you to look away and not smile too." kind of thing. As for her personality, she is like me...and Seth. We are long lived, and sometimes it shows, but she is patient....fair, kind...and whooo-boy do NOT get on her bad side."
"She and I have had our differences." Methari fidgets a bit, "I have upset her on more than one occasion. She, like mom and dad...has been able to look past what my outer appearance says about me. Despite all of the times I've upset her, she's always been kind to me. Patient. Her beauty on the outside is reflected in the soul inside. But why are you asking me about her? Go see for yourself. Her heart has room for those that would not do it harm, and her rage has no end for those that would. She is beauty and class, and a bit of sass all rolled into one very neat package."
Methari whispers to the agent, "And she's a hell of a dresser...I'm SOOO jelly."
The demon leans back "As for my feelings? I've grown to love her as a dear sister. There are things that one day I hope we can share. Responsibilities we can handle together. But I'm there for her. I'll be there if she needs her hair brushed. I'll be by her side if she needs a shoulder to cry on. Then I'll have her back when she needs to bury the body. Kahi is within the circle that I trust with my existence, my heart, my soul...and all that is me."
Cache, Lea. Kahi's adopted Daughter
“Well... I don't know if I can top the demon... She cheats.” The young woman crosses her arms, her targeted technological eyes scan.
“But she is right. Ever so graceful; beautiful, weak and strong, and she loves me. I love her as well...” Cache raises a hand to adjust her hair.
“I.. I.. yes me.. even was inspired by her to write a poem... it’s not good. but I made it.. because of her. I know technically shes supposed to be a sister; especially if you try to draw out the tree... but my birth mother died, long before I had the ability to remember her face.” Pauses, as if her words had a great deal of meaning behind them.
“So as far as I am concerned… Kahi is-- and always will be; mum.” She smiles faintly, watching the UNTIL operative as they watch her unique eyes.
“My eyes are soulless, but hers are so golden, that when I look into them… I forget they are. Even if her appearance changes; she always remains.. Kahi.” Smirks then,
“But with great beauty and grace comes great slice-ability… Be wary, very wary...”
Dominick, Kahi's adopted Brother
"Well... what, do you expect me to say something bad of her?" He chuckled, rubbing the back of his head in a signature fashion.
"Kahi is what you call a full package. Err... well... not like that of course! I mean... well... she is absurdly beautiful to a high level, there is no doubt about it. But she's also so powerful. It truly... amazes me to witness at how dynamic she's grown over the last few years I've known her," he smiles in thought, as if pondering about his dear friend.
"She is my sister... or, well... like a sister to me, if you know what I mean. We've been through so much together; a lot of bad, a lot of good. She means so much to me, I don't know what I'd do if anything was to happen to her."
He tilts his head at the UNTIL officer interviewing him, raising an eyebrow as a thought occurs to him. "I actually haven't seen her in a while, it feels. I just hope she's doing okay."
"When you're within her presence, you just know everything will be alright... hehe, as silly as it sounds coming from me, it's the truth." A small blush formed onto his cheeks as he continued, though he quickly shakes his head to brush off the flush "But yeah! Don't ever get her angry though. Its official from me; believe what I say, because what I say is all true. Kahi can be the nicest and yet deadliest being on the planet depending on her mood, and I plan to continue doing anything it takes to stay on her bright side."
Dominick shifts his footing to a more comfortable stance, speaking with pure warmth behind his tone of voice. "She is the reason I stay motivated... to become stronger with my abilities and potential. I want to compete at her level, show her how much I've changed as an individual because of what she taught me. If I hadn't ever met Kahi when I did, my life would not be where its at right now. I can only feel so grateful at the position where I stand; I've reached so many altitudes I never even dreamed of reaching! Haha!"
"Because of her, I now serve Seth as his Avatar, his son. I wouldn't change my past for the world, I've loved every minute of it. But now? I must continue to make her proud, show her why I am her brother..."
Dominick glanced up to the sky, his expression pausing in a daze. "She will always hold a special place in my heart, as I hope the same for her. She's one of the best people I've ever met."
Mercy Madison, a good friend
She had been leaning her back against the lamp post, with a pair of ear-buds in her ears connected to her HTC mobile phone. The amplifying tunes caused her to be absorbed in her own world, as she slowly closed her eyes and bobbed her head in a relaxing rhythm. That was until she felt a brief tap on her shoulder from behind.
She opened her eyes to an UNTIL commander, with a clipboard in her hands.
"...What do I think of her?" The large framed woman had been asked by the officer during their dialogue about the golden charm. "...Tch, she's the real deal. No question."
"I've known her long enough to state that. She's earned my respect from day one to keep it honest with ya'. Her personality is always so... damn bright that you cant resist feeling the same way when she's around. It sometimes makes me sick, 'cause when I'm angry, I WANT to be angry." She managed a short humorous chuckle.
"Naah, but honestly though? Kahi is one of the most inspiring beings I eva' met, believe it or not. Call me a crazy-ass if you wanna, but its all a buck. You aint eva' gonna hear me say this again in public, but I get jealous of her to a small degree. It aint nothin too serious, cause that's my girl. I just envy... her natural beauty... her facility for greatness..." She said, lifting her gaze to the sky, her face calm.
"Don't take her for granted just because she comes across as one of the nicest chicks. Hell no, take advice from me... advice from one who provoked her in the past. I had to be taught a nice paaainful lesson, heh, I'll neva' forget it. I'm grateful for it though."
"I'm glad she was patient enough to deal with my shit, and embrace me as the woman I am today. Every time I displayed my bitchy persona toward her, she did nothing but smile and try to shrug off my hostility. But like I said, she can only hold in so much."
"I look up to her--" She blinks, realizing what she just worded, but then waved dismissively followed by an eye-roll, "Yeah yeah you heard what I said. I may be seven feet, but... I feel like I look up to her. She has a crazy influence on me I can't explain, for-real. Whenever I have problems, I always reach out to her for help."
"Its strange... but... humph, whatever. I'm here for Kahi as much as she's there for me. I dig her all the way!"
An amusing smirk wore over Mercy's lips, folding her arms under her bust. "But its funny how she always calls herself perfect."
